I'm sure you've probably hear the answer by now, but a glider kit is a truck cab and chassis without an engine or transmission in it. It's usually a cheaper way for companies to get newer trucks, since you can take a well-functioning engine and transmission out of an old, worn out truck and install it on the new kit. There is one company in my hometown that bought a 1975 Kenworth W900A glider kit with a custom extended hood. This thing has one of the sweetest jakes I've ever heard.
