Absolutely. People go to school for years, and then take many more years to hone their craft in journalism/interviewing techniques. The UA-cam/social media space and "citizen-journalist" space is cool for what it is, but there are limitations. Nobody's sitting down with Joe, Nore or Akademiks to do "serious" interviews. You go to these type outlets strictly when you're tryna promote a product, or just wanna engage in fuckery and go viral. Like it or not, this is the "brand" these guys have created. Cardi just did a rollout with Essence. A whole damn rollout where she revealed her youngest child…You don’t think she could have easily have went to a white publication? Not to mention Cardi still interviews with the Breakfast Club.
Essence is owned by a white-ran bigger corporation, but I do get your point tho. Regardless of what you think of Cardi's music, her marketing and publicists people are really good. Cardi's more a "personality" than a musician, so it makes 100% sense to get someone as charismatic as her into other, bigger media spaces. Film, television, fashion and commercials are going to be Cardi's bread and butter at the end of the day. The music's just promo. Atlantic Records is eating very well off of Cardi's 360 deal.
@@MichaelBrown-ti1un It is publication that caters to black people with a largely black audience….and it has always been known as a “black” publication. The majority stakeholder doesn’t change that.
I feel like in my mind (and I can be wrong) NORE comment was geared more towards Diddy than Cardi because Diddy just did Ellen but I don’t see a problem with celebrities doing both. I also command Cardi for posing with Offset and the kids on Essence magazine Because she could have easily went to Vogue or Elle.
Considering Drink Champs is on Revolt, highly unlikely he was referring to Diddy. He absolutely was referring to Cardi but didn't want the smoke. Nore should say it with his chest or STFU about it.
I was told when I was a marketing intern to become a star you gotta have the people in your niche adore you, gays adore you and then you can go to superstar media. Example is Cardi B she was doing club appearances then all the hip hop radio. Had the gay people quoting her then white media was like wow we wanna interview her she’s trending and hip and will give me views and she gets the cross promotion to have white ppl look her up as well.
For the answer to that question, I’d look at the handlers. Cardi even confessed to not wanting to do the k flck video and then weirdly walked it right back… she go to one of y’all y’all might ask her questions they don’t want her to answer
David Letterman is the Mt Rushmore of talk shows media whatever like I get what NORE is saying but drink Champs is super successful and only been around what 6 or 7 years now The DL show been around since the 80s
If any of y’all haven’t ASKED an artist to come on your show or pod then excuse yourself from the conversation 2. Soo you get to criticize someone and then still want them to be on your show??? Tell me how that works😒😒😒
I think things are slowly changing. I think artists are starting to get the hint that number one, home is where the heart is and number two, if black media gets enough traffic, it could get to the Kimmel and Fallon levels. As long as we do RIGHT by US then we _cain't_ go wrong. Here's hoping 'cause chile... Hell, tryna get black artists to do black media be like pulling teeth sometimes. They sit on Ellen couch and just be happy, attentive and basically an open book. On black platforms, they be late, high/drunk, slurred the fuck out and unpleasant. When y'all go to Lenard platform, have the same respect that you have on Jimmy Fallon platform. And it's as simple as that. That's it - that's all.
its true, but NORE is probably the least professional... smoking and drinking, bad audio and frequently interrupting the guests. The only thing Drink Champs has going for it is that it's NORE and Rwvolt
Some Artists dont care to sit with BC,JBP,DC, etc. Its not always choosing white media over hip hop. Its respect thing and some Artists dont respect these people.
The problem with Ice's argument here is that he's just seeing Hip Hop in a music bag while forgetting that Hip Hop ain't just music, it's the full culture, fashion, entrepreneurship, etc (The 9-Pillars of Hip Hop as expressed by Krs-One). Ice's thinking is part of the problem of those artist who feed off the culture of Hip Hop to make it and then toss it aside when it's convenient instead of taking the culture and uplifting the culture with you. Last time I checked Kanye was on drink champs...does he only do or primarily do music at this point? Fuck no. Respek the culture!
This discussion has very valid arguments on both sides. At the end of the day, these artist need to come back and show love to the culture because it’s not that hard! They’ll understand, once Hollywood chews them up and spits them back out and they want their flowers from people podcasts like Drink Champs. Throwing JBP/Joe in there is a bit weird. It seems like Nore did that to get the beat off of him. To be honest, Joe’s thoughts and opinions do way more for the culture than any interview he does. The interviews are fast food. Quick internet topics. What did we learn from the Isaiah Rashad interview? That he’s still battling the fact that he’s gay/bisexual? it’s the same thing as him not saying anything at all..
19:07 Why Joe? Stop doing this...fuck 'em and let 'em kick rocks. I may not always agree with everything you say but trust that your fans or the folks that want to know was said will look the clip up and listen to the full statement. Shit if I'm gonna be mad at someone, I at least want the full story lol.
There should be more diversity in the presentation of urban media. I enjoy gillie and wallo, and even drink champs. I do wish they paid attention to the creativity joe budden shows in his various platforms regarding the way he interviews artists/people. Also…DJ Envy is a terrible interviewer, completely understandable if nobody ever wants to go there lol
Hip hop artist sitting with hip hop platforms are way better interviews than any other non hip hop platforms even if they’re bigger that them in numbers because they’re more in tune with the culture for example Kanye drink champs interview is wayyyyy better than the David letterman interview and the zane lowe. I don’t like the fact that the biggest artist don’t go to hip hop platforms, especially when you already at that level where all walks of life know who you are you don’t need letterman lowe or gal king. the audience gonna watch the interview no matter who you site down to talk with.
All a matter of opinion. Nore is good for a laugh and maybe some stories, as are most of these hip hop podcast hosts, but few of them are polished enough or mature enough to get the type of guests they claim they want. At a certain age and level of success you want to be asked deep, introspective questions, not shit like "do you eat ass."
Orrrrrr How about YOU HELP PEOPLE get to Ellen or Dave 🙄🙄🙄 Why you sitting here explaining that people “are too big for your show” and in the same breathe say people that’s not that hot Tf😂😂😂

Cardi just did a rollout with Essence. A whole damn rollout where she revealed her youngest child…You don’t think she could have easily have went to a white publication? Not to mention Cardi still interviews with the Breakfast Club.
Don't care
@@lisaclark6189 Was this directed towards you lol? You said that as though I was speaking to you specifically.
lol, bruh, Essence, tha Grio etc..
jus LGBTQ strongholds.
Weird how music is marketed to the young crowd but the artist goes to 70 year olds to talk.
Make culture the new normal so you can be your authentic self.
Nore was talking about cardi I remember an episode where they got her on the phone and she said she’ll come on
NORE is absolutely correct
When should artist do interviews outside of "hip hop" podcast?
Nore want them UA-cam checks fasho
I’d pick joe budden over Ellen interview. But I’d pick letterman over joe. There’s levels to this 😂💀
Is it just me or are these guys censoring their opinions on this subject?
For the answer to that question, I’d look at the handlers. Cardi even confessed to not wanting to do the k flck video and then weirdly walked it right back… she go to one of y’all y’all might ask her questions they don’t want her to answer
You all crying for viewership….it’s all about journalism! You all hip hop outlets be instigating beefs…that’s why they left!
David Letterman is the Mt Rushmore of talk shows media whatever like I get what NORE is saying but drink Champs is super successful and only been around what 6 or 7 years now
The DL show been around since the 80s
If any of y’all haven’t ASKED an artist to come on your show or pod then excuse yourself from the conversation
2. Soo you get to criticize someone and then still want them to be on your show???
Tell me how that works😒😒😒
You see it.....how you not interviewing new artist esp. ones that haven't blown up yet. This just reinforces the whole young vs old divide in hiphop.
Maybe the artists know you people are NOT proper JOURNALIST.
Ask Nore what would happen if he had Coi Leray booked and Madonna called asking for that same slot?
I'm a couple eps behind. I gotta catch up smh.
Ok great topic
He was talking about JAY-Z and Will Smith
Jbp 🤞🏾🤙🏾💪🏾
HE IS TALKING ABOUT WILL SMITH LOL
its true, but NORE is probably the least professional... smoking and drinking, bad audio and frequently interrupting the guests. The only thing Drink Champs has going for it is that it's NORE and Rwvolt
Some Artists dont care to sit with BC,JBP,DC, etc. Its not always choosing white media over hip hop. Its respect thing and some Artists dont respect these people.
And they know these outlets won't respect them and will embarrass them for clicks and viral moments
Fuck no. Respek the culture!
lit ep.
they cant stay on topic for s***!!!!!!
Joe and Gillie have weird energy. And NORE just isn’t that good at interviews. He entertaining but I don’t know if he has the place to be saying this
Nore's absolutely the wrong messenger for this.
🎯🎯🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
who is John Galt
But going to these ppl will help u get a award
Invite David letterman to the podcast. Lets go!!!!
The Culture fed you, now feed the culture.
I fed you music & performance. That's all you getting from me as an Artist.
Drink champs you have to be in the rap game 10 years to get on Nore so you need to change to get the young guns on??
A different fan base duh
Hit that like button ⭐️👍⭐️
Damm parks gone get pregnant
Orrrrrr How about YOU HELP PEOPLE get to Ellen or Dave 🙄🙄🙄
Why you sitting here explaining that people “are too big for your show” and in the same breathe say people that’s not that hot
Tf😂😂😂
Ish and ice waaay better than mealy mal and Rory ever were
