Formed in 1968 and played together till 1980 when drummer John Bonham passed away. There is a video of Kashmir that was filmed in 2007 the drummer is John's son Jason, who better to fill in for his Dad.
A backdoor man is someone who arrives by the back door when the husband has left and leaves by the backdoor before he arrives again. It's a trope from blues music. LZ like to experiment. Hence the unusual middle section.
Enjoyed your reaction to this great Led Zeppelin song. The drummer John Bonham is considered by many (I’d go as far as to say most) people to be the best in rock and roll. The guitar player Jim Page is in the top five, maybe top three rock guitarist of all time. Robert Plant their lead singer and John Paul Jones the bass guitar player are top tier in what they do. They have an endless list of great songs. I recommend Stairway To Heaven and Nobody’s Fault But Mine next. You can’t go wrong with anyone’s recommendation.
“ the psychedelic segment” busts out into blistering blues playing!!! Masters! Saw them in ‘69. John Bonham- drums John Paul Jones- bass, keys Robert Plant- vocals Jimmy Page- guitarist and producer Subbed!
The band was from England and this was over 50 years ago. Women usually were housewives and men supported the family. A "backdoor man" referenced a woman's lover leaving out the backdoor before the husband arrived back home. I remember when my mom was stuck at home raising us and our friends moms were home too. So different than now.
Robert Plant lead singer, Jimmy Page lead guitar and producer, John Paul Jones, bass guitar on this tune but plays about 20 instruments, and the greatest drummer ever...the one and only BONZO ....John Bonam. In those days the " back door man" was the side hustle. He went out the back door when the main man came home through the front.
Zeppelin ... Masters of Blues & Complex composition .. but ... from the same era try something simple that drives hard .. check out ... Status Quo - Don’t Waste My Time (Live Aid 1985) ... they opened the Live Aid day ... see how the crowd Luv them ! Play it loud !
Best Band Ever. Bonzo on drums Amazing. One of the baddest drummers. Of Course, Jimmy Page on Guitar and John Paul Jones is Bass, organ and about 4 other instruments.
Double-neck guitar typically has 12 strings on one neck and 6 strings on the other--you might play chords on the 12 string neck and then improvise a solo on the 6 string neck.
The 'freak-out' segment in the middle is a _psychedelic_ interlude. Remember this was released in 1969, and the pop music world was still very much in the psychedelic era. It was common to have segments like this in longer songs if not the entire song being a freak-out... This is the official video which you are reacting to. It's actually shorter than the studio version of this song where the psychedelic segment is twice as long and even more of a freak-out. Check it out some time out of curiosity if you haven't already.
Yeah, it's just a combination of videos with the studio version of the song. The live version of this from MSG 1973 is mind blowing! Also, "back door man" is an old phrase used in Blues from the 30's that refers to a cheating woman's lover when she's married. He comes in and leaves through the back door. Of course Robert Plant probably intended the double entendre as well. 🙂
That part/break that you didn’t really care that much about where Plant was groaning was to mimic sex,, an orgasmic type of thing, the song is about doing the wild thing.
when the song was released psychedelic music was still popular-the psychedelic interlude in the middle of the song is a tribute to that particular music genre.
Nice reaction. Yeah, the film footage is from many different times. In the 70s, I was a kid and I fucking loved Zeppelin. The drummer, John Bonham, was one of the guys who inspired me to learn drums. I don't know when you recorded this, or if you've done other Led Zeppelin songs, but you should check out "The Song Remains the Same", "Nobody's Fault But Mine", and "Kashmir".
The segment in the middle to me is Led Zeppelin expressing a climax during a sexual incounter when giving every inch of love. Yeah this clip is a mix of different times the band played the same song. Pretty obvious if you look carefully.
The good thing is about this era and past eras is their is no comparison it’s what it makes it unique but similar at the same time. U need to check out the doors, T-Rex, David Bowie and the clash
Meshing video of different songs and years using the version from the album. Recorded on an old house with imaginative mic placements and recording the drums on a landing in the large entrance hall. They used a portable recording studio in a truck that belonged to the Rolling Stones😮
Back door man is a term that a woman has a man but she likes to play with other guys so he would be that back door man he would leave through the back door if her guy walks in the front door!
Very odd that you say you have never reacted to led zep before but i have seen your reactions to Achilles last stand and going to california. You were very impressed by those songs - but then instantly forget them. If you are going to get to know a band you really have to allow enough time and attention to absorb the songs otherwise this is a waste of time
I didn’t forget anything 😂 this is a re-upload from my main channel to get this channel started with videos that can help drive early growth, this is the very first song I ever reacted to from them, when this video was recorded it was my first time
@@DuaneReacts Oh that explains it , trouble is that people aren't going to get them in the right order so it may be better if you say on the thumbnail its a repost. Julie Manarin has got the right idea - keep going ... Led Zep aren't a band that only have a few good songs that are worth knowing, there are 8 albums of brilliant tracks, try reacting to some new ones - you won't regret it and they will always get an audience. For a start you could try when the levee breaks , since i've been loving you ( the live version from MSG 1973 always goes down well) and Dazed and confused . Good luck with the channel but much ore important that you find music you like.
That’s Jimmy Page on guitar, Robert Plant singing, John Paul Jones on Bass and John Bonham on drums. I’m 71 and “Back Door Man” was referring to a cheating woman who as her so called main man was leaving through the front door the guy she was cheating with was sneaking in the back door.
Led Zeppelin greatest band in all of music history.
One of my favorite guitar's riffs.
🔥🥰 Love it 🥰🔥
Best band of all time. They had so many fantastic tracks. Try Since I Been Loving You or You Shook Me.
Check out Since I've Been Loving You live from MSG 1973. Great performance!
Greatest band in history!!! Please do Stairway To Heaven live from Madison Square Garden 1973!

I was lucky enough to be a teenager in the 70s, . Zeppelin, Stones, Aerosmith, Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath, Foreigner, Van Halen.
Just another masterpiece.

I saw them in '69 too!
@@marymargaretmoore9034 it was their first US tour. Saw them in SF. YOU?
@@TheDivayenta Yes, at Winterland.
No matter what people suggest you listen to next you really can’t go wrong. I have never heard a bad Led Zeppelin song.
Led Zeppelin and the word 'bad' should never be said in the same sentence even in dismissal (I realize I just broke my own rule here)
@@jamesaron1967 😂😂
Well there is Hats off to (Roy) Harper, which is definitely a step in the direction of bad.

"Backdoor man" definition is basically a side piece. The man who sneaks in the backdoor when her main man leaves out the front door.
Double-neck guitar typically has 12 strings on one neck and 6 strings on the other--you might play chords on the 12 string neck and then improvise a solo on the 6 string neck.

"Back door man" is a side piece for you kids today.
Jimmy's guitar is a 12 string on top and a six string on the bottom.
when the song was released psychedelic music was still popular-the psychedelic interlude in the middle of the song is a tribute to that particular music genre.
That makes sense appreciate the info!
L Z initiated the psychedelic sound!
If you listen to "Stairway to Heaven "..do the audio before any live version...there is so much you will miss out on that cant be reproduced live.

They all tried to sing like Robert Plant. Some better than others.
In the 70's, a "back door man" was a man who would sneak into a woman's home, "back door," when her husband wasn't home. A secret boyfriend.
Let me explain to you youngin's...the muddle is a build up to orgasm...
Back door man in the day meant sneaking around so come through the back door so no one sees you.
Jimmy Page the best
for Zeppelin ..you need real head phones ...you miss a lot of sound with buds
I’ll be using headphones going forward
You missed the every inch of my love line
