Yeah I was dying in the video when I finally realized that it was on of their vehicles lol. And it couldn't have happened to better explorers 😂 the mic is great. Before I played back the sound I thought it was going to be ruined because the wind was ripping up there. Another great suggestion, never steer me wrong! This site was built around 1966 the top two antennas were later additions in the early 80's. These were the first kind of towers along with the western union microwave towers
@@OutNaturing I have a relative that was stationed at a couple of airforce bases in Minnesota from the 60's to the 80's, there used to be a great big cement AT&T microwave tower here in Mutual ohio and he went in the back of a cargo jet to grab a cup of coffee and he heard the pilots say " we are now flying over the Mutual tower." The tower was torn down around 1983 mainly because AT&T and the airforce now use satellites. Later Dayton power & light (DP&L) bought the property and built a cell phone tower there now.

Clearly the site was designed to be functional with little concern about the aesthetics. The four lower horn shaped antennas appear to be part of the TD2 microwave radio system which carried long distance telephone calls, distributed television signals to network affiliate stations, and provided other communication services. There is a pair of horn antennas facing in each of two directions, one antenna of each pair receiving and the other transmitting. The signal received in each pair was recovered, amplified and rebroadcast through the transmitting antenna in the other pair. The two receiving antennas used the same frequency band and the two transmit antennas used the same, but a different, frequency band. More information is provided in the wikipedia TD-2 article. That article contains a photo of a different TD-2 radio site. I think the original configuration was not so unsightly. The telecommunications engineers may have considered it to be attractive, especially when it was "state of the art". The antennas added later really make the tower look ugly, in my opinion. After the site was taken out of service, I think it should have been cleared (towers and building removed) as soon as it was no longer staffed. Clearly, the equipment was obsolete. As seen in the video, the site was very dangerous with the temptation to climb the towers, possibly fall and get killed, and many other hazards. I am glad to hear that the site has been cleared.

Out naturing, looking at the views You shower, one of the things I miss about living in NEPA is the mountains. Funny they can back for the vehicle. Did they drive it out?
i wish the camera did some justice of that view. such an amazing view of the valley and surrounding mountains. blessed to have all this right in my back yard!😊noo they didnt. im thinking they needed more parts/tools lol.

We lived in the Moscow area fir while, have a house there, but my bro is renting to own. We are now outside the Philly area and as mentioned I miss my mountains and views. Come up quite after for camping.

I would definitely climb up under better conditions it was very windy up there and if I had a climbing partner. Lol. After not climbing it that day I'm thinking about investing in a harness with a climbing clip for safe climbing!
I've written my name on the side of some old Western Electric KS-15676 horn antennas in NJ, NY, and New England. ATC purchased most of the old sites. It looks like the one in this video isn't being restored. You should start a GFMP and restore this one. These towers are historic.

Sound was great! Very sketchy about that SUV. Great explore. Would be nice if an awesome place like this could be refurbished & used. Especially since is such a sound structure.
