    I’m so happy I watched this video! If I would have followed the directions, it would have been a disaster. When I did a test strip following mfg instructions, the paper expanded 1/2 an inch, then shrank back 1/4 inch. Pasting the wall, ZERO expansion, NO SHRINKING SEAMS. Beautiful job, thanks to your information.

    An excellent video, thanks. I have hung masses of this in various houses we have had, and there are a few tips I would pass on. Firstly, take your time and never, never rush. As you say, it becomes extremely tearable when wet. I always push it against the corner, crease it, fold it back and use scissors. If you try using a knife, it WILL drag and tear. Watch out for flattening the embossed pattern - it's really easy to do, and you won't get it back. Use lots of very good paste, and give it a really good saturation.. yes, you will get messy, but it is worth it. lastly, TAKE YOUR TIME. You cannot rush this paper. OK, really lastly, this paper stretches very easily when wet, so be very carful, and never allow it to hang from the ceiling down a wall or it will stretch by a country mile at the bottom. Get gravity to work with you, and don't fight it. Good luck.

  • @beverleycubitt2093
    @beverleycubitt2093 3 роки тому +4

    I see on the video that you paste the wall & apply the wallpaper dry, straight from the roll. I have bought some anaglypta wallpaper and the application instructions indicate that the paper should be pasted then left to soak for 15 minutes before positioning on the wall. Won’t soaking it make it more difficult to handle and prone to tearing? I’ve never wallpapered before. Your advice would be most appreciated.

    • @spencercolgan
      @spencercolgan  3 роки тому +5

      Do not follow those instructions. If you let that stuff soak 15 minutes, I promise you you will be able to put your finger through it; paste the wall and spread it out.
      Take a spray bottle first and missed your wallpaper backing let it mist and expand on your table by paste the wall, make no mistake with the wallpaper with water only and paste your wall and you will love me for telling you this advice

    • @SoSo-li6dn

      Let it soak, the paper needs to be v wet when placed, if you dont let it soak it will dry too quickly and shrink too much, pushing the it out of line.. these walls looks smooth so there is no problem in not (would have been better to paint) but ppl like to use tex wallpaper on walls that have imperfections - if you dont let it soak it will dry bumpy.

    • @666wilf
      @666wilf 2 роки тому

      That's correct but I would say only soak with paste for 5 minutes because it expands. Don't worry though coz anaglypta is the easiest paper to put up.. what ever you do don't put it up dry. Paste, leave for 5 minutes then apply to wall. Don't treat it like paste the wall. Never use a knife to cut it in with. Use scissors only because it rips easy.

      Ross, I don’t like them because I feel like it’s another added step to my work; after I use the brush I still got a brush out or smooth out air pockets. So then I will brush it all the way down from top to bottom and then I got to use my smoother. You probably use brushes and I see UA-cam videos with guys using them and I like it I just think that it would take more time for me

    It’s so nice how anytime I get ready to do something around the house, you have a video on it. I’m doing my dining room walls in a pattern similar to this one this weekend.
    Thank you!
    Edited to ask; my dining room has 3 walls, one with a standard door (it was one of those 1980s double door things. I removed them as the drive me crazy) and the 4th wall is open to the living room but it has a 12 inch drop “supported” by a column. I was going to just do an accent wall but I am now leaning towards doing the entire thing.
    My question is should I stop at the corners or carry the paper around onto the living room walls? It would be just 2 sections of 3 and 5 feet and I would leave the rest of the room painted.
    I’m worried leaving it exposed on outer corners might cause it to get snagged and loosen over time. I do not have small children but I do have cats who rub on corners.

    • @TheEnigmaticmuse

      Hi.last resort paper because it's cheap.its used in alot of rental properties over hear .people like to buy properties and spend the least amount of money as possible renovating it for a quick rental turn around.they ll ask us decorators to hang it when they dont want to spend thousands on having a property plastered.over here plastering can be a very expensive trade to hire in so getting a decorator to hang anyglypta and just paint over it is at least half the cost of re plastering then painting.quick fix solution for them.hides bad walls and like I say it's a cheap paper.you can buy it for as little as 3 or 4 gbp in alot of bargain shops aswell.decirators love hanging this stuff as it's the easiest of paper to hang .especially if you can get paste the wall anyglypta.i vecrecently done a rental property in anyglypta .potential to earn a decorator a lot if money per house .time is money these days especially when working on price work

      There are some decent patterned anyglypta papers out there.it can be purchased from most builder merchants stores in the uk.its widely used for the reasons I said and is the cheapest paper you can buy in the uk.well apart from lining paper.i use alot of lining paper when I have a paper hanging job.9 times out of 10 I hang lining paper cross line before applying normal wallpapers.we hang the lining paper first to achieve the smoothest surface possible for our top paper..it creates a more proffesianal looking job .but with the anyglypta I just hang straight onto walls and ceiling after I ve filled and sanded all surfaces.also 9 times out of 10 the anyglypta will be painted to get the best finish and dont see any joints what so ever.i dont know what shipping cost s are to the usa but maybe try looking online at some of our uk based stores to ser if they d ship to America.or look on amazon uk or ebay uk.if you require a list of shops to look at online I can send you a list if that helps
