I believe the actual shot speed does change. Not only input lag. Sometimes the animation itself is snappier, sometimes it’s slowed down, so you really have to focus on the cue to make every shot.
there's 4 different set of sliders for the 4 game types in my player.... u know In MYCOURT u can change the timing setting when u press start? 4 different types of different timings like wtf is that about lol
Sounds like what I said before was right. 2k panicked over an issue and we suffered for it because of their incompetence All they needed was a good report system and it'd be fine
@yungtato244 I know. They'd have to build an entire report system and have a team dedicated to monitoring those reports. I do think that would be better for them in the long run tho They'd be able to put out a product without needing to worry about built in mechanics or game modes made to combat cheaters Or they could just have better anti-cheat software. Tons of modders out there that they could higher to do that
They changed it this year. Actually after that shooting psych the community begged for. Contest now slow down shots just like fatigue. Which I think is better.
Shooting this year is hurting NBA 2k future, Is supposed to be a fun game. It is the only Basketball game we have to enjoy. For me to buy the game next year they will need to be more transparent with shooting and latency.
true this idea that wang has about keeping 3pt percentage at real life levels is stupid. it's a video game. if 50% is the best let people shoot 80%. if max vert is 40 inches let a video game jump 55 inch make it fun.
Based on this your saying the visual cue is what we should release it on, however you have to factor in the controller lag and overall server lag when playing online 2k servers are so inconsistent that even when releasing on your “cue” there is server lag and you can’t hit. They need to show us ping so we can adjust if needed My ideal changes for this game would be, invest in consistent servers that are the same across all online game modes. Show us ping so we can adjust based on location of the game if needed, keep rng if they want (or get rid of it) so it doesn't turn into a 3 point contest but tell us if we timed it perfect and it was rng that made us miss. Then give us insight into make %s by rating and dimer/boosts/hot zone boosts so we can decide what rating is best for our player, and make all jumpers have the same "green window". And of course, let us redo builds, absolutely nuts that you have to pay $100 just to even be somewhat competitive
I've always shot with visual cue. It def moves around this year lol with the animations. Actually, you could still be timing it correct but the fact there isn't a 100% window, you can miss and think it was user error.
Only watching for your shot animation visual cue to time your shots sounds easier than it really is. Input lag affects all inputs, which will directly affect your visual cue. Depending on your input lag, the time it takes for your player to start the shot animation and finish the animation will both be delayed and so will your visual cue. Ex. if your jumpshot visual cue is on "Set," with the input lag, your new visual cue would be closer to "push." And "push" to "release" and so on. Playing online with "Crazy delay" has always been 2k's Archilles heel and may be hard to adjust to. That's why you can shoot lights out in one game and atrocious in the others. Or in the 2k community's words..."Trash." Your visual cue will not be the same as you've practiced and will change slightly from game to game and mode to mode because of server and connection issues. You will just have to relearn your cue in-game. Yes, this is super annoying but once your understand it, you are just going have to try to gauge the amount of delay each game and make the adjustments. Either that or 2k upgrades their servers, incorporate some kind of rollback net code or both. But honestly, I think that is highly unlikely. They proved that by adding shot profiles, which does help players with really bad delay be a little more competitive. But of course is frowned upon by the 2k Gods lol.
It’s even tougher than that. He took 10 shots in a row and 2 had a different input lag so the even adjusting in game is almost impossible. There is no reason why the lag can’t change mid-shot either.
Although the jumpshot animation speed isn’t changing, the overall speed of the jumpshot is changing due to the input lag. This is huge in a game where you have so many factors affecting the speed of your overall jumpshot speed (catch animations, input lag, defender, etc). Also keep in mind that even when paying attention to the visual cue, you subconsciously develop a shot timing off of muscle memory with how long/short you hold the button. I also think this is why everyone struggled w/shooting when 2k25 released. Running my same jumpshot animation speed (w/visual cue in release) as 2K24 appeared to have a later visual cue on 2k25 (hold button longer), and i think everyone had to find their timing with the new adjustment to where you wanted your visual cue in 2k25. Also, if you pay attention to the blends of jumpshots in 2k25, it will move your visual and we didn’t have that in 24. Thanks for the video Tutes !
There is a “realistic “ factor that’s added based off different things even standing still certain animations have to reach a certain point before they can be interrupted by the next input (triple threat, catching, dribbling etc)
This is why they need to tell us how far in plus and minus milliseconds we are from the center of the green window. Then we can adjust for input lag game to game and you can’t set a zen consistently since the input delay changes.
As someone who goes solely off the animation bro shot speed changes definitely, usually I notice it happens based off of the animation before mixed with my stamina so u really have to study your players tendencies fr
Is there a significant difference is the green window for taking open shots vs wide open shots? It feels like people miss more open shots vs wide open but my friends will take a lot of open shots without hesitation as opposed to finding a wide open shot.
Input lag has to be the dumbest thing they've ever put into the game. This BS is why shooting can feel so inconsistent. They're not slowing down cheaters they're just punishing everyone else. They need to get rid of the meter to stop cheaters
Tutes you have to understand latency online. If you are holding the button longer at the start, the game will register you releasing the button later. That’s why when I get those delayed animations, I have to release the button slightly before the actual visual cue because the game has to catch up. If that makes sense
The changing speed for me is the contested jumpshots. I contested people with a 5'9 build and they will green with you jumping at them most times. So eventually I will leave them open because even though 2k registered it open, it changed your shot timing and sometimes it pays off and sometimes it don't.
It’s just hard to take these test as fact when you’re doing them in offline settings. Even if I connect to server and go onto MyCourt I can hit 85/100 shots but once I go into an actual game the input lag is insanely different. You can have the exact same scenario happen twice, same pass speed, catch animation, and timing used for your shot but the input lag on one of them is so much different it results in a miss. Sometimes it takes almost a full second for my guy to even start his shooting animation and sometimes it’s instant. This is on a wired fiber connection on a 144hz monitor with a wired Edge controller.
The visual cue time it takes to elapse from gather to release changes a lot shot to shot. I am guessing it has to do with a low 3 ball and low timing stability.
Rely on your cue, but know the time to which you reach that cue can he off. Get used to your base and how it moves in different situations and you'll be good
I think they do. Because I have had days where Im nailing it, and the next day its way different. I am sick of them doing this. I know they want to stop cheaters, but they are screwing over everyone.
Tutes do you have any form of contact looking to run some ideas by you and just want to make sure you can actually see them. There’s a lot of aspects that people are looking for but don’t really know how to ask that might allow you to accomplish multiple videos at the same and also expand the scope of your work. I’m not looking for money or anything like that I just think I have some ideas that can help. Much respect
This video made me subscribe . Can you do one that I feel is as equally important. So how shots are affected when you press the shoot button before the ball is caught leading to you pulling the jumpshot. Are those shots counted towards your animation throwing your cue off is the question
At this point. When i decide to hop on 2k if my player seem off after like three games i just hop off the game. Everyday 2k feels different, its making me feel a lil crazy. One day im doing great the next day every other game be acting strange.
I rely on a mixture of timing and visual cue leaning more towards the animation tho so I don't really even think about the input lag I kno it's there and I adjust for it or shoot thru it
Shot speed changes when you're open, contested, around the arc (in the corner, the wing, and the top of the key), and when you take a dribble. Out of touch Mike Wang probably thought he ate with this game.
If you look at the channel, you can notice that badge videos don’t have much views which means not much players are interested about it. Thanks for recommending though
Shot speed does change these has nothing to do with what I be thinking about but maybe this helps other I’ve just adapted to jumpshot becoming extremely quick to normal to snail slow I say extremely become basically like a bullet sometimes
I learn in my red zone my shot speed give me a slightly late so when pick my spots, I know when too let go faster I don’t try too look so much on cue but when in my lethal zone I take my time Visual and shoot
Very not true, i only look at my cue, its very simple cue, and no matter how PERFECT i release it, after the first 2 greens, i auto miss a 3 unless i take at least one middy then i can take another 2 3's which is very dumb if i am depending on my shot cue and it should never change.
I’m high key tired of ppl gas lighting in these comments. Talkin about “you have to shoot using a cue” bro we been shooting using a cue since 2k23. I was a great shooter in both games. How can I magically not shoot consistently off a cue anymore. I used to be able to understand why I missed in previous 2ks, and know 100% when I timed it right. When I shoot now I have no idea if it’s going in or not. (I’m not shooting bad, I’m shooting 49% from 3 w/ a 78 3ball.)
meter made this obvious... we've always had input lag this year's just all over the place 🤦🏽♂️ I think feedback is the issue that shi is NEVER accurate!
no cause its 10x worse since you have to time it twice. I was forced to start button shooting cause the rythm shooting timing changes every day/week. one day its too fast, so you slow it down and now it's too slow.

Changes when you’re not wide open, you’re right
Ya that’s been a thing for a while. Shot speed changes depending on a lot of factors.
And in corners too
Nah this year it’s random cause I get slowdowns & speedups even in wide open catch & shoot situations
For sure. Used to only change on contested but now it can happen for a number or reasons wide open
Show me the same concept in the rec
I had 1 American, 1 French , 1 German and 1 Romanian team mates in a random rec game , this is the real problem with rec shooting
It's definitely a change in rec 😂😂😂😂

You should do a test with how your shot is impacted when a defender is there as well and how that impact the shot timing.
Thanks for the suggestion!

Fix the freaking load ups then why is that a thing in these recent 2ks
It definitely changes speed sometimes it speeds up so fast I can’t even react to the shot
So basically different load ups causing different animations for the shot to start but shot speeds stays the exactly the same
yes
And that in turn will throw you off while trying to time your jumper.
