There's no connecting lines when you hitch up wagons. The brake handle Drae is trying to us isn't in the game yet. You are suppose to use the main brake in Service position 1,2,3 or emergency.
The correct method, is to use that bigger one to select method of braking. service 1,2,3 & emergency 1,2,3 they all drain more pressure faster and brake harder. but he needs to use the mini brake handle above that that shows the %, that is the brakes actually being applied to the train. 100% service 1 is nice and slow. 100% emergency 3 would brake really hard (close but not immediately) but lose pressure almost immediately. because yes the handle above throttle is currently not active in the game.

Put it into service with supply or the charge position to lift the pedal back up.
Well Drae the average gamer usually pays attention to what the game is telling us and we generally read the instructions on the screen. That's how we play these games.
Service braking 1 works on the red main brake handle just give it time around 700 meters from where you want to stop slowing from 60kmh. The further down you pull the handle the harder it applies and the more pressure you loose not to mention the amount of wear on the wheels. Also there’s a green light on the dash when you’re in the optimum position with the power lever. Typically it’ll light up at 16 that will accelerate and hold you at 60kmh after you pass 40kmh also notch 10 holds you at 40kmh and notch 5 for 15kmh. I will have a video up in a couple of days to explain things further.

I get the start up procedure being confusing, even I could barely follow that... but I seriously don't understand how you have "main brake" labeled in front of your face yet you still can't figure out how to brake
the game is so indepth with it's things, i think this is just a modified train simulator and you might be qualified to be a russian locomotive driver lol
In real life, handbrake on a train is only used when the train is stationary on a hill, same as car handbrake, it locks the wheels mechanically. Locomotive brakes uses air pressure for braking and if it is connected to wagons it will brake with them as well if wagon brakes uses air to operate. So, if your connected wagons support air braking your whole train will brake when you pull the locomotive brake lever, if happens that wagon brakes are mechanical, it means that you have to go thru each wagon an set the brakes manually. I am speaking of real life trains but I think in this game there is like 99.999% similarities, so check which brakes you have on wagons or check if you have some air brake connection between locomotive and wagon next to it.
