      Please read Gregory's autobiography, "Cross to Bear." He said that he had never considered having to run the band; he thought of himself as the Hammond-playing vocalist. He said that Dickey thought that he had to "run" the band, and that if he had thought he could start over, the first thing he would do was fire Dickey Betts.
      Yeah, I know it sounds bad; but READ GREGG'S BOOK ! !

      @MARKIEBANUNCE The Allman Brothers Band was an American rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1969[3] by brothers Duane Allman (founder, slide guitar and lead guitar) and Gregg Allman (vocals, keyboards, songwriting), as well as Dickey Betts (lead guitar, vocals, songwriting), Berry Oakley (bass), Butch Trucks (drums), and Jai Johanny "Jaimoe" Johanson (drums). Subsequently, based in Macon, Georgia, they incorporated elements of blues, jazz and country music and their live shows featured jam band-style improvisation and instrumentals. So many bands started in Jacksonville too.

      And from your high horse you wish to cast judgement upon Paul Parks and the members of the band with that statement? Does that make you feel good?
      I feel I have to put some things into perspective with your absent-minded statement. The ABB suffered tragedy like no other band in rock, save maybe Lynyrd Skynyrd. I love the Allman Brothers (I'm a first-generation fan), but Betts is reaping what he sowed, and he admits that his long-term behavior is what drove him out of the band.

      I've noticed its ALWAYS the UA-cam channels with no content themselves that are most critical of others. Be careful you don't reap what you sow.

      I'd say Greg was fortunate that it was his band. W hen you think of long term behavior issues he is the king. Betts was an all time great and we all reap what he sowed. .

    • @dzjc01
      @dzjc01 3 роки тому

      I get it. Betts was a phenomenal guitar player and songwriter. There's no debating that. It was *his* admission that his behavior drove him out of the band. Greg and Duane hand their own issues with drugs and alcohol, so there's that, but it was their band at the end of the day.

    OK, so Paul is Paul, no problem. He's cool, and nerdy. And Dave was almost an actual hero to me. But c'mon, get Paulie outa there. Let these modern day genius artists bestow their brilliance upon us unimpeded please. Makes Paul look like a pretentious little wannabe prick and Dave complicit in the obscenity. It's like pretending to paint along side Monet, or one of them....wish we could go back in time.
