On my version of this game I placed 2 tomato greenhouses with plans to perhaps add a couple of lemon ones in the future. I also got a chicken coop that can house 100 chickens. That little Massey shovel is perfect for tending to the mess the chickens make with their feed, and the tractor is tiny and maneuverable enough to get around. I only have a 2000L water tank right now and that makes filling up the greenhouses a chore. I also don't have any pigs or cows yet, so I have to buy in the manure, which is very cheap. I am also planning on setting up a fruit tree orchard to help replace some of the trees I've cut for lumber. I am pretty pleased with the progress I've made. I am using a John Deere 4WD tractor, I think the 6300 which is modded to 105HP and changes model number to the 6450 S I think. It is a horse, does everything I ask of it with a top speed of 19MPH. It is clear though, to move on from the starter field, I need a bigger tractor and bigger implements for larger fields for it. It probably also means getting a front loader attachment for the John Deere so I can have a competent front loader tractor, and just use my new 200HP-ish tractor for field work to start. I want a big field I can use solely for silage making and then can support a cow pen. The issue I am having right now is figuring out when the best time is to plant and sell crops. I am on Hard Economy, and I am not running seasons. The prices always seem to be pretty terrible save for my first crop of soybeans which sold for an excellent price. It's never been anything close to that high again.
I always get a laugh as logging started out cut and fit to trailer, then a bit large, then most of a tree turned sideways, now just carry the whole tree.
The pond needs to go in the middle to fill the water, but the tractor will not sink there when there is a shallow pond. Thank you for this is expected again, the best series!
Personally I don't mind all the Timelapses but also don't feel like you have to record driving to and from the store every time a little cut here and there is fine plus that will mean more time in the video for you to farm and do another stuff Keep up the good work love the series 👍
With this kind of start up, it is the only way to make money quickly. On hard economy the prices for crops are pretty lackluster, and seem to remain that way for a long time. Still, once I got three decent fields going on my farm, I slowly but surely didn't need to depend on trees anymore. I saved up and then got 2 greenhouses and they are providing me solid, steady income. I am going with some fruit trees next I think. I want some nice, constant, steady income because the market always seems to be hosting terrible prices for my crops no matter when I am looking to sell them.
@PonyPearson - For consol mods you can look at Mr Sealy P's channel where he tells you about the slot counts etc... (apologies @Daggerwin if this is frowned upon - just trying to get him/her on the right path to enjoy FS as much as we do.) Consol is slightly limited compared to PC but still awesome to play on :) Happy farming!
Not sure if you've already experienced this, but you might want to avoid the small tipper/flatbed that comes with your little Ferguson tractor. When you disconnect it the tongue seems to get stuck in the ground, even resetting it doesn't seem to help. I bought it to haul liquid fertilizer pallets and only used it once, couldn't move it after. I even tried it with a 400+ HP tractor and it just made me do a stationary wheelie.
I've only had it stick like that once, and I used it very often while starting out. That happened when I was moving something else and accidentlly flipped the flatbed over. While trying to right it with super strength, the tongue did stick in the ground. It took me forever to get it unstuck. Otherwise, over the thousands of times I've used it, never had a problem.
That set of silos along the side of the dealership is a multi-buying point. Just pull up to it and you can fill your cart and implements with whatever you like.
On the water pumping station there is a sight It says to use turn water tape so you need to get out the tractor and then you can us it I hope that help with the series love the challenge
Sell the Fergy! It'll help you get your stump grinder or whatever. You'll have more room to store items. The Fergy isn't used enough to justify keeping it. There's probably a farmer who's just starting out that looking for a tractor like your Fergy.
It isn't really worth much to sell. The thing is about 2000 brand new. If he is going to be doing some animal work, the little Massey is great for that.
Love the series just a couple of things 1 is the outlet on the side of the shop you can buy things and u am pretty sure you can buy manure from it if may be more expensive and 2 if you buy the land the store is in in front of the store is 2 post cut both down it deletes all trees and the rocks you cant adjust with the terrain part just an idea no money from it though that would be nice
Daggerwin. Don't know if you know this already or if anyone said it yet. You will want to grind all the stumps that you leave behind, not just where you put want a field. The stumps cause a decline in fps overtime and taxes your system. You won't have near the issues like in the logging side even in career mode but it will still happen. Something to do with it still registering as an object or something else instead of a tree and after so many it messes with graphics even on the stout gaming PCs. Look forward to the next episode
There's a mod on Modhub called Lumberjack that lets you grind stumps with the chainsaw. It also gives you an always on target line, lets you cut faster, and lets you cut trees anywhere on the map. Would make it so you don't need to spend money on a stump grinder.
I found that mod really laggy, everytime I get the chainsaw up its so laggy, its a cool idea of a mod but not the best as it does not show the action of cutting the tree stump

to fill up with water you need to open the valve, get as near to the valve and will pop an option to open the valve water then you will be able to fill the tank with water
Get workshop tabber. It let's you use tab to switch between all vehicles and equipment within a workshop so you can have tractors with attachments on and multiple things inside large workshops

That water tank is a fill station. You have to get out and turn on the valve in front of the tower to be able to then fill your tank.

With the water pump station, you need to undo the valve on it. I’m not sure what button it is but it does work

And remember that after a certain amount of time passes, not that much really, the valve automatically shuts off again when not being used.

What about the lumberjack mod, it allows you to ground/delete stumps with the chainsaw.

The water pump works you just have to turn it on first by walking up to it and pressing the correct key
