- Vom düster-schleppenden "Whap Whap" bis hin zum verspielt-sleazy Sound von "Missbnasty": Skillibeng gehört zu den derzeit angesagtesten Namen in Sachen Dancehall. Seit seinem Durchbruch 2019 hat der produktive Jamaikaner mit einer Reihe von Hymnen eine weltweite Fangemeinde aufgebaut.
Skillibeng alias Emwah Warmington stammt aus einer eher ländlichen Gegend im Osten Jamaikas, aber sein Sound könnte kaum urbaner sein. Der Deejay und Rapper bringt 2015 - mit zarten 19 Jahren - seine erste offizielle Single "Pain & Emotion" heraus, direkt im gleichen Jahr legt er "Skilli She Love" nach.
Der Durchbruch kommt 2019 mit der EP "Prodigy", 2020 folgt sein Debütalbum "The Prodigy", das ihn auch in den USA bekannt macht und Platz 16 der US-amerikanischen Reggae Album Charts erreicht.
Mit seinen scheppernden Beats, 80s-beeinflussten Synths, provokanten Rap-Parts und Autotune-Gesang trifft Skillibeng den Nerv der Zeit. Magazine wie "The Face" und "I.D." handeln ihn als "heißesten Act aus Jamaika". Er macht Remixe für Nicki Minaj, DJ Khaled, Sean Paul, Wizkid, Popcaan und viele andere. 2022 gewinnt Skillibeng in London den Mobo Award in der Kategorie "Best Caribbean Music Act".

They changed the original video from a 40 minutes video to 90 seconds. So not this exact clip. I saw the entire performance and they were singing 95% of his set. This channel only kept the last 90 seconds of that video for some reason.
