    • @FootheFlowerhorn
      @FootheFlowerhorn  6 років тому +5

      It's hard to say without knowing the size of your fh. Usually for a young flowerhorn, you can feed 2~3 times a day. But very little each time. So at the last meal of the day, watch for his stomach bulge. Make sure the bulge is not too big. And next day, make sure his bulge has subsided when you start feeding. If his bulge is too big, you should skip a meal or two until his stomach subsides.

      Samuel Roy Paul Cuffareo aka florida man killing fish for views kills fish by putting them in small tanks or in wrong tank mates and also he does not give a shit about the fishes parameters.There is some fish that he’s has not updated in many months or years like his goulper catfish his many bettas that he has at his parents house and also his 10 gallon with 10 glo fishes.He also had a german shepherd for a few months until he gave it away to his mom friend because he couldn’t take care of it.He feeds his big fish feeder goldfish that he does not quarantined he teaches his fan base uneducated fish things to do with fish.Basically his fan base is mostly stupid 9 to 11 year olds that don’t know how to take care of there fishes I could write a whole book about his problems.But I think this could help.

  • @LamSieu-cf8ni
    @LamSieu-cf8ni 8 років тому

    It actually has little to do with his food (I mean the food can help enchanting the color, but if your fish gen doesn't has a hump then no matter how big it grows to, it will never has a hump). It's the gen. You are a very lucky person when you bought the fish that small with no kok. It's like betting on something. Now it turns out to be a beautiful red dragon with a decent kok.
    Congratulation mate!

    • @FootheFlowerhorn
      @FootheFlowerhorn  8 років тому +1

      thanks, yea, I agree with you. genetics plays first row. however, water quality and food will get it to its fullest potential. no matter how big the hump was on the generation before, poor water quality and not enough nutrition will stunt the growth of the hump. My FH was probably considered a runt by the breeder. after picking out his brothers with the biggest hump, he was either gonna be a feeder fish, or in my case sold as an el-cheapo FH. I paid around $5 for him. there was some luck, I'm sure, but very clean water and power feeding definitely helped.

      +Foo the Flowerhorn Honestly, we can literally not guess the sex of the flowerhorn when it's that small. I will have to keep my finger cross for my next flowerhorn. Dam, lucky guy!

    • @FootheFlowerhorn
      @FootheFlowerhorn  8 років тому

      well, I did ask the seller to pick one with no black marks on the dorsal fin, since it has the best chance of being a male.

  • @PremiumK9Krunchies
    @PremiumK9Krunchies 7 років тому

    Nice. You say '80.6' is the exact temperature you keep your tank maintained at, just wondering how you achieve such reliable, constant temp.? I'm looking to get a flowerhorn after I upgrade tank size. Thanks

    • @FootheFlowerhorn
      @FootheFlowerhorn  7 років тому

      it's just 27°C converted to Fahrenheit. I had my heaters hooked up to a digital temp controller. it kept it at 27°C and when water went down to 26.5°C, it turned on. when the temp went over 27°C, a fan in the sump turned on to lower the temps. that was also controlled by the digital temp controller. that temp is not a must. if your tank keeps pretty stable temps, it's ok. FHs are very hardy fish. they can tolerate wide range of temps. upto 33°C max. IMO, 27°C is the best. but they can do well in other temps. here's the video of the setup. ua-cam.com/video/o_qj_ePHQe4/v-deo.html

    I just purchased a baby flowerhorn 4 days ago, I put him in a 40 gallon breeder alone. all he does is swim fast around the back of the tank not paying any attention to anything. is he stressed or something? don't really eat much either. I try to be interactive with it and just he don't seem to care. thought about adding some kind of loach for a month or so to clean up the food that just sinks to the bottom, not sure what to do?? tank is at 82 degrees

I have a fluval 406 and big sponge filter in a 60 gallon tank with a finnex monster Ray led light. just wondering what filtration you are using and your light set up. everything about your setup is perfect. thank you and hope to see your response

    • @FootheFlowerhorn
      @FootheFlowerhorn  8 років тому +1

      +Edwin Valentin thanks. I'm using a diy sump. overflow and the sump is diy. I just used a 10gallon tank and added sections. for the lighting, I'm using a leecom ld-460. it's a bit high on the blue spectrum so the red doesn't pop as much. I used to have a 6500k led lighting, but the blue didn't pop very much on that one. your tank sounds like your flowerhorn will love it! how's the monster ray? does it make the colors pop better than others?

      well, when I first got him, he was around 2 inches with very little blue pearls. he was pretty bland. then when I started feeding him mealworms and freeze dried red shrimp in conjuction with hikari cichlid gold, I saw dramatic change in his blue pearls. it took around 2 weeks and he was a different fish. for the red, it took him many months to develope that.

    I think it depends on genetic factors. Food only to provide optimal / maximum effect to the growth of fish

      if your temps go over 27°c during summer all day long, you don't need a heater.

    Which filter and water conditioner do you use? I have a sun sun canister filter but my flowerhorn is elergic to it so I'm not able to use it anymore. I had some ceramic rings and purigen in that filter. Pls suggest..

    Do you clean inside of the tank? It looks supper clean with no algae. Does the fosh attack your hand when you do that?

    • @FootheFlowerhorn
      @FootheFlowerhorn  8 років тому

      yea, I use magnet cleaner and a bent toothbrush stuck to a long acrylic pipe for the bottom. I barely get algae in this tank mainly b/c of sump and high water turnover rate, and I siphon out his waste everyday. These days, I don't put my hand in the tank b/c he definitely attacks your hand. He has drawn blood from my fingers, hand, wrist, and arm. lol. Usually you can just push him aside, but he can be super fast at biting you.

      How big is your acrilyc pipe? and where did you buy it?
      Nvm, you showed it in your video :)

    • @FootheFlowerhorn
      @FootheFlowerhorn  8 років тому

      I used a lighter to bend a toothbrush(aroudn 45 degrees). I used a 13mm thick acrylic pipe. I had to shave a little bit the of end of the toothbrush to fit it in the pipe. I used hot glue gun to secure it. I got it online. big hardware chains should carry them, but not sure.

    I use a 2 feet fish tank,my fish very active and its hump is not much bigger, but it is a male flower horn,i feed him dried shrimps and ocean free pro head...what do you suggest me.fast reply pls

    • @FootheFlowerhorn
      @FootheFlowerhorn  8 років тому

      make sure the water quality is good. poor water quality can stunt the growth of your fh and the hump. for growth of fh in general and the hump, live mealworms seem to work the best in my experience. good luck.

    3:27 Weird to think that a fish can become constipated, living in water, but I'll take your word for it!
