Ina Fhang-Od is already 93 years old and still doing this form of art. We hope that she will still live longer and passes her talent to her two mentee. Long live ina.

Awesome documentary! Good to know Fang-Od is still going strong. I was fortunate enough to visit Buscalan in 2010 and was tattoo'd by Fang-Od herself, but here a few details were added to the meaning of the tattoos that I managed to miss so this is really helpful. I feel very honored!

Thanks for this documentary. How in the heck we lost this kind of tradition especially in the Visayas islands where we are known as tough Warriors in the past? You can see these tradition in the whole Pacific islands from Hawaii down south. This is not only a Kalinga tradition. It's the whole islands of the Philippines.

I was lucky enough to get a tattoo by Whang Od just last month. She decided the design (python)and the placement of it herself. I felt so honored and lucky to be able to receive a tattoo from her. I spent 3days in the village and the people there were so hospitable and accommodating. It was a humbling experience and the trip to get there was an adventure in itself.

I went back first week of July. There is no exact address. She lives in Buscalan, Kalinka Province, Philippines. Ohayami Bus makes the trip from Manily to Bontoc. From Bontoc its a local bus trip from about 3 hours...then it´s a trail from about 1,5 hour walking. In Buscalan everybody can bring you to Fang-Od...Stay there for at least 2 nights...you can find Ohayami Bus in the internet and even book online

No more Cable tour bus, to be able to go to Wang-od, take Ohayami Bus, near UST, Lacson Ave., Destination Manila to Bontoc, then take jeep Bontoc to Tinglayan, there you can see Wang-od.

amazing documentary you guys! I love how the intro with modern tattoo techniques and macklemore in the bg contrasts the kalinga tradition you covered in the rest of the documentary. Mad respect for Fine Arts students who experience the culture by living with the kalinga for a few days! May I ask what song plays at around 1:36? thank you!

I'm sure the tattoos of women were more than just physical attraction. In my opinion, tattoos from an ancient stand point, would be more spiritual and/or meaning deep meanings.

You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any tattoos upon you: I am the L-rd. Leviticus. 19: 28

Sabi nga ng Panginoon, “you cannot serve two masters, for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.” Matthew 6:24
