Brings a lump in my throat if not tears every time I am reminded of the great loss I felt (and still feel) when I learned of his early demise. He was a true poet, lover of life, music and humanity.
I remember growing up in the 80's and seeing this news reporter quite regularly on local news. Little did I know at the time what he was creating behind the scenes. I now truly appreciate the genius of the man. Thanks Tony.
Up here in West Cumbria, we could pick up Granada via "Pipe Television" & my 1st memory of Tony Wilson was seeing him effortlessly anchor Granada Reports. I later saw him present the brilliant late-night arts programme "The Other Side Of Midnight".
Its ironic that for all the love Wilson had of Manchester it was their primary care trust that, not killed him, but condemned his life to be much shorter than it could well have been. The postcode lottery in full effect.
One of the definitive voices of Granada TV

It's sad because the black guy presenting died about a year later 😢😢
He died in 2020 I think.
It seems that he influenced pretty much everyone he met, some in a positive way, some not so positive. I sure wish I could have met him though!
anyone know the name of the "Your Silent Face" cover at the end?
St Antony by Mike Gary
