What strikes me about this video is that everybody in that audience related to this song as a loner at one point in their life where The Smiths seemed like the only thing on earth that understood them. Must be amazing to stand in an audience where tens of thousands of people just like you are all singing their hearts out.
So glad I was born in the 1960s and was around to see the smiths when they first arrived on the scene they are the very best of British music
I'm 26 and my average festival or music event I go to is strictly techno with no lyrics in a dark room with strobe lights....... Yet here I am in 2020, currently furloughed and listening to Morrissey wishing I could have witnessed this in the 80s!!!
I think this is the best song Morrisey has ever writter
I think it's the best song ever written by anyone, anywhere at any point in any time at life. Just my opinion though
@@dean-marr It's definitely Marr's best song, cos he hasn't done anything worth remembering since 1986.
UNREAL AUDIENCE. Could hear each and every word of the song SO BEAUTIFULLY by them. Absolutely unreal. And for Morrissey, what a voice man. What a song. What a band!
Okay but I am glad I was born in a generation where I can listen to all these masterpieces in just a click😭😭 still I wanna listen Morrissey sing live tho🤷🏻♀️
JwahAmore41 you lucky fella! I wish I had seen him earlier when he performed in NYC😭
it's pretty remarkable how many people my music touches.... I think I am very lucky in that way, I think I have you to be the most thankful fan ❤️ 🎹🌹🎹🌹🎹🌹.
@@morrissey7146 is this satire or are you really trying to pretend to be Morrissey? isn't very convincing if it's meant to be serious
@@sweetnuthin cmon guys, he’s obviously real! just look at that hefty 13 subscriber count!
the chorus still gives me chills... love this song... ;-)

gives me goosebumps to hear the crowd so moved by the chorus!!!
this song will be listened to forever, there will never be a time in the universe where somebody isn’t playing this very song, in thousands of years it will still be played, it is timeless, let that sink in.
Brings me to tears just from the memories of the time around it.

@@morrissey7146 Awesome song, without being morbid it will be played at my funeral, it works on so many levels. Thankyou for giving it to the world, hope to see you again soon (last time was Brighton, 2018)

That one song that can move any generation. We've all felt the lyrics. We've all gone through that phase, that angst, and that depression.
Take me out tonight
Where there's music and there's people
And they're young and alive
Driving in your car
I never never want to go home
Because I haven't got one
Anymore
Take me out tonight
Because I want to see people and I
Want to see life
Driving in your car
Oh, please don't drop me home
Because it's not my home, it's their
Home, and I'm welcome no more
And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine
Take me out tonight
Take me anywhere, I don't care
I don't care, I don't care
And in the darkened underpass
I thought oh God, my chance has come at last
(but then a strange fear gripped me and I
Just couldn't ask)
Take me out tonight
Oh, take me anywhere, I don't care
I don't care, I don't care
Driving in your car
I never never want to go home
Because I haven't got one, da...
Oh, I haven't got one
And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine
Oh, there is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
Best live version of this song imo
i cant take out this song of my head!

The smiths are like wine, its getting better as it ages
I'm only 3 years old at this time (2004), but I'm still happy coz I discovered this band. I'm obsessed by this line: "To die by your side is such a heavenly way to dieeee"
@@manuelpua4618 it’s a movie where the protagonist listens to the smiths so and was listening to this song and he met a girl who was the smiths fan as well and started dating I think you’d like it
Yesterday i found my 13y old son singing this song outloud in his room.... #parentingwelldone in the times of reggaeton
I don't think there is another songwriter quite like Morrissey, he hits the emotions of of the human heart that most others can't, just amazing!!
Seeing Morrissey in Manchester for the first time next month. Praying he does There is a light
I can only Imagine what it feels like being in the crowd. Screaming and just singing along. It must have felt amazing. Overwhelming with emotion
This is one of Morrisey's finest performances of this wonderful song
I was there, i bought my ticket for this, the day my first daughter was born, a few months before in April, it was such a special gig, firstly it was in Stretford, literally a few hundred yards where Morrissey grew up, secondly it was my first Morrissey gig, thirdly as a fellow Stretfordian and former pupil at the same school as Morrissey, it was great hearing Moz sing "The Headmaster ritual" only myself and Morrissey knew exactly how awful that place was!
And finally, last September, i took my little girl (now 19) to her first Morrissey gig in Blackpool, she adores him as much as i do.😊
How did the Blackpool gig compare? Glad you're making amazing memories with your daughter.
Just went to Roger waters with my old man last month. The gig was great but the quality time was worth the admission fee alone.
@@minton5388 the biggest difference was that the Blackpool gig was in an old theatre, just less than 2,000 people, cosy and intimate, the Old Trafford gig was outdoor, with around 45,000 people in attendance, both were really special in their own ways.
Funnily enough, my first ever gig was seeing Pink Floyd on the 8/8/1988 at Maine Road, Manchester, Manchester City's old ground, as City supporter, it was probably the best performance I saw at Maine Road in the 1980s! 🤣
I was moved by your story. Congratulations to you and your daughter. I'm from Brazil and I love Morrissey ❤
I love this song since 80's.
Fans of Manchester United and Manchester City singing togheter, that's music power, dear!!!!!
the crowd give me chills and ghostbumps
I remember watching this at the age of 5, 13 years on, still loving moz!
Morrisey's voice sounds so good live. A lot of live acts have terrible vocals but he sounds great.
Eu amo e não canso! Essa música tem uma energia incrível, consigo sentir todo o sentimento quando ele canta, a dor é quase palpável e isso é tão lindo!
Morrissy voice is effortless perfection and puts so much feeling into his performance. The audience just wow, what a connection he has with them. I don't want to sound like a old curmudgeon, but in todays iphone/social media world, I don't think you can recreate this.
Incredible good. I love Morrissey since 80’s it takes me back to my young age 15/16 when the world was not like now. I love all Morrissey songs , he is incredible talented and beautiful inside out❤️ unique , rare talented 💕
This song never gets old. I listen to it everyday and it still hits the same like the first time i heard it
FANTASTIC SONG!
Pure heaven....
Morrissey and Manchester...so much to answer for...and they did...with love...
Seriously this song saved me from committing suicide at my early teens, I just grasped to it as hard as I could, and it did save me .
Can’t imagine the emotions while listening this song live, truly amazing
Such an iconic song
I've already cried listening to this tune here in Brazil. 😢
If double decker bus crashes into me i will still come to hear this song
this is the greatest song ever written and the best live performance of it
Fuck me. Goosebumps everytime the crowd sings the chorus. 🥺😭
No Brasil, anos 90 todos nós roqueiros curtiamos Smiths. Esses caras são lenda.
Im a Morrissey fan for years, but just recently, became a fan of the smiths because of this song.
I’m a 13 year old girl btw and I’m so happy I’ve discovered bands like the smiths and I don’t just listen to rap like many of the other kids my age do. music is a HUGE part of my life and it is a really special thing to so many people I honestly think it’s a cool way to make friendships or bonds with people
realll i’m 13 too and i just love being friends with people with the same music taste as me! the smiths fans are usually the kindest people too!
Such a depression lyrics with beautiful music.....
For years this was always the final song played at the end of the night at Trash nightclub in London, as its founder, Erol Alkan, believed it was the song that best reflected youth and club culture, and all the shit you go through.
I always thought that was spot on.
truely timeless....greetings from taiwan, during crazy pandemic 2022....
Fantastic atmosphesre
Entré más escuchó, está rola más me encanta!!! The Smiths chingón el morrisey
Wow......that was intense..
The greatest, smiths my favorite, my idol Morrissey

Fantastic ! Always , when I listened! Uncredible!

Wow, that was amazing. Amazing song, amazing singer...and what an amazing crowd!
damn one of the best crowd i've seen
Wow! This has to be one the best concert videos I have seen. The editing, mixing crowd singing, just the right moves by Moz, then some crowd, then wide angle and then close up. What a treasure!
WHAT I’D JUST TO SEE MORRISSEY I’LL CRY
The definition of 80s music
Being in my 20's through the 80's was all I could ever have asked for.
Phenomenal times 🎉🥳🍾🎈
Morrissey was on absolute fire in 2004!
How this man is able to share his pains and move so many people.
he is singing it with all his heart
I feel like ithis is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen
Chills
The drumming is soooo good
♥️ so in love with this man. Always been Always will
Amazing
This song speaks to me
Banging...
Here, Moz with his best line up ever ! Such an outstanding live performance !
Inglaterra o magnífico país .... As melhores bandas do mundo sai desse país 👏
sublime!!!!
This son g is a hymn
Imagine having the power to do this to people and choosing not to do it . I’ve seen morrisey live and all he played from the smiths days was meat is murder . If he played this last everybody would have went home happy
But the trade-off is that they switch their setlist up a lot! I was able to see him and his band two times in 2009, he actually played in South Carolina twice! And both times he played two totally completely different shows with different songs
The best live performance I’ve ever fuckung saw
Thank you for the "meanings" ❤️🍀🇮🇪🇪🇦🗝️💚☮️🇮🇪
It's the keyboards that gets me.
I wish to hear this song from my kids room after years..
To die by your side 🔥🔥🔥
Great. Bloody great.
Какая песня ,какое единение с аудиторией !Морисси навсегда...
beautiful
I hate that I love this so much
I came here for the movie 500 days of summer (very good movie)
It's a lie I met the smiths in the 80s and since then I haven't stopped listening to them. This song in particular makes me so sad. but in the end it gives me a light of hope.
