    If Bob did a live version of Carnival of Venice he would own the Trombone space on youtube.

    Probably the greatist Jazz trombonist on today's music scene. Fantastic tone with unbelievable technique and musicianship.

    Wow - what an amazing trombonist !!! - inventive and musical ideas, great tone, beautiful clean articulation, spot-on intonation and really handsome too (ok - maybe not that bit, that would be just too unfair !!!).

    Just had to say Bob, you slay me! So beautiful and tasteful. I first heard on you Courtney Fortune's Hello Love and I was like, "Really? Really? who is this guy!?" You are now my favorite player, of all the great trombone players. Thanks for sharing and helping teach they younger generation!

    How do you play stuff like this?

  • @therandompauldude
    @therandompauldude 7 років тому +4

    Do the notes with an x on the stem signify muted notes or something because I heard him play them as if they were normal

    • @miniglesias
      @miniglesias 7 років тому

      if you listen carefully they're ghosted but in the doodle tonguing book, which is where this comes from, you will see that the doodle tonguing method makes you play the note just a lot softer

    • @catherinenoblet5819
      @catherinenoblet5819 3 роки тому

      He uses a lip slur on the downward partial. Writes "ah", preceded by usually "da". Because of this, it still pops like it's tongued, and mostly not that ghosted sound of partially there.

    Was he reading that? Thats crazy

    • @MrJazzologist1
      @MrJazzologist1 8 років тому +1

      +Zach Mejia To a degree he read the score. But there's such a thing as a chord sequence, and staying within that framework the notes will blend OK.
