On the back of us getting stronger, I'd really like to see us play Luton off the park in the reverse fixture at the SOL. After the way the kicked Amad in the second leg pay off semifinal we owe them that. I'm not bitter, honest.
Fantastic result really is, the way we defended with everything they thrown at us was immense but we didnt just sit back & take a draw which I'd have taken we took our chances when they came to us, previous seasons we'd have lost that game, long way to go but 6 points gap between us & WBA, in 4th im over the moon
Can't believe their keeper got off scot free with that end of game melee. He got tackled by Mepham, then kicked out at him, grabbed him by the neck, and also looked like he was going to nut Mepham as well! That's why it all kicked off. Interesting to know that we are the only team in the division who have scored in every game so far 🙂
IMO our best win of the season…and so sweet after losing to Luton in the playoffs. The Ref. was awful (again!). Jobe although quiet at times is one of our most improved players versus last season. Mundle continues to shine. Excellent summary Wayne, fully aligned with my thoughts on the game. Browne should start again on Saturday and I hope Mayenda will come back in. Lets consolidate versus Oxford!
Should really have been at least a goal to the good after 3mins but went to pieces for the remainder of the first half and rode our luck on a few occasions. Came out second half and weren't that much better until Chris Rigg took control of things in the Luton area and calmly slotted home but oh dear, Dan Neil demonstrating once again that he has the concentration levels of a caterpillar by sleeping on the job and allowing Morris to go unchallenged to assist for the equaliser. Romaine Mundle's return to the kind of performance we saw earlier was a welcome relief with the goal he lashed in and the players defensive resilience for the remainder of the game is testament to the belief RLB has instilled in the squad and long may it keep developing. Overall I thought we rode our luck on more than one occasion but as I've said before, the mark of a good team is the ability to grind out results when required so let's see the lads continue the trend and show shithouse teams like Luton that the days of pissing on Sunderland are over and that we are more than capable of returning the favour when necessary. The reaction of the Luton players at the final whistle demonstrated how we got under their skin and showed them the way to out shithouse an opponent. Oxford next so HWTL and continue with the progress 🔴⚪👏👏
Brilliant comments John, concentration of a caterpillar 😂love that!. I could not be more happier with how we were defensively solid last night. I would still like to see some earlier substitutions though but your right about riding our luck at times and it's about time we had some. Onto Saturday now and let's cement that position. Dan Neil, he needs relieving of that's captains armband ASAP.
@@onlyfoolsandsafc I think once Salis Samed is fully fit RLB will have him straight into the team and Neil being rotated between Jobe and Rigg but he'll find he has to prove himself worthy of inclusion and based on his current up and down form and inability to keep his mind on the job then I don't think RLB will hesitate to wield the axe in Neil's direction, yes I reckon RLB is that ruthless and single minded, he doesn't seem to suffer fools gladly or players who consistently show poor traits.
Too early to get carried away, we rode our luck a bit, but I'll take it. Rigg continues to impress, I don't think we'll be able to hang on to him for much longer.
Obviously you don't like it when a team mixes it up. We are direct but can play tippy tappy like you want to. I doubt u can keep this up though we shall see at Xmas
No arguments from me, yous play to your strengths. Keep what up? Being solid defensively? Our forwards losing pace? We're very hard to beat and I hope that continues.@@burleigh604
Totally agree about first half and Chris Rigg was not having a good time on the wing but, like Neil improved in the second. Luton have not changed their way of playing and we were resilient in defence. Mepham MoM for me too.
Luton fan here It is said that when u don't play well or totally over run like we did to you and still win its a sign of a good side. Well done I think it should of been at least a draw. We have gone back to our old way of winning games and we should of git something out of this one.
Hi mate, you battered us 1st half and could not believe it was 0-0 at half time. Very tight offside call and the referee was shocking. Appreciate the comments and all the best for the rest of the season.
Well I definitely wasn't expecting that, I would've been happy with a point but to come away from Luton with all 3 is absolutely fantastic and a huge statement, biggest win of the season so far IMO, we really had to fight and dig in during that game and we actually saw 2 different sides to Sunderland in this game, first half I thought we defended really well and didn't really give much away, yes we got a bit lucky with the offside goal but we got screwed against Leeds so I suppose it works both ways, it's funny when u think about it cos with the first half even though Luton dominated we could've been 2 nil up in the first 3 minutes with the Neil chance and the Browne back heel, 2nd half I thought we started to grow in confidence with our style and both our goals were absolutely class, great goal by Rigg, took it really well nice and calm for a 17 year old, the Luton goal was disappointing from our point of view, Neil who I thought was ok in the first half let Morris go before he put it back across goal, what really impressed me with Sunderland was the character of the lads, once they equalised we could've easily fell apart but we manage to retake the lead with a great Jack Clarke like goal from Mundle, I wanna say well done to Romain cos the last few games I thought he was very poor but tonight he was so much better and actually doing things a lot quicker and he worked really hard so fair play to the lad, aside from some sloppy play by Neil in the 2nd half I thought everyone did very well but again I'm gonna have to give Mepham MOTM, not as good as he was against Hull but just as important and showing his class and experience in vital away games, he's been a cracking signing, I've said some things about the regime but u have to give them credit for getting a player of Chris's caliber in, fantastic result, 4 games unbeaten, back to back wins, scored the most goals in the league so far, 8 wins from 11 and 3 points clear at the top, I'm really proud and happy to be a Sunderland fan at the moment and long may it continue, bring on Oxford on Saturday, HWTL 🔴⚪🔴⚪
Great comments mate. I'm with you, that was a massive win last night and for shows we are serious contenders this season. If we can stay clear of injuries and I fear these yellow cards biting us on the arse in the next few weeks too. But all we can do is keep performing and grinding results out and see where it takes us. Onto Saturday now. HWTL.
Illuomo was cringe . Even claiming a free kick on Chong before we scored the second . Bellingham barely brushed him and I think Chongs appealing for a free kick for a foul by Hume , who put in a brilliant tackle
They battered us,got the rub of the green with the offside goal but what counts is we put the ball in the back of the net with two fantastic strikes.Steely defending.Trai Hume made a great tackle in the lead up to the second goal! Can't believe we are three points clear!!
We are going at a rate of about 105 pts for the season at nearly a quarter of the way through and have played a good few of the fancied sides already. Could we total over 90 pts this season? There’s certainly more consistency and control in our game so far this season. If we can avoid silly losses to the poorer bottom dwellers (Which has been a bit of an inexplicable failing in the last 2 seasons) then top 2 is on the cards. There are also new players yet to contribute and money that can bolster if required at the next window,so who knows how good we can be when the pressure really comes on and injuries appear across all teams. HAWAY!!
It took us 14 games to get 28 points in the 98/99 season. If we win on saturday we would be on 28 points after 12 games. You never know we could beat the 105 points.
Well said mate, and your so right we need to take care of the bottom half teams! So many times we have fell short against teams we should be beating. Do that and we could be in business this season.
Spot on Wayne I couldn't have said any better neil should have been on the bench should have scored and was the fault for there goal and 2 fantastic goals mundel should show neil jobe and Robert's how score from outside the box 😁 sky commentaries never had good thing to say about us and the ref AGAIN was bollocks he was to get himself into vision express today 😁 bring on Saturday 🤞🤞
Cheers Charlie, great comments.I still don't think we shoot enough from outside the box. We have the likes of Jobe and Mundle can strike a ball so well.
Fantastic effort from everyone , don’t think you give Dan Neil the credit for the work he does helping out the centre backs all game it was vital for us to stay in the game 1st half . Also Wayne your spot on about commentators how they get work is disgraceful ,, roll on sat 😂😂
Cheers Janette, maybe I was a bit harsh on Dan Neil and only saw the bad bits lol. I was fuming at those commentators like. Never heard anything like it. On to Saturday to hopefully do it again.
Fantastic hard fought win against a horrible physical dirty team, they remind me of the old Wimbledon team , the crazy gang😂 . Glad Robert’s was left out as he would never have been strong enough against that team . Dan Neil for me needs to be taken out of team for a bit , he looks totally off it , take the captaincy off him and give it to Chris mepham , it may help improve his game🙏 . But so proud of this team and their never give in attitude, this could well be our year . Roll on Oxford on Saturday, may need to freshen the team up for this one , and give some others a go ,ie Watson , Connolly . Did you see Luke o’nein kick Patterson up the arse when he dropped it 😂 and then dive over the top of everyone in the mass brawl at the end 😂 , he is not wired up right , but hysterical and class 😂 my man of the match . Great video as always, love your passion for the club and your say what you think comments 👍👍👍
