BY FAR the most talented person in the competition, imo. Unfortunately, you never know how that will play out with at home voters. (assuming, of course, that the at home voter REALLY determines the winner) I hope he wins. He deserves it.

The voting viewers cast votes.
Simon decides how those votes will be counted, weighted, discarded for hanging chads, and so on.
The winner is finalized when Simon gives the name to the announcement card printer.
I hope Simon (or the home voters, if they really matter) like Shin Lim's brilliant skills and turn up their noses to the Austrian child abuse stunt act.
Shin is one of the top 3 sleight of hand card guys I've ever seen. If you don't know either Michael Vincent, who is an old school English magician with a very classical and elegant style, or Richard Turner, who is a self-confessed card mechanic, who is blind. I'm not kidding, he is blind and is still one of the greatest card magicians/mechanics ever. As he'll tell you himself, he represents why you should never play cards for money with strangers....
The Judge's cut performance by Shin was based on his act, 52 Shades of Red. In the final, we'll probably see something similar to the original act he did for Penn and Teller's Fool Us, which is just as good if not better.
One other card magician to look out for is Javi Benitez, a Spanish magician who also has incredible slight of hand. Enjoyed your vid :)
Thanks for the info! I am familiar with all these sleight artist except Javi Benitez. I have seen Javi performance on Penn and Teller but don't know too much about him. I just enjoy Shin's style and personality the most. You are well versed in sleight of hand artists!
I am an enthusiastic amateur, and I've been a fan of magic, especially sleight of hand and close up magic for over 45 years :)
I think what sets Shin apart is his use of music, and timing his reveals and sleights to the music, and he understands that magic is a very visual medium, so his speed and flourishes add to the effect. A good example is the reveal with the clear cards pealing them off to reveal the actual card, really well presented.
Richard Turner is the premier example of the reason why casinos don't let players shuffle or cut.
You should also check out *Sean Farquhar.* He was selected as the World Champion of Close-up Magic and was the first magician to fool Penn & Teller twice.
I love Shawn Farquhar as well, he is also a fantastic sleight of hand magician. I especially liked his first trick on Penn & Teller, which is an original method by him :)
So pleased that Shin got through, deservedly so :)

The two cards vanishing here 4:12 is just unbelievable if it's not a video editing. How the hell is it possible? they vanish from one fram to another without him doing anything with his hands.

Everyone saying he should win the show or it's rigged. Well no shit it's rigged, and he won't win. Don't be so stupid. It's rigged in the sense that it's a popularity contest, not a raw talent contest. Much more people can relate to singers then magicians, so they will tend to vote for the singer to win. If are not into magic, you cannot appreciate how hard this stuff is, therefore not voting for the magician.
Only half of the winners have been singers. We've also had three brilliant ventriloquists and a magician get the top spot.

50% of the winners have been singers. We've also seen three brilliant ventriloquists and one magician take the top prize.
I think that the reason why it seems singers win more is that the show has one crowd of people lumped together under "Singer." The rest of the performers are spread out over several categories, so they don't look like a crowd.
Try this: Pull all of the non-singing acts out of their individual slots and gather them together under "Not Singers." Now you have two groups of the same size.

He’s always used this song in his 52 shades of red routine. It’s an amazing song. The routine is 7+ minutes long and goes perfect with the music but AGT cut his act and music down and edited it into 3 minutes. If you don’t like the song that’s fine but your music taste must be dog shit.

This is my opinion to call that music unpleasant. If you can't accept other people's opinion, it's fine. I have had heard so many amazing music. But this one is not good.

I hate that they always favor singers, still have hope for Shin!
All he has to vanish the singers with his magic
AGT needs to make the rules a little more strick for singers. I don't feel like its fair to all the other acts who have to create their performance from scratch. Coming on this show and singing another famous song slightly better shouldn't put you in the running for the 1 million, I do however give props to any singer coming to the show with their own original song.

The show has had non singing acts as the winner. A magic person, dog act, a ventriloquist whose different voices sounded simular.
