@CentralJerseyRailfan oh wow, thanks for that! I don't have a programmer so I'll take it to the guy I get my decoders from. Thanks for pointing that out - the thing that I really couldn't comment on was the sound. Much appreciated.
Yeah the shipping's got to be a killer Jim. Have you checked trainworld? I've always found them to have some of the best prices around - especially if you're not looking for "new releases"... It looks like that Atlas RS-1 with sound is $219.99 With shipping about $40?
@openeyes-411 thank you for your reply. That's a bit frustrating - I got my SW1500 from them the postage was readonable, but they didn't have the Alco listed when I was ordering. I don't think I paid duty on their delivery either. I'll keep a closer eye on their website, especially for general stock.
@@jimbarrett1975 Also how about eBay? There're a few actual authorized dealers on there that sell new equipment at good prices too - iirc Trainz is one seller. IDK how the overseas shipping goes tho. Good luck in your hunt, Charlie
@openeyes-411 it's the lottery of what's available that's the issue there. The only M&E RS1 I could find was from a seller who doesn't ship to the UK. A lot don't because of the tax, for a reason I haven't quite understood.
Just an FYI that your RS1 is loaded with the wrong sound file S0766 suitable for a U28/U30. If you have a Lokprogrammer load S0511 or S0825

@@jimbarrett1975 No problem. A lot of Atlas RS1s were incorrectly loaded with the wrong sound file
@@CentralJerseyRailfan cheers. Maybe they had the same guy mixing paint and loading sounds 😂 At least it's an easy fix.
