  • 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙬 𝙎𝙝𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙙 is a modern-day oratorio-told through music, poetry, and singing-that reflects on and responds to the devastating event that led to Matthew Shepard's heartbreaking death. But his life and legacy are more than his inhumane suffering, and that too is compassionately explored in this groundbreaking work by Craig Hella Johnson.
This year marks 25 years since the murder of Matthew Wayne Shepard. He was a 21-year-old student at the University of Wyoming, who was beaten and tortured for being gay and tied to a fence on the outskirts of Laramie, where he was left to die alone. He would have been 45 this year.
The Choral Project ➕ San José State University Choraliers are proud to come together to present this important piece, especially at a time in history when sympathy and understanding appear to be fading.
Performances will take place at the Hammer Theatre Center in Downtown San Jose, California, on Friday, April 14th, and Saturday, April 15th. Tickets can be purchased at www.choralproj....
