This theme actually made me in tears, not because it's some noise, hell no but because this so captures the original tune. Also, because duke's name has now pretty much become a joke :(
I don't miss VHS tapes, but some days I really miss 3.5" disks! Back in the 90s, they would actually hold important stuff like your homework or workplace crap. Plus, if you wanted the contents of it destroyed, all you had to do was take it apart and cut up the thin magnetic surface! No back-ups of any kind, no auto-upload cloud BS, just gone! Hail to the 1996 King, baby!
You know, something I think is unique about Duke Nukem against other classic games is, the famous lines "It's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum" are not from the first level, yet they are one of the most famous lines from the game. People must have loved that game so much that they actually played through the game enough to hear most of the lines. and I love that. Cuz I most certainly did. I guess once you start Duke you at least finish the shareware levels :)
As a life long fan of Duke Nukem, This was amazing on a nostalgic level! As for the floppy drives, how do you set them up to play the songs like that? Edit: Nvm, saw the FAQ in video info.
Chuck Bucy Haha.. EXACTLY what i thought when i heard this.. I was like.. Hmm did they actually use those sounds ? Cause it might as well almost have been the original music..
Lol, you have plenty of ways of knowing how. Annotations on each video indicating I have an FAQ available. Actually reading the description of my video fully and clicking the link to the FAQ. Visiting the FB page and asking me. Also have a few pictures of the setup that might give you some idea of how it works. On my newer videos there is a link to my spot on a forum that has posts on how I make my videos. The resources are there, you just didn't seek them out.
I know many people have said this already..but...WOW..these are cool. Still have tons of floppy disks, drives and all sorts but i don't think i'll be doing this any time soon
I'm sorry if that seems a bit extreme but its the only metaphors that can come close to how this makes me feel... I grew up playing this game and its interesting how similar the drives sound to the ISA creative sound blaster 16's distortion guitar... It's so amazing, I love you..... Please do Stalker and Ageeze...!!!!
He already did the battlefield 1942 theme, and all of the battlefield games use the same base song in slightly different arrangements/with slightly different instruments. The Battlefield 3 theme was already done on floppy drives.
Megadeth covered it, Lee Jackson wrote and performed the original 'Grabbag' This is a cover of the original tune, which was similar but slightly different from the 'Deth cover.
I watched this entire video with a smile on my face
A badass commenting on the theme of a badass, what sorcerey is this?
jacksepticeye didn’t expect you here
Holy shit this was so unexpected
:(
knew you liked the duke
"Hmm... don't have time to play with myself..."
Get outta my head!
Brodie Herbst No-one steals *our* chicks...and *lives*!
+Brodie Herbst It's time to kick ass and kick ass but im all out of ass - Ass Kickem 9001

*_Damn, those Alien bastards are gonna pay for shooting up my ride!_*
Hail to the disk, baby!
I've got drives of STEEL.

Those alien bastards are gonna pay for shooting up my drive!
+Redhotsmasher I'll rip your IDE out and shit down your port!
+Redhotsmasher It's time to kick ass and use RAM.
And I'm all out of RAM.
+Messer Ikea *I came to Boot ass and use RAM.
And I'm all out of RAM.
+Redhotsmasher What are you? Some bottom reading, file locking disk drive?
+Redhotsmasher Excellent, but I like "Drive it out your ass!"
This sounds like the actual sound track
yep, exactly as i remember
"Time to format disks and free memory space! And I'm all out of memory..."
(Cricket sounds)
>when the sound quality of eight floppy drives is higher then sound quality DN3D World Tour
IK, Gearbox Software, only company that can make 32bit samples worse than 16bit samples
You should have used a CRT monitor in the video to finish off the look.
Makes me think of LGR
Floppy disks and Duke Nukem ? this must be a favourite of his
Just finished watching him and got here :). Totally his thing.
This isn't his thing. It's his Doorbell. :D
LazyScoutJace 😂 Yes
This theme actually made me in tears, not because it's some noise, hell no but because this so captures the original tune. Also, because duke's name has now pretty much become a joke :(
Not alone bro. Duke's time will come again one day ! I guess he is the hero we deserve, but not the one we need right now.
It's not so bad nowadays. The 2001 build of Duke Nukem Forever is being slowly brought back to life after it somehow found its way onto the internet.
For all the youngsters out there, yes this happened when you installed Duke Nukem 3D. It was just that awesome.
😂
Hm, don't have time to play with my floppy...
That sounds insanely close to the original SB16! Well done sir. *Subscribed*
I prefer this one over Floppatron. Floppatron just sounded too light and weak. This is deep and metal af lol, I love it
"I've got drives of steel!"
8 years later & it's still awesome!
This works SO perfectly for this song in particular just because of how close the original actually sounds to this.
*Hail to the ping baby*
you sir are a master of the floppy drive music
I don't miss VHS tapes, but some days I really miss 3.5" disks! Back in the 90s, they would actually hold important stuff like your homework or workplace crap. Hail to the 1996 King, baby!
I came here to format drives and eat gum...and I am already out of Gum.
Excellent work, as usual sir. I'm amazed by how well you can get floppies to sing. That driving bass in there is awesome!
"I got balls of steel"
"Time to kick ass and chew bubble gum......"
"...and I'm all outta gum."
"...and I'm all out of ass"
Brandon Alexander no shit, after Dnf came
"Fucking Dick Kickem!?"
Pure art
Wow. It's actually sounds a lot like the DOS version back in the day.
Let's kick ass and format drives. I'm all out of drives
=D
Thanks for watching and letting people know for me
OPL2 was pretty close to this
This is the best floppy song Ive heard. This theme goes so perfectly well with the sounds of the drives.
Wtf that actually sounds so good lol
I have bits of steel.
"Damn, I'm looking good."
Manolo Ramos Fernández its, "damn im good"
ua-cam.com/video/m6DfueRss6E/v-deo.html ;)
Manolo Ramos Fernández sorry
lol
This is the reality of “ he’s propbably cheating on me “
This was better than Duke Nukem Forever.
Holy crap I had Duke Nukem 3D on 9 diskettes back in the days. This is so epic!!
Through the Fire and the Flames-ON 32 FLOPPY DRIVES! O.o
proof or gtfo
Tis is a great setup ya got here. AWESOME!
You should try Music Sounds Better with You by Stardust

Amazing! makes me want to play it again, great work.
How the fuck is that done?
That's awesome! This is just about the perfect song for this particular orchestra. Sounds almost like it did in the original game.
Sounds awesome! Like they originally did the theme with floppy drives! :D
Excuse the language but this is fucking absolutely beautiful
It sounds like a really old sound card. Like it wasn't that different in quality originally. Brilliant vid.
I like, as a very old (60) but active gamer, this song. This was the first game we played on a network.
Thanks!
I love the quick high part you do around ~26 seconds and throughout.
I must say, this is probably the best of yours that I've heard thus far.
What the fuck! This may be the greatest thing on youtube. Along with the game of thrones theme. I don't know how you did it, but I'm glad you did.
This is Brilliant.
Ok, wow..
I didn't think you would be able to beat the tetris theme (as far as sounding exactly right), but thir is amazing.
Keep it coming
Now this sounds like it came out of my old machine! :) Sounds like my (Sound Blaster?) sound card!
Wow, that's one of the best floppy musics I've heard. The...er...instruments really suit this tune well.
Im so glad that I subscribed to this channel.
You've really outdone yourself here. This sounds better than any modern soundfont rubbish, maybe even better than the original.
This is so cool man ! Congratulations it sounds great !
As a life long fan of Duke Nukem, This was amazing on a nostalgic level! As for the floppy drives, how do you set them up to play the songs like that?
Edit: Nvm, saw the FAQ in video info.
I feel like the original recording for the theme song was done with floppy drives, lol.
the original recording was just midi sequences... basically its just a MIDI file
Chuck Bucy Haha.. EXACTLY what i thought when i heard this.. I was like.. Hmm did they actually use those sounds ? Cause it might as well almost have been the original music..
(S-F)Mr. Frog Not just any midi, sir. A special version called emidi.
This is amazing. I'd love it if you could do a track from a Metroid game on floppy drives
Lol, you have plenty of ways of knowing how.

only the duke could make floppy drives sound kickass. XD
Sure yes!! Amazing!
Smitty Werben Jaggerman Jensen MY SIDES

*Boots up Sonic Adventure and plays as Big the cat*

The sound is perfect lol
Another gem of a video.
And I have floppies of plastic.
The bass lines are soooo good!
I know many people have said this already..but...WOW..these are cool. Still have tons of floppy disks, drives and all sorts but i don't think i'll be doing this any time soon

friggin amazing!
You sir, deserve a medal
This sound like an MIDI on a OPL Chip

Damn, that was awesome! You just got a 1up right away!
Your disk, your cd, what's the difference
Great as always
this is awesome floppy drives doing music , there should be some kind of tutorial on how it's done
I can't believe how they could make all those intricate sounds!
This is so Epic i cant even describe how much of Epicness it is !
Greate. Because great without an additional e just isnt enough to describe the awesomeness.
It Amazing how you get floppy Discs to work like that.....🤣🤣🤣
O my god this is so fucking beautiful
Oooooooh, loved the whole thing, but especially 0:26-30!
Can't wait for this to get recomended to everyone
"It's time to kick ass and chew bubblegum! and I'm all out of gum!" ....lol... nice job.
future musical instrument
The funniest thing is this is exactly how it really sounded when i played the game back in the 90's
Terrific! Awesome! Sounds like the original, at least on a soundblaster 16
It's awesome stuff, dude!! Come get some!
you should cover a glitch mob song... oh wait
Somehow floppies (as musical instruments) are exceptionally fitting to this theme.
Esta mierda me emociona y me hace llorar a la vez
THIS IS AWENSOME DUDE YOU GOD YOU MAKE THIS LOOK REALY COOL GREETINGS FROM LITHAUNIA
This is the most deranged and yet most awesome thing I have seen all year. rofl
