Hyundai Excel Series, Mount Panorama Bathurst - April 1, 2018

Since its formation just three years ago, the Hyundai Excel Series X3 one make series has fast become a popular state-level entry level category that is reminiscent of previous and current one-make formulae. Utilising the Series X3 variant of the Hyundai Excel sold between 1994 and 2000 and set to a controlled set of rules, the class now has over 300 registered competitors across Australia. And for the first time, a capacity field of 55 cars do battle at Mount Panorama, as part of the festivities at the hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour.

I wouldnt call them sick🤣
the engine, driveline and main components that enable the car to move are reliable (thanks mitsubishi) but that is the beginning and end of the "pros" list. (Although arguably the most important thing).
ultimately they are a povbox, paint goes on them and they rust, the doorhandles like to get brittle and snap, they rattle, bad NVH, factory exhausts have a tendency to get rust holes or just fall off like my mums did, as have most of the ones that get around my town by the sound of it 🤣
But they just keep going, and theyre dirt cheap so theyre are plenty for sale and plenty that are repairable write offs being parted out.
thats why they make good first cars for P platers, and good race cars apparently 🤣
