Devikah Between 10 - 12 hours every week is all I can get in. If I had it my way I would be on them all day every day. Think I chose the wrong career 😂 wish I discovered drums sooner.
Whoa! I think that I would want to give up drumming if I practiced that much a day. Yikes! You gotta have fun when you're practicing. You learn quicker when fun is involved. I'd have a tough time having fun if I practiced that much. Just sayin' what's true for me. Hope it works out for you. ^_^

Because I believe that the best songs for me to drum are the songs that I listen to all the time, they come from my Spotify list. Which is as varied a list as you'll ever see. Before I can drum to a song, I have to know it note by note and word by word. They are usually the songs on my Spotify list, because I listen to them all the time. Thanks, Renaldo. ^_^

Thanks, Benjamin. I'd have to say by ear with the help of technology. The ability to dissect a song, via technology, makes it a lot easier for my ears to learn. ^_^
Devikah what kind of technology do you use? Do you mean... Software like Guitar Pro and such? It would be really helpful to me to know it (: awesome cover by the way, I've discovered a lot of great music thanks to you.

Devikah thanks for your quick response! So, when you said that you dissect the songs with some technology so your ears can learn, you meant that you use Sony Vegas to do it?
Easy songs don't require any technical help. Only the songs that have parts that I can't clearly decipher by ear receive tech help. Usually in the form of slowing it down to a tempo where I can identify the individual strikes. I use Sony Vegas Pro for that, as well as the final rendering of the video. ^_^

I'm the last person you want to ask that to. Why? Because my simple rule is: try all the grips to see which one gives you the most comfort and control. The grip that gives you the most comfort and control is the right one for you. To adopt a grip just because someone tells you to is not where I'm at. But then again, I'm a drummer and not an educator. I'm happy with that. ^_^
yeah there's a lot of people wo just dont learn how to hold sticks, josh steffen is a good example and he's an amazing drummer
look for german grip technique on youtube and moeller technique, you have to do it right and slow first, and work your way up, there´s no other way around that.

Yes to Dennis Chambers. He is a phenomenal drummer. So smooth. But I can't commit to a particular album. I have to listen to an array of his songs and find one that says, "play me." Thanks for the pointer. ^_^

I mentioned that album 'cause it was when started to like to adore drums. But at that time I already was playing the guitar so I didn't wanted to change instruments. Somebody told me about Greg Howe and I found that album. But oh man... The Album starts with Chambers. And I was just like: Geez who is this God? And God he has lots... And I mean lots of songs to hear. :)

+Devikah no problem lol; don't have another camera hmm (for bass pedal; Side Note: I actually tried to do this song and I wanted to hear it from someone like you :) but I couldn't really figure out when to hit the bass lol)? Too bad I'm not in your area 'cause I could've gotten you a camera :P keep up the great drumming! :)
When I help out a band via performance or recording, I always use individual mics. But when I do my own drum covers, I prefer to use two overhead condensers. They pick up the sound of the entire set, without manipulating the sound of individual components. Just a preference, like I said. ^_^
+Devikah fair enough :) hope school is going well for you (at least I think you are in school lol); I understand that it does take up a lot of time; hopefully you can get out of it and start grinding out more videos :P can't wait to see the next one in about....idk when lol
