That's super cool! It's crazy that when I think about a company supplying bikes world wide I have this humongous facility in mind with tons of people. In the real world there's really a handful of people putting them all together, going on lunch rides, and having beers on Fridays at 3pm. That's awesome. So cool you got to do that. I'm looking forward to getting a chance to do that for sure! Thanks for sharing.

Specialized is made in Taiwan. Thing is it's all a massive money grab. pedal bikes should not cost what moto bikes do lol. I mean Five thousand to Nine thousand dollars for a freaking pedal bike??? Can you tell me why or what about a Lyrik or Pike cost a grand? Most of this stuff is overpriced but they market, make it nice and shiny and with new geo's people pay...If you could start a business selling popsicle stick houses for $450 would you? So they have something more real so we can't really fault them, fault the consumers for paying. Hell I did 4k for a Specy Enduro Elite.

many of the products that are pricy have design flaws, Rockshox, for example, have tokens which come loose and rattle, unless you superglue them, and this is not a precise adjustment.
but there are aftermarket upgrades and components, MRP ramp control is an example.
many of the top range components, for example, Shimano xt & xtr use soft bolts, they have for several years at least.
      flawed drivetrains
      flawed forks
flawed frames - which my 2014 trek fuel ex 7 29er is a perfect example of, bb area flex from the downtube along with hte chainstay, seat tube, which result in cracked rocker link, extended & bent chainstay, so bearings come loose, flawed design linkage design( single jointed pivot with bolt through the bearing to seat stay, so bearing is pushed out)
I got replacement chainstay & rocker link, But I am sure it will happen agian, the constant side to side flexing causing fatigue in just matter of few months of use(a year or so).
My next bike will not be a Trek, I am not sure which bike it will be yet, have been researching for months.
it's important to use all the right parts, strong bolts, forks have to be easy to adjust and don't cause annoying issues.
there are some great use of technology and great designs, but many of the brands don't do it all the way, something just has to be wrong or extra difficult, I wish they stopped doing that.
ôhlins has been interesting to me, because they do the opposite, user-friendly, and eliminate the silly tokens/volume reducers.

Weird how they are made in Vietnam, this has to be why the quality isn't as high as other main line brands.

    • @mtbboy1993

where something is made has not as much to do with it, the people making it do, the skill or lack of or just not doing a proper job, if everything is done properly there will be a proper result.
no matter where a factory is there can be stupidity and lack or training lack of quality control and people watching over that everything is done properly, and quality control for example scan of each carbon component for voids.
I have 2 2014 Fuel ex 7 29er bikes, one had overtightened bolts to an extreme torque on the 10nm bolts on evolink.
well engineered frames is also crucial, I have seen many cracked frames from several brands, so frames are too flexible, both carbon & alloy.
The whole process has to be perfect all the way through the bright of a frame.

The bottom of a 2020 Yeti SB-140 I was going to buy read "Made in Vietnam." I won't spend $7,000 on a bike made in Vietnam. I'd much rather buy my new ride "Made in The USA."
