I test drove one a couple years ago. Very cool. You're so low to the road, you can reach out and drag your hand. First gear is burnout gear. Starting in second, I even had to try to not spin the back tire. Lots of fun. Everyone stares at you, and some people stop to ask you what it is. It's definitely not a performance vehicle, just a very fun driver's vehicle. It delivers a completely unique, unforgettable experience. My wife wants one really badly, so one will likely be in our future.
I feel like people are half/half about these. It took me time but I've grown to love the look and for those hating on this, get behind the wheel. This thing is definitely a toy in my opinion and so fun to drive.
If I ever get too old to ride I definitely am going to get one of these! They look incredibly fun for two wheel challenge people. Great video you just keep getting better and better at these
Bad ass man!!! lot of broke as people on here hating on the price it starts at 20,000 can’t afford it it’s ok up your game but stop hating on people that can enjoy it 😂😂👍🏻
Friend of mine has one a few model years old with the GM engine. It's fun, he likes it, turn off the traction control and it will light up that rear wheel petty easily and whipping the rear around under power is a good time. But I'll stick to my two wheels.
100% agree, for that money I'd rather buy a Miata or BRZ. Avoiding potholes on a vehicle with three different planes of wheel placement must be a fun challenge though.
I used to have a 1999 Miata. Car handled so good. I took it autocrossing a few times. I was never good, but I found that my Miata had a wicked over-steer on throttle lift off. Like I said...I was never any good at autocross. That slingshot might be fun on a course. I doubt it would ever be competitive.
Seen one last week had a Chevy engine in it... roll cage and canopy helps in long range wet dry conditions nice... the local guy said he traded a new Harley for it....... 29 mpg.... I would have thought way better fuel consumption ?
No way would I get one of these. Just buy a convertible and you have a top when you need it and you don't have to wear a helmet. That screen is so bright at night it is distracting. That transmission shifts slower than a seven year itch. 26 thousand would buy a lot more motorcycle.
$26k would get a you a nice, late-model Miata, with enough $$$ left over for lots of aftermarket track-day mods. AND, you'd get more respect driving a modded Miata than that stupid 'snow-mobile with three tires'. :)
Why are so many saying that? They didn't race, well maybe the white car did. You get that a lot on motorcycles as well. People use extra acceleration to 'beat' you. This guy wasn't trying.
@@stevek8829 The revs on the Polaris kinda says Waheed was getting on it. He was in the upper half of the rev range, at least. The honda family car DECIMATED the polaris.

It's cool, but I am not sure I would drive it on the street sitting that low with very few safety features. Might be fun on the track or a private road, though.
But it’s fun to drive around. People do look as you drive by.. and my keep has sub woofers stock strong bass. My Cadillac v has a sub woofer. Deep bass stock.. and they sound great.. you probably just don’t like deep base. And that’s cool..
5:40 that must be when it comes to the US market. In Europe it's mostly manual transmission. It's starting to change as the automatic get better and we have dual clutch but i would think that if we go back 10 years the number is pretty much the opposite of what he mentioned here.
Is that still true? I don't know. With the efficiency of the new automatics where they rival the manual transmissions in mpg or should I say L/K, I wonder if the automatic has become more popular. Any comments from our Euro associates?
@@MK-hb3xc Here in Denmark it is certainly still the case that there are more manual transmissions in new cars. But not by that much anymore. As you say, they are really close to manual in KM/L now and they are cheaper and they work better. Plus now we get a lot of electric cars. Who knows, it might be close to 50/50 now but still far from the 98/2 as he says.
This would have been news for 5 minutes 5 years ago. The Slingshot under-performs and barely sells. The most they could hope for is to be in a weekend rental fleet in a tourist-oriented city.

I’ve been riding motorcycles since the mid 60’s and on the road since 1972 and I always cringed at the idea of anything with 3 wheels. Unfortunately my legs aren’t what they were, so now I have to compromise. Now the only challenge will be getting a 6’6” fat man in one.
I rented one of these things to drive around Newport for a couple of hours and it was fun, but I can't see owning one, especially not for what they cost. You feel like you're going a million miles an hour because your head is about 18 inches off the ground but trust me you are not. I try to keep in mind when I see any 3 wheeler on the road that whoever is in it might have mobility issues that are keeping them off bikes and so I suppress the urge to mock, and I definitely never call them gas powered mobility scooters because that would be cruel.
Do motorcycles have crash test ratings? Why would you worry about crashing in a slingshot but not on a motorcycle. If you are worried about crashing so much why do wheelies and burnouts🤷♂️? All I got from this is if you want a slingshot you would be better off getting a convertible or a motorcycle. That’s all you had to say. It didn’t need to take 24 mins🙄
Honestly I'm buying one because I've had sport bikes all of my life and multiple convertibles. like my R1 and E46 M3. That's not what I want right now. I want something to cruse around with my wife. Riding a sport bike with a passenger sucks the life out of you. Its like having training wheels. Well unless you don't like the person on the back. With the slingshot that's not the case you can have fun with someone else in the machine.
So...it's obviously a poor substitute for a motorcycle, but with the right mindset, I think it's pretty cool. Would be fun in twisty slower mountain roads etc.

Polaris Slingshot or the Yamaha FJR AS (AutoShift)
