The first early seasons were the best. Everything else afterwards isn’t nearly as funny.

@@g0tst1ngsback in earlier episodes, it was more based on people not knowing the show. guests would show up and expect it to be like any other talk show, and they would slowly figure out it was a joke show. word of mouth spread, and i figured that would be the end. it was not

I think Eric knew what made him feel uncomfortable. So assuming liquids and contact makes him feel uncomfortable. They design these interviews to bring them out of their comfort zone.

Donald Glover, a man who wrote bits, knows this is a bit. But even though he knows it's a bit, he can't help but recoil from the sheer absurdity.
Usually people don’t spray water on you or touch you for bits , it’s a easy way out.
Eric takes people that are used to being socially awkward and makes them *physically* awkward; you can harden up all you want for some social unrest but when you're sat center and treated like "The Clown" it can be really hard to find a natural way of reacting. That's what Eric banks off of; everyone is called a clown but he makes you *feel it.*

This was made all the better because Donald is quick enough to follow Eric’s insanity and respond accordingly, rather than simply check out. When Eric said “free Putin” Donald immediately said “he’s not in jail” and then later tried to make a point about Putin not being black. This type of following along is something guests are rarely able to do.

I thought the recent Eric Andre skits were not hitting the mark as they usually do, but this one was classic. The fact that he managed to make Donald - a man who has had his fair share of crazy experiences - feel uncomfortable is quite the feat.

Recently saw a meme about the oldschool Spider-Man villain “The Wall” and Andre would be perfect for it as Glover is already The Prowler.
Glovers character could be like carrying a chicken strip basket with ranch and get bumped into the wall and spill his ranch on the wall and the wall would go “MmMmMmMm” and awaken vigorously like the Kool-Aid man and an old lady across the street could have a heart attack or something idk just throwing darts at the wall.
Donald's "what??" at 3:05 is so genuine
3:08 “HEY! HEY! I’m gonna get some blow today” Also that’s the only time I’ve ever seen Eric actually crack up and break “character” for just a fraction of a second in frame. Well except for the infamous quest appearance of a live grizzly bear, which is understandable.
Funny, because I was watching Donald and you can see him begin to sing along and smile too. He played it straight so well and this little bit is fun because it lets you know he's in on it.
