Hate when "fans" bitch when a band has a shift in style or sound, but at the same time bitch about the bands who keep a steady sound throughout shorter careers. Changing is what keeps bands and their music fresh and their careers thriving, but these so called "fans" can't adapt. It's sadness on behalf of the fanbase. People grow and mature all throughout life, it's just part of life. Unfortunately, too many dumbass "fans" can't respect it when musicians do.
Disturbed is one of those rare bands that keep the same sound and still sound awesome decades later.

Yeah man. The band actually formed in 1996 i believe and then The Sickness came out in 2000 and an easy way to remember that is Shout 2000. First official cover done by the band. I was born in 1991 and I found the band in 2005 when Ten Thousand Fists came out. I was into rap until I heard Stricken. Been a Disturbed one ever since. I'll never put another band over them. I am really hoping this album hits #1 on the Billboard 200 so this band can achieve 6 consecutive albums to hit #1. Only 3 bands in history have had 5. Dave Matthews Band, Metallica, and Disturbed. If Disturbed gets this one they will tie Metallica for 2nd.

@@itsshawn1265 He's had a tremendous amount of of vocal surgery in order to retain that signature texture that only he has been able to keep delivering well into his 40s, and holy fuck has it paid off. Look at the likes of Serj Tankian, M Shadows etc. Just a couple of examples of singers who have struggled to maintain that signature grit in their voices of early in their careers, now they have to struggle to get the effect, or switch to clean vocals entirely. David is an anomaly for sure.
We all love David's voice. But don't reduce the band on David. Without the other guys it wouldn't be the same. Without them it would not be the Disturbed we all love.🤘

Their song "the Light" , by God's grace, has helped me through my heart anomaly condition. Instead of cursing my congenital heart problem, the ever-strengthening lyrics guided me to embrace the darkness as a way to find God and willing to survive. God bless you all people.

You aren't alone, my friend. I found Disturbed when I was in middle school--around 15 years ago--and they have become the soundtrack of my life. Gave me the strength of will to fight through some of the hardest periods of my life when my mental health was slipping, and my emotional stability had completely shattered. I didn't know who my friends were, who I could trust after being used and hurt by so many people within a 5-year span, but these guys gave me a backbone and helped me harden myself against all the bullshit and all the fakes. I now embrace the darkness that has shaped my life, I'm ready to fight back, and I raise my fucking fist to salute the men who made it possible.
And to all my fellow Disturbed Ones... Let me see YOUR fists!

Disturbed is the band that got me into rock music. It was around 7th grade and it was the album Indestructible. Every time I hear any Disturbed song, it takes me back to those great days. This band will always have a special place in my heart.

As a die hard disturbed fan since 2009, having listen to every album so many times that i had to re-buy the cd because of the wear and tear. I fucking love this song. No matter what everyone thinks. This is fucking awesome, and it fills me with energy like every other disturbed song ever did. Now all I need to do is learn this song on the guitar and wait for Evolution. Already posted this on the band's facebook but felt the need to show my support here too. Some of the negative comments (moreso on the Disturbed facebook page than here) show how, especially for metal bands, it's often a damned-if-you-do and damned-if-you-don't scenario. Whether a band stays the same or changes their sound, they'll be criticized. Personally, I think this is dope! Has a more old school feel to it while keeping the Disturbed spark. Every album brings something new but retains what makes Disturbed such a prominent, successful, unique, and timeless metal band. Love the evolution guys, and excited for more! (Also absolutely digging the return of them tasty guitar solos, keep it up Dan!)
Completely agree, people bitched about Godsmack because "their songs all sound the same". Then you have them and disturbed coming out with a change in their sound and now people are bitching about that.
Lewis Saddington , they could’ve easily just made the song better by recording more versions of the “are you ready” chorus. It’s clearly just a copy and pasted job....

As a long-time Disturbed fan.....i can safely say, this was the shift we needed from them. If you listen to the albums from beginning to now, you can hear the progression and importance of issues that surround us all. David is so in-tune with the world, its problems, the solutions, the military, the poverty, and the government.....he's a lyrical genius, and he has shown it time after time on every album. "Fans" that can't love this album, or its songs, are not true fans, and havent seen the progression. They just like "Down with the Sickness", "Ten Thousand Fists", and "Indestructible". Granted, those are all great songs, but they are not ALL the band is capable of. On top of that, growing up with them (from a teen to a full-fledged 30-something), i was able to piece their albums together to tell a story, at least the first 3 or 4...omitting the "Believe" album. Each song on one album, melded and evolved to the next album. This is a natural progression for them, and if you can't see that, then maybe you're just not disturbed enough.
Ok I'm going to say this once DISTURBED is one of the most amazing bands in the world. They have never failed me and always have helped me through the hardest times in my life. And they have done it again THANK YOU DISTURBED

I could be 100% wrong but this song sounds real similar to their old songs. Idk i feel like this song is what you would get if you took "Sons of plunder" and mixed it with "inside the fire". That's what I sort of hear anyway.

I was thinking the exact same thing! To me, Immortalized had a very weird sound to it. I could hear David in the songs but it didn't sound like Disturbed. Maybe it was the producer, I don't know, but this song has the Disturbed sound that I found missing in Immortalized. Cannot wait for Evolution. I am ready.

Ok, I'm a huge Disturbed fan. My opinion of the song: not that heavy as I expected but quite catchy. Best part are verses, cool groove and guitars in the background and ending is more powerful but still think its too soft for the first single. I remember how metal and powerful were and still is The Vengeful One, with agressive parts and anthemic awesome chorus. This time chorus is quite meh, and there is no really main melody of the song. I hope other songs on Evolution are better

I need to tell you something, Disturbed fans. I've seen a lot of negative comments about this song, but why? This song is heavy, it really is. This exactly sounds like something from "Immortalized" and maybe better. I mean, I love Disturbed Nu-Metal era, but it's time to move on, like when you're growing to older, more experienced person, the bands are acting the same way. Nobody is faulting a band for growing. It's only natural that a band flexes their creative and artistic sides as they become more successful and have the means to do so. People are complaining that this band is no longer a Metal band. This is Pop masquerading as Metal, which isn't really a bad thing, but the people who have watched the band from the beginning (First seen at Ozzfest circa early 2000's, last seen at Ozzfest vs Knotfest) are seeing them move in a direction that some of us dislike.
The first time I didn't like their sound was on Prayer. The album went from a traditional production sound into a highly compressed modern sound that turned me off from the band for a few years strictly off the production quality alone. I couldn't listen to the music so I couldn't form an opinion on it. It was only a few years later at another show when I saw them live and thought "Hey that sounds way better live than how they recorded it, I'll give it a second chance". I subsequently bought up the remaining albums from their collection. In fact Disturbed are the first band I've ever bought every single studio album of so it's not as if I'm not a fan.
I fully expected this shift into the more modern pop-metal band sound since so many millennial fan complaints about bands that sound the same on new albums and the recent two shows I saw their sets for. Formulaic and weaker than previous shows I'd seen. The millenial demographic now controls what we all hear so don't be pissed off that some of us who went to Metal shows for Metal bands are disappointed when a really good Alt-Metal band becomes the next Ghost (pop band pretending to be metal).

This song remind me years 2001/2002 when I listened The Sickness five or six times a day. I was living in the street and used to go everywhere with a small radiocassete playing the tape next to my ear. David voice helped me to go through that hard times. Now my life is better, but Its nice to listen him again. We are alive. ❤

I always love how you can count on Disturbed to be Disturbed. When I pick up their Album .I know what I am getting. Disturbed. Some might say same old Shit. I say just the old shit I needed. When I here a new Disturbed song it feels like home, it feels right, and it feels like I can relate. Thanks Disturbed for your hard Work. I have made it through Hell and Back because of your songs. Don't get me wrong, this track is awesome. Sounds like a more polished Ten Thousand Days. But if someone was watching this in 2002 it would be unremarkable. I think that's what has slowly driven me away from mainstream metal

This song is good, but I prefer Disturbed when their mostly heavy. Hopefully they still remain heavy and add more elements of music. They should play around with other genres more too, but to a degree. I hope one day they take inspiration from death metal, thrash metal, and etc. I really wish disturbed can stay heavy, and still be unique and even more heavier.
