Despite meticulous care ( 3 vaccinations, masking, hand washing, constant disinfecting) I tested positive 6 days ago... I have some medical conditions and am 59 years old, so it is troubling... I took Paxlovid, but still have loss of stamina, fatigue, drenching sweats, a weird headache, scratchy throat and occasional cough. My oxygen was 96 two days ago, it is now 93. Also my sister had a massive stroke last year after having Covid - she has locked- in syndrome now.... This is no joke and needs to be treated seriously. Prayers sent to everyone who is positive, recovering, caring for affected loved ones, first line workers...
After 3 years of staying hopeful that I was safe of not getting it. I finally tested positive a few days ago. I'm vaccinated I mask and still got it. I do have mild symptoms but they are painful and so stressful 😫

Hope is a dangerous thing. People need to act together to be more socially responsible, with no lip services, no blaming, no finger-pointing and keep own personal hygiene.
Maybe we should spend more efforts tending to the health of animals other than just human animals. People have been eating all sorts of animals for longer than we have recorded history. The relatively new thing is eating animals that have been raised in unsanitary and abusive conditions, which makes it easier for them to get sick just like it's easier for humans to get sick in such conditions.

I really like the singapore gov for their transparency and the emphasis they place on informing their citizen accurately. YOU GUYS ROCK! I am worried to read in respected medical publications that the SARS vaccine research had showed a success in the creation of a vaccine but when injected in animal they had a virulent autoimmune response on re-infection which means we are FAR from a vaccine for sars .. and therefore it may take longer for the Novel COV 2 (Covid 19) too.. I really hope to see our governments in europe taking advantage of this small window of opportunity to inform people and prepare the health system if necessary!

Very true and a good catch on that secondary infection rate of death they said it was really horrific when they tried to do it with the vaccine and they just can't even do human trials at all as they can't guarantee that the person doesn't have an antibody hiding in there.
This raises the question there was mention in news releases just passing by you know students or people that live down in the center of Wuhan said oh yeah you know we heard about this Wuhan pneumonia and September and October it really wasn't killing anybody it just made you sick and that you got over it but it was kind of a joke of ohyeah be careful of the Wuhan pneumonia it can ruin your vacation plans then all of a sudden in December we started hearing about people dying and it was the same pneumonia but it was worse. So what makes me wonder is the people that are dying now in Wuhan could they be the secondary infection? They had it before in the fall it was a mild cold they didn't think anything of it especially the younger ones doctors excetera then they get it a second time this time they start to collapse they really go down hill, which is what they were seeing with the people who had secondary infection with SARS and the vaccine on animals.

@@milkybar06 well sadly we can now all agree we do not know that - without ambiguity or exaggeration. "real" figures is not the right word. Maybe "up to date" figures is more appropriate. World Health Organisation does release the official figures on a daily basis during their live press conference I suppose..

@@desmondpun1773 I don't doubt that what you say is true, however I think there are many other considerations required in the mix (eg- geographical- such as population densities, etc) to really determine how susceptible different groups of people are to COVID.
It's a mess, and I think that SO many governments around the world (particularly wealthy, Western nations) really dropped the ball by not having strong, effective pandemic planning before CV appeared.
Scientists and epidemiologists had been warning for decades that something like this could happen. Anyway, here we are, two years in.
I can't help but feel a little underwhelmed by the people who are allegedly responsible for our general health and safety.
They have got to crack down on those wildlife markets!! It's a big problem in Japan also.
I don't know what you're talking about but Japan doesn't have a wild life market. I'm an expat in Tokyo and I've never seen any such markets here aside from the fish markets. The only weird thing I've seen is the snake sake from Okinawa. Don't drag a country down based on false information.
The Japanese are very meticulous on hygiene. They are strict on the quality of food (we're talking about a country who massages, give beers to their cows, do regular check ups on the animals. I can't even name one country who does that). That strict quality is even shown in their healthcare system. When Japan first got their first case of Covid-19 (a Chinese tourist), the hospitals were suddenly flooded with Japanese, fearing they might have caught it. This also lead to a growing demand of masks and disinfectants as they sold out within days.
The reasons why Japan have many infected are based on: 1) China is the neighbouring country and every Lunar New Year, we see a huge influx of Chinese tourists, 2) the way how the Japanese government handled the Diamond Princess-incident, 3) most of the infected are the passengers from that cruise, and 4) Japanese, who caught it on flights on their way back, if not during their vacations.
Even if wild life markets are the faults of the Chinese, you should be more angry with their government. They were the ones who hid the truth, hindering doctors and nurses from doing their jobs, when they first saw the signs and tried to warn everyone. Politics got in the way and that cost the scientists time to figure out how it first started and developed. Those were precious weeks that could have been used to quickly contain the disease and alert the whole world.
This is practically Tjernobyl 2.0, just different government and with a disease instead.
why are you bringing japan into the issue of wildlife markets? they don't have an issue with filthy germ filled wild life markets as shown here, and i've never heard ANYONE say they do. that's not japanese style at all, they're very meticulous orderly people. i doubt you could see tons of old feces filled stinky cages and strange animals stuck in a small market anywhere in japan. fish markets are found in any island country or indeed anywhere with a coastline, so that's obviously not special and NOT the same thing as a "exotic wildlife" market selling pangolins and civets and other weird things.
Sorry if I've offended but I've seen several videos and documentaries about illegal wildlife being sold as pets in Japan. It's mostly heartbreaking because people buy the animals because they are cute but they have no idea how to take care of them. I'm not saying they eat them. And disease is spread from being in close contact with live animals that carry disease, not necessarily from eating them. If a market is illegal than it means the animals are not being regulated so you don't know if they may carry diseases.

I'm not trying to say anything negative about the Japanese or Chinese people. We have our own issues in the US....like fur farms which are somehow legal and just heartbreaking! 😥
@@chewyjello1 This is a completely different case compared to the Covid-19. Although, it is something I will agree on. If there's something I don't like with Japan, it's those animal cafes like otters, owls, penguins and meerkats. I know that they are well-taken care of, but I just don't agree on having them as pets or even build cafes with them. And they are the closest I've seen to exotic animals. But I've never seen any wet markets here like in the rest of Asia. The Tsukiji market (fish market) is even closed and has been for two years or so, because they're trying to find a location that is better regulated. This doesn't happen in China or other countries in Asia.
These are stressful times right now, so I fully understand your reaction. Trust me, I was so mad at the Chinese for bringing it with them, because they spit everywhere, sneeze and cough openly. But pointing fingers won't help at all and right now the biggest dangers are stupidity and paranoia.
I was paranoid myself these last couple of days, not wanting to go out, disinfecting the doors, avoiding close contacts. My conversations with friends and colleagues always lead to the virus and fear of lockdown or curfews. One friend fled from Tokyo to a small town, another mentioned the possibility of him dying since he has respiratory problems. Then the stress of hearing that it hit back home in Europe.
But to be really honest, Japan is still safe and life goes on here. I'm just waiting for the change of seasons, when it gets warmer.

Everyone are well informed and all protection measures are in placed. Little ‘hiccups’ but no panic. It’s more dangerous to go to countries that claim little or no virus when one expect otherwise. There might be thousands of affected people walking around. Singapore 🇸🇬 on the other hand did very well to contain the ‘imported’ virus and that’s the reason it shows the higher figures. nigel rose Wuhan got 12 million people, slightly more than twice the population of Singapore where I live. Locking down is a very good idea, but virus are quite invisible and one never really knowns where the ‘winds’ blow.
I'm on the Central Coast of California watching medical staff here in denial that there may be contagion in the local population. Cases in China doubled in 6 days. That's how long they're waiting here to have a meeting about the coronavirus. China reacted from a dead start; without knowing what was happening. I think China is awesome. This virus started well before December 19 . There were a lot of people in my country who had the same symptoms as me. I had a continuous cough with a high temperature of 39.8 my had it the same time as me same symptoms as me. I knew a lot of friends who had the same symptoms as me as well.
