If you’re a fan of FLCL a good recommendation I would give is a show called Kyousougiga! It’s based in Japanese mythology with really incredible animation
"Haruki becomes an adult - she worries." The vagueness of that is kind of haunting for a character as chaotic as Haruko, of course that could be because it was a scrapped idea, but that could have had a lot of punch to it, I still like what they did with Haruko a lot in the final product.
Yeah, especially since it is literally the only thing written in the preplanning for episode #6 it came across super haunting to me. I'm very happy with the final version though, it's one of my GOAT.

It's interesting to consider that Canti could be an allegory for Naota's expectations for his future. Canti is nearly the same color as Naota's jacket, he works for the bakery and runs errands for members of the house. Canti came from Naota's head, making him akin to being Naota's ideals of an adult, diligent, proper, and capable of great things. Which could make their combination another allegory for achieving your dreams. Canti is the dream, and Naota is the one who can make it a reality for himself. When he births from Canti with Atomsk's power, it kind of relates to Naota realizing he can do anything even if he isn't his ideal self. And comes out of it to face his fears on his own. Which, much to any shy boys development, is having the courage to tell a girl that he likes her.
That is very much still valid that this show is a "let's put this in for coolness sake" scenario, the difference with this show compared to, say, Kill La Kill, is that the randomness still has something meaningful to say, even if it's basic as all hell.
@@saoz3 eh, I kind of disagree, I feel like KLK by the end/post Episode 12/13 kind of shrugs off whatever it had to say for just a dose of rule of cool (which is fine, I guess)
"I'll have your kid, you know." Geez, that sounds pretty unsettling. Given how Mamimi acts, it seems like she was becoming more and more unhinged as she kept using Naota more as a replacement for Tasuku. The series seems to imply with her line of overflowing that she was intimate with Tasuku and that beta version line indicates she was thinking about, if not planning to do something similar to Naota, his choices be damned. And it seems likely he may or may not know how babies are actually made. Alternatively, though this doesn't seem as likely, that line may indicate that Mamimi really did cross such a line with Naota and was with child, likely to make sure he wouldn't leave like Tasuku did and that Naota simply thinks that she's joking.
I would’ve loved to have seen more Canti character development! and I absolutely love his earlier designs although maybe I can see why they don’t fit so well with the overall style of FLCL
I get anxious sometimes when i'm over-describing stuff when i write a story but looking here at the ground work laid out for FLCL is reassuring, seeing how much thought is put into the show and ideas, no matter how bizarre.
