She was here before these were popular 😂
Mieke Hock she’s physic duh
These are called cauri/kori/cowrie bracelets and they're a west African tradition.
@@__________..... They're a tradition of anywhere that has a shore and beaches
These necklaces were popular in the 90's
I just wanna be a VSCO girl
vsco is an app.
Danicka it’s considered vsco inspired
I don’t wanna be Vsco it’s kinda seems superficial. In my opinion. You be what you wanna be
Danicka exactly
Whatever😐😒
*for everyone who wants to make this but their shells aren’t open in the back*
take a push pin and put it through the front of the shell so it’s touching the back from the inside. take a hammer and and hammer it softly until you hear it go through. stick the pin in the whole from the backside and pry out pieces of the shell in the back. most of the time, perfect circle/oval pieces came off. i made a choker and anklet like this! hope this helps
Kendal Brianna thank u so much girl i’ve been trying to find a way to get the backs off😂💞
Kendal Brianna i am confused
This is the best tutorial I've ever seen.
Your choker turned out so good. I always fail at putting the cowries on but keen to try your way. Thankyou for sharing!
Best tutorial
I saw lots of tutorial and don't mention the materials
Thank you so much this was very very helpful and easy!
This is a much easier way to learn, thank you
who else is searching for VSCO diys bc they’re too broke to actually buy anything?
just me?
Abby Littrell yep just you
vsco is an app :)
yes ik that.. i actually use vsco on a daily basis but there’s a vsco girl trend going around but to actually buy the shell necklaces, hydroflasks, scrunchies, etc. is incredibly expensive and i’m broke so i’m just searching through yt to find diys so i don’t have to buy them 😂
Danicka I’m pretty sure we all know that :)
Ruby Anderson nope not just her, me and other people
Thanks for sharing this technique!! Definitely going to give this a try!!
THANKS FOR SHARING SIMPLE AND EASY LOVE IT JENNY FROM THE ISLAND GUAM USA
If you listen closely you can hear the “sksks” and the “and I oop-“‘s
Edit: another thing .. I used to be afraid of those shells when I was younger for some apparent reason XD
Trend setter lmao I see every single girl with these on
puka shell necklaces or cowrie shells were popular for a long time. surfer culture or people who enjoy nature and ocean. people who live in warm places near the ocean always wore those. my brother lives in kauai-hi and there everybody wears puke shell necklaces and similar jewelry. was a trend in the nineties and now again thanks to vsco girls who want to protect nature
No it was island culture & native & African
I love this video Thank tou so much!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This was super helpful! Thanks
Thank you I made my first shell necklace with your help.
This looks so easy
How do I keep the shells from going different directions
Tumbling. Tutorials you should place the beads very tightly so the shells don't move

I'm watching this, because for Homecoming in my school, it's VSCO day..
blxssededits wait do you got to dca because I go to dca and we have vsco day to
Do you have to use the same piece of cord for all the shells? Or does it work with either piece of cord
Very beautiful
Is it an elastic rope? Btw this is awesome all my friends want one now!
Also what beads did you buy
You did these so good and there perfect! I wish I had a cowrie necklace but I'm broke so I can't buy the supplies😭. I wish somebody could buy me some or make them for me. But you did great and its cute!!
this is a very helpful tutorial but im not sure what type of string, does anyone know the name?
😊
What kind of cord is this?
What size beads should I get so that both chords are able to fit through properly?
Where can I find the black cord? I’ve tried amazon but I’m not coming up with anything.
Thanks for the video! I really liked it. It would have helped if you were more specific on the supplies I think. 😄💗
Glad you liked it! Let me know if I can help you with anything regarding the supplies.☺️💕
Emily Sara what type of string did u use?
it’s totally fine if you don’t know but, do you know where i can buy the little chain to add extra length? or what it is called? again it’s is ok if you don’t know the name😂also thank you for sharing! this helped me so much!:))🤩💗
Hi, it’s called a chain extender and I had it lying around at home. You can however probably find it at any craft store in the jewelry section. Hope this helps! :)
check panduro hobby online! they have literally everything
Hi great tutorial! Where did you get the chain to connect each sides?
Hi! I got mine at a craft store a long time ago, but I’m pretty sure you can find them at any craft store at the jewelry section.
Emily Sara thank you sm. Again amazing tutorial. Straight to the point
How can I get some to buy
What size beads are those? 4mm beads? 6mm? 8mm?
How much would the be selling for?
How long did it take your shells to come, I just ordered mine from wish today.
Hi, that’s great to hear! Anything you order from wish usually takes a while. I bought mine two years ago so I don’t really remember anymore. I do remember though that some products only took a week to get here and others 3 weeks. I think it depends on the product and where you live. Hope that helps a bit🙂
Hi, what kind of black cord did u use in this video? Thanks
Hi, I used black waxed cotton cord.
Show more tutorials on conch
What size are the beads?
How big are the beads?
what is the thing called that you used at the end that changes the size of the necklace? sorry bad at explaining lol
It’s called a chain extender.
Did you use .5mm or 1mm cord?
I used a 1mm cord.
I’m going to the store and buying shells and beads and cord
heyy can you post the links to the items you bought on wish/other for this necklace?
Hi, I don’t have links for most of the items since I already had them lying around at home. The only thing I purchased were the shells: www.wish.com/product/5b2390ceb11a910f85608bd4
i commented on someone’s comment with the same question with all the links 🙃🙃
umm what if i don't have chains?great video btw :D
okay so i figured out if you dont have that BIG hole in the back just take a nail in the small hole and push up and usually the back will pop up and make that big hole that makes it good like now i made it and its suppa cute
where did you get the jump rings, the clasp, etc from?
I just had them lying around somewhere in the house, but I’m sure you can get them at any craft store.☺️
This is the OG video
Where are the beads from?
I just had them lying around the house, but I’m pretty sure you can find them at any craft store.
what are the sizes of the clips, jumperings and clasp???
how long is the chain ?
How long did it take for the shells to arrive?
About 3-4 weeks
What kind of black cord?
It’s black waxed cotton cord!

lmk if i missed some lol
What black chord did you use
I used 1mm black waxed cotton cord and the beads I used, I had lying around the house. The beads are 0.5mm brown wooden beads.
0.5 mm hole?
Sorry I meant 0,5cm beads
*vsco girls have entered the chat*
what does the clasp do? do i need it?
It’s to attach one side to the other. You don’t need it if you just leave some extra cord on both sides. That way you can just tie it around your neck instead of using the clasp.
Emily Sara thank u so much!!!!!
where did you get all your materials from?
Hi! I had almost all of the materials lying around at home, so I don’t remember, but I’m sure you can find them in any craft store. The shells I got from Wish. Hope this helps😊
Can I just tie it with a Knot instead of using the clasp and crimps and all that stuff??
Yes!
Thank you!!! By the way, the tutorial was really well made, I can't wait to make this....and I have a suggestion... Could you do a beads necklace tutorial?? Only if you want and can, of course😊❤️
.
Glad you liked it and of course! What kind of beaded necklace are you talking about? X
@@emilysara9147 if you search in UA-cam aesthetic or beach necklaces, you will find this one's, that are beaded necklaces, made of small and colored beads. They are a bunch of tutorials, but I think that you could make a really cool one!!
what size is the cord
It’s 1mm!
She was early to the trend 😂
how many mm were the cowries?
Mine are about 2cm long.
How long did the shells take to come? I want to order some but I’m afraid it will take to long.
I took mine 4hours most of the factory’s and in the middle of like every city! I is so convenient I order from them all the time!
The shells from wish took a couple of weeks to get here, so if you want them quickly I recommend getting them from somewhere else.
Emily Sara thanks!
Molly and the Cute puppies really? Where do you live that wish comes so fast 😂
does anyone know where to get the shells??
any shell shop will have them or you can look online
Hi, what type of black cord did you use in this video?
I used black waxed cotton cord.
