Acquiring stocks could appear simple, but choosing the right stock without a tested plan can be very difficult. My main barrier to growing my $210K portfolio, which I've been working on for a while, is the absence of well-defined entry and exit plans. Any guidance on this would be highly valued.

The truth is, the role of an investment advisor can often be overlooked but should never be underestimated. After facing a significant portfolio loss in 2020 during the COVID pandemic while trying to manage my investments on my own, I decided to reach out to an investment advisor. At that time, I had about $126K left in my portfolio. Now, without having to lift a finger, I'm semi-retired, working only 7.5 hours a week, and I'm just 15% short of my $1 million retirement goal thanks to my subsequent investments.

If energy density goes up, that does not necessarily mean you need less lithium.
You just pack it denser. Only if you reduce the total battery size (eg by making the car more efficient during operations) while maintaining the same range would that lead to reduced lithium demand. In reality, vehicle ranges ( and battery sizes) are increading over tine, meaning a car uses more lithium than 10 years ago.

Deciding between SOFI and AMD depends on your investment goals and risk tolerance. AMD offers stability and growth in tech and AI, while SOFI presents higher-risk, high-reward potential in fintech. Seeking advice from a CFA would be a smart move at this point.

I sold LIT at $48 but kept ALB with the thought that they got funding from the DOD and will have an advantage in the LIT ETF. I also didn't think that the lithium price would be below $15k per metric ton for this long like it has most of this year, especially this close to $10k.

Sven, I think you are misinterpreting the point of technological innovation. Every technological innovation that increases the energy density of lithium batteries means they found a way to replace materials, that do not contribute to the energy capacity, with more lithium. It is even written in the bottom section of the slide about the battery prices. This means that every innovation increases the lithium demand by increasing the amount of lithium per battery stack (-per given volume or mass). Additionally, the demand is getting higher since the technology is becoming more useful.

There was a temporary peak bc Lithium supply was not ready for sudden demand.
But remember, it wasn't because lithium itself is rare, it was because it previously had little value, so there weren't many mines and refineries outside of China. Unlike gold, silver, copper, palladium, platinum, iron ore, coal, oil and many others, the global demand for lithium never warranted large scale exploration until recently. In the short term the increase in demand outstripped the ability to supply but as we’re finding out, lithium isn’t a rare earth metal, it’s pretty abundant and the human ingenuity to bring on supply at an affordable price to meet any demand in the next decade can easily be done without significant price increases. IMO there’s no meaningful investment opportunities for the average investor in the lithium mining sector. Traders may profit, but not long term investors.

if you look back to 200 when they (munger and buffetsaid to expect low single digit returns ) they have performed better than everything almost over time per anum !
    i avoided stocks after enron
    2006-8
and chose my own stocks eventually after 2015
