    IT WORKS!!! I made my own sleeve out of the materials you showed and tested it today!!! I went to the store and tapped to pay 3 times, but it did not go through. Then, I took my credit card out of the sleeve, retapped it and it processed immediately! Thank you for the helpful video!!!

    This is great! You can't always trust that a wallet advertised as RFID blocking is really able to do that. I had an RFID blocking wallet that worked, evidenced by holding the wallet that contained my work badge up to the locker room entry tag, which then did NOT allow me to open the door. That wallet wore out. I bought another wallet advertised as having RFID blocking, but when my badge was in this wallet, the sensor on the locker room door easily recognized it and granted me admission. I love this wallet, so THANK YOU! I can now make it an RFID blocking wallet.

      You can still be safe creditcard wise, usually access badges work on higher frequencies that some wallets won’t stop while still protecting your other cards.

    Can we all take a moment to breathe a sigh of relief that RFID theft never really became a widespread thing? Turns out it's much, much easier for thieves to write programs that can clone thousands of credit cards from online databases than it is for them to carry a handheld scanner around.

    I started using the foil idea about 15 or20 years ago when I unwrapped one of those little cameras that look like the old Kodak 110's and decided to save the little tin foil pouch it came wrapped in. It was a waterproof camera, not sure if that mattered or not. Then one day I was reading about people scanning your cards while you had no idea, say you were standing in line. Or, they can do it when they walk by you. Well, I save everything that even looks like it might be useful someday. the little tin pouch looked very useful to me so I saved it.For some reason people thought I was stupid! But I made a little wallet sized pouch that fits right in my regular wallet out of the foil pouch they used to cover the camera in before they put it in the outer foil pouch with all the printing, UPC seal, etc.and then I put the little pouch, with too many cards, which was one of the reasons my mom and everyone else thought I would be very sorry using tin foil and thinking I was doing such a good job that nobody told me to do?), - shows how much faith my mom and everyone else had in me! How could a WOMAN that didn't go to college come up with that idea??? Surely she is dreaming! I guess mom thought they would scan all my cards inside my wallet and me bankrupt me. Guess what? People don't look at me like I am stupid/crazy anymore! Guess what! I'm still using the same little pouch! I'm thinking I should make a new one. I bet I could find some pretty foil this time! Thanks for listening.

If it can block GPS on a phone, i would say its worth testing on an RFID NFC chip, with say a bus riding/subway transit card to see if it reads through on the reader.

    How to test if the wallet is skimmable? Phone's NFC or the usual Arduino shields are finicky to get to work at the best of conditions, for a reason, they aren't designed for abuse; skimmers probably use substantially more powerful RFID antennas, such as ones that are part of access control parking systems. I mean by all reason the shielding should work, but it's not convincing unless validated.

    Is it insanity that in the 80s when the banking industry learned of how this can be exploited - they stopped making this type of RFID card, and yet now we all have to deal with this bs again?

    Can you use plain aluminum foil?

    • @MakeItorBreakItNow
      @MakeItorBreakItNow  2 роки тому

      Go Home, I've tried it. You need several layers and the foil is brittle so then you need to give a backing of something like duct tape, and by the time you've done all that you might as well by the the aluminum tape.
