Elderly Man flame church. So pros and one of the things no one talks about is how many turns they stick around for as opposed to simply how many times you can summon them. This dude sticks around for 4 turns I believe before leaving, has one of the better skills in merciless blade AND he restores Agnea's hp and sp. Plus unlike a lot of other npcs listed, he's in a beginner town so recruiting him is way easier since flamechurch itself is easy to get to. Honestly cheesed through majority of the game with this guy.
I don't really have a particular reason, but I've always liked recruiting Yurinas in the Gladiator Coliseum. While I've technically only beaten Throne/Temenos/Agnea/Hikari's stories (doing the game as 2 parties of 4), but Yurinas has helped me out a bunch.
For early to mid game I like to recruit the Elegant Brothel Girl from New Delsta. She does pretty good damage. Plus she has an interesting story line that hints that she may be a princess, which is why she is pretty tough.
@@CoatTeeWait whattttttttttt That allows you to actually RETURN there?? I never knew that. That’s actually kinda cool. I just assumed it was always a one time area
This is amazing!! I'm so surprised there aren't more videos like this and I've been looking for one exactly like this for so long. Most NPC videos focus on just the Business Partner or Dance Session bonuses and not their viability in battle. I honestly wouldn't even mind a part 2 if you find any new ones along the way. I'm already seeing a couple good recommendations in the comments. I think NPC summons are one of the most underrated mechanics in the Octopath games.
Right outside of Wellgrove there are some ruins of a house or something. If you go there at nighttime there’s a guy sitting on the stairs “inside” of the ruined house. His name is like “Lonesome Hunter” or something to that effect. He’s got a very high level learned skill for Hikari and a great summon for Ochette or Partitio, being that it’s a nighttime only encounter. I’ve not seen a lot of people mention him so I figured I’d throw it out there.
@@Noarcs you’re absolutely right sorry. I just remembered he had a high level skill, not learnable though, you’re right. He has a skill called “corpse maker” it’s a 9 star level now attack and he needs 3 perfect jerky to hire from Ochette. I haven’t hired or befriended him yet to see what the move is like but if I do I’ll come back.
The Merchant saved me 30000 when i bought the Ship with Partitio. Honorable Mention for me would be the NPC thats above Agneas Home Village. He restores LP and SP every Time Agnea dances.
@@CoatTee Yup you need the NPC for a Side quests in Angneas Village hes the Grandson of the Old Lady that lives in the House near the Village entrance.
That judge is top notch. He was indispensable in helping me with the final boss. Him and the fortune teller lady in Wellgrove, she has a similar (but weaker) skill.
Rai Mei, Yurinas, and a Merchant in Merry Hills are all great for covering a weakness in both physical and elemental. Which Hikari can also learn their skills. There's also both a Theif and Man in Clockbank that can only be recruited at night. Carrying an AoE Steal and Collect skill respectively. Making farming enemies so much more profitable and faster if you are trying to steal items from them. Finally their are a pair of Singer twins in Merry Hills at night that can grant 100 SP or 1 BP to the entire party, which makes for good support.
There is an old man in Winterbloom that gives 1 BP to all four members. Nothing like the examples in the video, his strength is as low as it can get, but his skill ended up being very helpful for midgame boss fights.
In my early/mid game (still not down with story- I play slowly and I never get time to play tbh) any summon with Volley of Arrows was a lifesaver. It comes in so clutch in the early mid game to have an NPC run out and just nuke down a couple baddies with 4 huge damage arrow shots. In the later game I’m sure there’s much better but unless you’re on a boss, grabbing a high level NPC with Volley of Arrows won’t ever be a bad idea offensively. I also find that for Agnea, any NPC who has the support of refilling her latent gauge is hugely helpful. If they refil the latent every time she does a dance move it’s a huge help. Along with full power and latent power plus skills, Agnea is incredibly useful.
Great stuff. I didn’t know there were busted summons. The summon I used is tutor from new delta who i felt was already OP and saved me in a lot of boss battles.
Usually I bring Roque with Partitio 🤣 May not be the best NPC to bring, but his "Through appraisal" quite useful. Sometimes he do shield cover Partitio from enemy attack, though kind rarely. And also just wanting these two just to get along after what happen. 🤣🤣🤣
Oh wow this is the first i have seen for OT 2 with guided info on which npcs to recruit! Such good info. Thanks. Too bad I have already completed the game or this will really have helped:) 😅
Amazing video, very helpful. There is a Lance with 100% crit chance on every hit as weapon effect, I don't know how to get it or find it, I don't even remember the name, just saw it from another video but I can't find it anymore. Do you know how to get it?
They all can't be recruited at the same time but depending how far you are I would go with the support skill recruits first. One that I like that isn't in my list is The elderly man in winter bloom gives 1 bp to your team each round. But depends on your team and how far you are in the game

What is your favorite NPC to recruit?
Tough Warrior outside Ku. It takes training and humbling the guy, but the loot you steal from him is worth it while you smack him around.

You have to complete Osvalds' story before you can go back to the island

Nope! After completing his story you can go back pretty sweet and fits well with the story

I was so upset when the discount did not apply to the 80 billion.
I like the NPC that’s the father for the spoiled kid in New Delta. Calming Rhythm is good for most of the early to middle game.

Agnea and partitio are by far the best for recruiting, and volleyball is a good early game. I find best npcs are ones who have good support abilities
Once I realised that most of them are useless, I stopped hiring them, except for one that gives me more leaves when I sell to vendors.
Great stuff. I didn’t know there were busted summons.

Thanks! NPC recruiting is a great mechanic it allows for a lot of different options

I recommend hiring "soldier" for early level with agnea, i dont exactly remember where he was...

How do you get into Frigit Isle after doing Osvalds first chapter? I've tried going back but it would never let me
Can't go back until you complete his story, then you can go back there with your ship
