Special mention should go to the sound design. It was genuinely disturbing and creepy, and made battles feel epic. Even though you can't figure out what's going on most of the time. 😅
If the game had better hit confirms it would have been a blast. But the floaty air combat with no enemy hit confirms makes it difficult to tell when you are doing something right or wrong because there is no concept of spacing with hit confirms
When I saw the trailer,I knew that it’s a good game worth playing. A wizard going around killing Lovecraftian monsters,is hardcore in my taste. Definitely gonna play this on my switch.
Despite the criticism of the video (I totally agree with them specially the part "I don't know what killed me") and the fact that I'm not a rogue like fan, I am truly enjoying the game. As a Lovecraft fan, I was waiting for this game since the first time I heard of it. Hoping for an update addressing the problems in the game.
@@spiderspyy , the ragdoll physics are a little bit too much, the enemies bouncing everywhere in the screen like bubbles is a big down for me personally. @@spiderspyy I've just bought this game on PS5 and played for say 6 hours. I would say 1) Less "floaty" physics. Currently, most monsters just "floaty rush" at you. Regardless, the game is beautiful to me, and strangely compelling (how Lovecraftian!). So it's still fun even if there are points for improvement. It’s Grind - The Game, so far the game is interesting but I don’t know how long it will last. Not much sense of progress, close to zero story so far and you are doing the same over and over and over…
LoL @ this review. The fact you only show the worm boss speaks volumes. Act 1 alone has 3 main's along with plenty minis. And towards the end you unlock the Geomancer....quite the varied class, which slaps your character argument to shreds. As for those angry about the lack of saves, you can at the end of each dungeon. And after each act, you start over...but with a new set of levels to explore. It's not the easiest, nor is it the greatest. But yes you do get better at it as you go. It's called a learning curve, and reviewers used to factor that in. I will agree on the lack of story, and it being repetitive. But the rush of pushing to get through and further never ceases. And that's where the repetition has value.
Yeah I saw some gameplay from a new streamer but was waiting for the final verdict from one of my favorite channels and I'm glad I stuck with that original decision (sighs) awesome vid can't wait for the next one ^_^
I do not mind procedural generation as a whole...but tbh I wish with quite a few games they had more design to them perhaps when it comes to landmarks and well designed levels, Procedural generation often touted as endless replayability.. and for some games like No mans sky it works but in many of the indie game feels like same few areas just in different order and to me unmemorable after a while

There’s not a great sense of progression and the gameplay itself is boring. I’m very disappointed. Edit: Do not buy this game. You earn exp by killing mobs and collect souls of bosses and half - bosses, both currencies used to unlock new items and passive bonuses, new magic schools can be unlocked by finding their shrines in the game world (pyromancy, occult, nature etc). But you can upgrade only when one of your characters dies and you pick another one, there is loot in terms of capes, rings and two usable items
Considering it never changes after that level, they got more than enough into it to give a rational review. And even in general, this is always an asinine take.
Honestly some of the complaints in this review about the game at the end seem to be misinformed / outdated. I don't want to come off a fanboy, I like the game despite some of the flaws, however, I think the reviewer is missing the fact that some of the "discomfort", the "maze like environments", etc, are meant purposefully to be painful, confusing, random and Lovecraftian. I think while some of it can be a slog there is intention here this review is not picking up on. Darkest Dungeons might be a comparable here. MINIMAL SPOILERS: The immediate level after the claustrophobic caves is a fresh breath of air from the eldritch caverns beckoning deeper. Is this a "good" thing? Eh, again, I like but don't love this game, not here to defend it, just pointing out that I think there is intention here this review has missed. TLDR: If you liked Noita, OG Diablo, and / or Darkest Dungeons, maybe take a look?
@@redscience2117 I hope you play the game. The haunting narration as you face an eldritch unknown did remind me of my first time playing the original Diablo nearly 20 years ago, and being afraid. The grim knowledge that you will be ripped asunder that you must take on reminds me of the courage you have to take on during a Darkest Dungeon run. Noita might be a better parallel, for sure. So true, the fighting mechanics never deepen beyond the frantic hit and run, run and gun, kite and double back with a dash-through. All of which is accessible at the beginning. Even when you're playing a different class, these fundamentals don't change. This tends to lend a feeling of boredom to the game eventually, whether you're doing well on a run or not, just because the fighting is always the same.
