Notice the title of this UA-cam: "popular music in Italy ca 1500....? One of musical education usually would enjoy this style of composition. As an Organist, I had to study music from the time notes were written on parchment as scratches and squiggles. It's so cool to see how brilliant the people of the time were in those days, considering they had no computer, no phones, virtually no contact with the outside world unless visiting musicians came into town and shared their experiences from whence they lived, traveled or heard. I marvel at the simplicity, but that after 500 plus years, I still find it enjoyable. How many love songs have that kind of staying power? Great job performers! More! More!
Thanks for the comment. I think Shakespeare, if he had inserted musical interludes in the “Merchant” may have chosen something from a later period. You can check out another of my playlists of Venetian music “Secular music in the late Renaissance from Northern Italy (1570-1610)” 😊
Thanks for the comments. That was one of my early attempts with MIDI editing. Please check out my more recent renditions. I have added some "world premiere" pieces in recent months.
Thought Id share this conclusion. Last night I heard a humming in my room no one was there and I heard it vividly like a women was sitting on my bed! I was soothed by it not afraid and a bit confused. We have a hundred year old house and used to have Italian people living here. Th humming I heard was similar to a hymn. And we have also heard "Salutations my friend!" in our basement after 3 knocks. Knowing that salute is more Latin and from the 1400s I'm assuming the energy or what ever you want to call it is a lady from the 1400s from Italy that was related to the family that lived here. Thx that's my Ted talk.
It turns out that Christopher Columbus’s son Fernando was a bibliophile who purchased a book now called El Cancionero de Colombina which is a huge tome of Renaissance music very similar to and contemporary with music on this soundtrack.
Thanks for the comments. This all really excellent, would love to play this midi soundtrack thru my roland sc88. Is there any chance you could share those midi files? Also so the notation/compositions stays true to the originals?
Thank you for your interest. I no longer have the original midi because as soon as I edit them, I convert them into wav format. In the Description section, I usually name the source of the midi file.
that's a normal story when i was small ,i really liked"the 3 musketeer". Decades later,i discovered that"the 3"belong to the Renaissance era, then i started listening to the Renaissance music. The first video is this video and i love it,but then i didn't have a google accout, now i have one and i can do everything.Beside Renaissance musics,I also listen to Medival, ancient Greek and Roman,Dynastian musics.........That's my story, what your story? :3
I used to direct an early music group when I was in college 35 years ago. Now, I don't have the time nor resources to put together more than a couple of players. So I improvised using "fake" instruments and voices.
Yes indeed it is. It was one of my earliest experiments with an iPhone app. I have since then tweaked different parameters to get a less mechanical sound.
There are no credits with regard to the soundtrack because I rendered all the pieces electronically using MIDI software. These are not copied from CD, DVD, MP3 or other recorded media.
I can’t believe you went back in time just to record this live
