As someone who saw this in theatres and a second time at the drive-in I can 100% confirm there was never any green sky effect in the movie. Jan de Bont has said in interviews the green was what he wanted but couldn't achieve with the filters available at the time of the movie's release. So yes, the green is finally correct the way it should have been.
Yes, it was not as green as it is on 4K in the theater. But I do remember when Paxton says "going green" the sky was green. In the new interview from De Bont on the 4K disc, he does say the color grading is much more accurate, even more accurate than on any release, including the theater. I'm happy De Bont was able to fully realize his vision of the film.

I lived in Tornado Alley in central TX, and for 35 years there, including numerous tornado warnings, there was a dark blue or dirty brown hue. Never green! You can obviously tell the green is over saturated in the 4K.

It’s like a dark filter was added to the scenes. This is a huge mistake. The “green” scene was tamed when put in “Filmmaker” mode and looked much more realistic. Otherwise, the film looks and sounds amazing!
I don't know about you. But I've been in heavy weather like that and it gets very dark and ominous. It completely felt like the real deal when I've been in a car in extreme weather.

I picked up the Blu-ray with the glow-in-the-dark slipcover and didn't watch it because I knew the 4k version was coming out. I am glad I waited. The 4k really brought the movie theater experience right to my home screen. I must also mention that it's my first time watching this film.

When the tornados are happening the sky is dark now on the Blu Ray it’s a bright sunny day so that was a nice change the audio to I’m pretty sure there’s some new sound effects mixed in that I’ve never heard before. There were only two CGI effects that looked bad to me the opening shot with the satellite in space and the shot of Jonas dying that explosion is so fake but other then that it’s just two little scenes that don’t last long. I believe the original Blu Ray had a Dolby True HD soundtrack but it was very weak.

Exactly. I'm not 100% sure on the dvd but the bluray never reproduced this. The problem is those who are complaining saying that's not how it originally looked are accustomed to the bluray. That's how they only seen it.
Although I did watch an HD SDR 5.1 downscale of the 4K on streaming it was still very impressive. I had remembered watching the film on DVD and VHS, the storm scenes were more like the 4K, dark and dim, the BD looked to bright and soft making the scenes less intense, it was pretty disappointing. This 4K however is a game changer for watching the film and I'm definitely considering getting it soon.
It looks amazing i have the zavvi uk collectors edition on preorder. I hope the steelbook inside isnt the one with the 2 stars running away from the twister @TwinFlicks
It looks really awesome. I'm going to watch the new one next week. I did just notice that there's a mistake on IMDB regarding the year of the original Twister. I remember when it came out like it was yesterday, and if it came out in the year it says on IMDB then that means I must be getting old....so.... clearly an IMDB mistake 😜
Does anyone know when walmart or target r going to start selling twister 4k in stores? i went on realese date to 2 differant walmarts and the employees didnt even put them out yet. i went back 3 days in a row and still there not in stores. there not sold out. they werent even put out. there r no stickers saying twister 4k. after a week of trying to find a copy in stores i ended up ordering a copy on amazon and when it came the disc wasnt working, i had to return twister to 4k and get my money back. Im still waiting for stores to start selling twister. i dont know whats going on with this release
I dislike the green even if it can be accurate to real life weather. I think it is very distracting and silly looking and distracts from the framing of the shots.
@@TwinFlicks I guess I just dislike revisionism. The perfect remaster to me is a faithful rescan and this is really good except for the green scenes. It doesn’t look exactly fine tuned. It looks like a color filter over the whole screen.
@c-samleystudios1573 This is a faithful rescan of the original negative. Yes, they did add in extra green. But it was always green. I distinctly remember the sky being a dark green in the theater and on the VHS tape. The DVD and Bluray did not reproduce this accurately. Now, it has been reproduced accurately. Also director Jan De Bont himself supervised the entire restoration and color garding for accuracy.
I have to make a correction. The HD master to Twister on Bluray was NOT a upscale of the SD master. It was in fact a new HD master in the early 2000's

I felt like the green was hurting my eyes a little bit. It wasn’t very comfortable to look at.
Wasn’t the whole film though and it wasn’t there in every storm so I can overlook it.
The turbine bluray of Twister had excellent picture and sound.
