It's not what it was... 80s/early 90s it was humble and neighborly.. people used to help each other and be friendly, with long standing residents, most of the elderly have moved because it just grew too quickly, not for the better... There are nice people still but majority are just in it for themselves... its a shame really, Cornell for example took up prime farming land for very compact and tight housing, big shame... progression is everywhere but Markham was like Stouffville, then they both grew too fast... its just not the same, we never used to lock our cars or home, now you have too.. seems like majority of markham doesn't work now, everybody is home always, idk how they do it when everything in Markham has skyrocketed... tbh I miss the old Markham dearly...
Better to live in Markham than Scarborough, Etobicoke, Vaughan, Brampton, or Mississauga. Lol I grew up here and now raising my own family here. Your negative reason are all Millennial reasons. And high visible minorities population is a negative? 🤦♂️
@@miniioe typical jealousy of people making more money than him.... i know a lot of doctors, lawyers, and engineers that's moved to markham to raise their families. There's a lot of money makers in the GTA that don't have to launder money

Were priced out in Markham, well the whole GTA lol. Moving out to Ottawa in a few months to finally afford a house and its making me sad. I Love Markham's vibe. Great for raising a fam. Great schools, an awesome peds unit in the hosp as well.
Wow. Does it mean a low salary earner can't leave there? I love the fact that it's a good city to raise kids and family friendly. We are a family of 4.
@@olabisichristianahohunola7968 You can. If you are not picky. There are basements or condo units available that can definitely house 4 people but pickings are slim. We paid 3300 for a townhome so its a lot but that didn't happen overnight, rent went up gradually since covid Paid $2500 in 2020, went up to $2800 in 2021 then $3300 in 2022. Markham is great. We drove back to visit my sister last weekend and I truly miss it.
Lmao Pacific mall is trashed these days Markham village wtf ..thats just the original markham main street ... Iv been here since we had dirt roads over 30 years ago

I used to bowl and play pinball at Club 300 in Markham from the day it opened to the day it closed. I was a former 6 time world pinball champion.
As a Chinese these reasons are exactly why I would like to live in Markham

Do you have any single male acquaintances/relatives who live in Markham? I wanna reside uptown.
@@miniioe A single male isn't gonna be able to afford a house in Markham.
@@crassianleviathan6187 ??? Depends on his income 😒
#1 Reason not to come to markham is you need to be from Hong Kong with money to launder here
I moved to Markham in December 1982. True enough everything built is owned by quote investors.
Why do y'all have to lump chinese folks with money laundering??? My relatives live there and we ain't launderers
@@miniioe I mean it was original flood of people from Hong Kong. Did I say China? go to bed wumao
@@miniioe Hong Kong is an independent country and is not a part of china, Stop supporting the chinese government.

I think you got the title a little mixed up because the a lot reasons are kinda destroying the point
I live in one of the Heritage Homes but not on Heritage Corners. I do a lot of walking up and down that street as its only a stone's throw from me.
I live in Markham and this is the best advice I've seen.
i lived in markham for 3 years and barely saw any diversity.
I used to come to this mall to buy 10 movies for 5 dollars
Me too! 🙈
