FRANKLY, YOU LEFT THE HOLLIES. ALAN,BOBBY, BERNIE,TERRY, TONY, ARE THE FABULOUS FIVE, THE BEST SOUNDING OF THE SONGS I LISTEN TO EVERY DAY. THAT'S THE HOLLIES TO ME!

Tony Hicks told one interviewer that it was more like they told Nash to leave. He kept going back and forth to the States, not available when needed. They told him to go ahead and make his move, so they could go on. They had two #1s after he left.

This is a valid and very personal point of view, but the Hollies did so much after Graham left . We tend to think of the early era as the "golden era". This was a group that lasted over many years with a high level of productivity that didn't depend on one or even two specific band members.

You are dead on! The Hollies even had hits when Clarke left briefly in the 70's. I love the Hollies from the Graham Nash days, but who can find better songs than "Long Cool Woman," "He Ain't Heavy," "Air That I Breathe," "The Day Curley Bill Shot Down Crazy Sam McGee," and many more! No, Nash made his decision to leave and he had a great career with CSNY. But the Hollies adjusted to personnel changes better than any band in rock history. So, in fine, I totally agree with you.

@@PariahAvenger agree 100%, in my opinion their biggest three Hits were after Nash Left, Heavy, LCW and The air that I breathe, magic woman touch, The baby were great songs even tho not massive hits.

I agree the current lineup is a pale shadow of the original band but The Hollies were not just about one or two members. The Hollies have always been about music not egos.

The Hollies became a better band after Nash left and Sylvester joined. Confessions of a Mind and Distant Light are proof.

I wouldn't say better, but certainly equal. I think Sylvester did for The Hollies what his childhood friend Joey Molland did for Badfinger, i.e. he brought an edgier rock sound to the band.

I fully appreciate Nash’s work with The Hollies but he apparently doesn’t since he doesn’t listen to it so how can he judge?

Graham Nash is one of the few 60s musicians I know of to not have an outstanding ego, as far as I can ascertain. What an intelligent, charming mind!

It is hard to say who are the Hollies after what Graham said. I mean, isn’t it the Hollies without Eric Haydock? Or Bern, or even Terry who, by the way, had an incredible voice?

  • @ManzannaSaotome43

Cmon Graham you would had easily split up the band since you left in 1968 (but you hadn't) and everybody could join random bands afterwards. I know you were hurt bc of Tony declining the RNRHOF ceremony but even with Terry Sylvester filling your shoes during a larger period is great for The Hollies. Graham I love you but simply can't get your point to always overshadow The Hollies work which I say its pretty close to the Fab Four.

This is pathetic. Yes he was co-founder. But Hollies went on from 69 to obtain bigger hits than before. Nash chose to leave and hollies rose to bigger stardom. Mind you - Peter Howard has been there for 19 years and is doing a great job. Nash was there for 7 years + a minor appearance in '83.

Quite a strange comment from Graham. His and Allan's time together in the Hollies was just one single era. Hollies is still Hollies, in modern times. After all, no person stays the same for 60 years either.

The current Hollies might rightly be annoyed ; such comments could hit their ticket sales.
Bear in mind which Hollies' member walked away,

Graham is the embodiment of "King Midas in Reverse" as everything he gets involved in turns to dust. Thankfully Allan Clarke realised in time that he and The Hollies were a great band and they more than survived they did better without Graham. Get over it Graham! If only Crosby had seen the truth before the rot set in for CSNY.

A lot of people love graham, and a lot of people say his ego is huge. I personally like him. you can tell he is a very smart guy, obviously, but he definitely does hold a hollies grudge. i thinkthat'ss pretty clear im planning on going to see him later this year, hopefully meeting him. He was in the band he has a point on his own . I get that, but i tend to disagree with oh this member or that member isn't there, so its not them." I get as fans we all want as many original members as possible, i agree, but i also respect keeping the music alive some people just are complainers and aren't grateful..

I call BS on Nash, the Hollies continued to be great without him..he had his own thing..Allan Clarke missed. But the touring Hollies play fine music to this day!

.......and The Byrds were not the same without Crosby and The Springfields were not the same without Neil and Stephen. Give it a rest. There's been so much brilliant music made since the mellow and merciful passing of post-Deja Vu CSN that this attempt at stirring up controversy by waking up Jurassic Park, and using the brilliant Hollies as your foil, seems little more than a cheap theatrical trick!

How many bands with any kind of success/longevity have zero personnel changes? Answer: zero.

I think the band sounds better without him, what a ego trip he's on, two of the band members are still going, what does that say, get over yourself nash.
