The scene where Oberyn goes and talks to Tyrion is one of my personal favorites. Just two great actors doing their thing, and apparently that was one of the first scenes that Pedro filmed for the show.
Littlefinger is building his power base. He’s already lord of Harrenhall, now he’s the widower of the Lady of the vale, and he’s got Sansa who everyone thinks is the Heir to Winterfell which could give him control of the North.
"Goodbye Brother" playing while Sansa is in the yard is just perfect. Always one of my favourite tracks in the soundtrack, not just musically but because of the name as well.
Sandor talking about his burns tears me up every time. You see where Aria's animosity and fear for him turns to heart break. She cant help but pity him given how wonderful her brothers were to her, and each other.
I think Oberyn does not like Tyrion as a Lannister but strongly sympathizes with Tyrion the dwarf. There were similarities between Tyrion’s scenes and A Christmas Carol. In the latter, Scrooge is visited by three ghosts who represent certain aspects of time. Three warriors paid a visit to Tyrion. Jaime as his past, Bronn as his present, and Oberyn as his uncertain future.
I love the fact that Oberyn wants to be Tyrion's champion for two reasons, The more explicit reason is to get revenge on The Mountain. But I think he also has a kind of soft spot for Tyrion, or at least believes him to be an unjustly treated person he, Oberyn would like to help. He's not a close friend of Tyrion, and he hates Tyrion's family. But he recognizes a wronged person when he sees one. And he saw that about Tyrion all the way back to when he saw him as an infant.
In all fairness, they could have sealed 2/3rds of the tunnel leaving just a 5 foot wide corridor on one side for men/horses to march through single file on their way to range beyond the wall. no way the wildlings could have passed through there single file with the first few getting killed and jamming everything up and the giants could not even fit into it.
@@MugShotzReacts I know, too bad they did not listen to me!!!! If Jon Snow had proposed it, the first builder Yarwick, likely would have agreed, Ser Aliser could not have objected because it still allowed the rangers to go through the gate and out beyond the wall....and it was completely logical for defense.
Oh I do so enjoy sharing these with you! Ashley, that was the sweetest wee 'oh' at 14:50 and bravo on yet again reading the foreshadowing with your initial guesses for the trial by combat. The casting for almost the entire show is perfect, one of the exceptions is that of Jorah Mormont. Ian makes it difficult to see the character for what he's written as, a great bear of a man, whose devotion is far creepier than Ian is capable of. Then there's Rory's Hound. I can't imagine anyone better in the role. Quick round of cheers for Hot-Pie, the cameo no-one knew would delight us so much. Catch you all next time.
OMG! Ashley was half correct with her first guess. I was internally screaming when she changed her guess. 😂 Oberyn: "That's not a monster." I told Cersei. "That's just a baby." 😭❤ I love Oberyn! Petyr Baelish's facial expression when he pushes Lysa down the moon door always makes me laugh. The look of disgust on his face... 😂
If you like Thomas Brodie Sangster who played Jojeen Reed, i recommend you The Maze Runner movies, i'ts a trilogy of three films. He plays a character called Newt in those movies. Awesome trilogy. I love them. Fun facts: Thomas was 23 when he did this 13 year old boy Jojeen Reed. The first Maze Runner movie was filmed 2013 and during that year he also appeared as Jojeen Reed .
@@DukeJimbob I hear you, but because of the nature of this story, some characters get a bigger spot light than others. I look at this sort of thing according to how much impact a certain character was able to make in their limited time. Book or show, Oberyn was like a lightning bolt. All the tension went way up when he was around. I love a lot of those other characters, but for me, the part he played was nearly as important as the part Ned played with just a fraction of the opportunity.
If you want to know the motives of Baelish vs Varys, rewatch the episode "The Climb" in which they argue about the Realm and how they view things. Varys says it's important to believe in things like the Throne to inspire people. And he's like if things like that are not there, then it's a gaping pit, it's chaos. Then Baelish is like "Chaos is a Ladder". He's perfectly fine creating chaos to be able to climb the ladder.
Allisor Thorne fought for the Targaryens during Robert’s rebellion which is why he ended up in the Nightswatch which also explains the chip on his shoulder and his hatred for the son of Ned Stark. One of the many pieces of background the show doesn’t bother to explain (not to mention the fact Storms End is protected by ancient magic which was why Davos had to smuggle Melisandre into the castle).
This is maybe my favorite GoT-episode. Not because of spectacular action sequences or stuff, but just two dialogs. The one where Oberyin tells Tyrion that he will be his champion. And the one where The Hound explains to Arya what loneliness really means.
Through-out the series, the hound mentions his particular hatred of knights. The show writers missed the opportunity to connect-the-dots of the root of his hatred of knights. In the books, the scene w/ hound speaking to arya of his childhood, he not only reveals his hurt that his own brother would treat him so cruelly, but also his disbelief that such a man is honored w/ a knighthood shortly after this event. It seems until that point the young Sandor believed the myth of the gallant and noble knight, but traumatically experienced the reality. As he told the newly knighted Ser Bronn just before the battle of the blackwater: "Your'e nothing but a killer...just like me".
Fun fact: That “You and my sister deserve eachother” line is especially hilarious because IRL the actors portraying Cersei and Bronn dated and it ended badly. The only scene they have together Cersei walks past Bronn wordlessly, after that it was apparently in their contracts to NEVER be on camera together again
@@SelvesteSand Watch the rest of the series.. they aren’t even in the same room together In ANY scene going forward. If Cersei needs to be in a scene and Bronn is already in there, he’ll find any excuse to dip before she shows up
This episode has so many great moments. Stephani the look on your face when Ashley says Oberon for Tyrion was like how in the hell did she guess that, then when you talked her out of it the little smirk with an eyeroll of relief was amazing. Also all the moon shoot stuff is cracking me up: I don't know if it is the same in Canada but when I was 10-14 years old (my god that was a long time ago) where I am from moon shoot was a synonym for your butt hole. So all the up and down and out the moon shoot commentary had me falling out of my chair with laughter like i was a kid again so thank you for that.
Yes, Petyr is playing the Great Game. What does he want? Well, in the books, he wanted to make Sansa the ruler of the Valley and, with the help of the army of the lords of the Valley, return the North to her. And get Sansa along with two possessions. Over the course of the series, his motives become blurred and less clear.
My hot take is the original Mountain is the best one. He was menacing and actually looked like he could be the older brother of The Hound. For as much as ages are messed with in this show, the mountain should at least look like he could be older than the hound, yet the actor is quite literally 20 years younger than the actor for the hound.
That's hardly a hot take. The first actor had been perfect, and they didn't want to have to recast him. It was an impossible task to find someone as perfect again. They literally just used their in-house tall-guy as a stand-in in season 2 while still searching for a proper replacement. They didn't cast Hafþór because he was a better fit for the role than the original actor but because they had lost the original and they had to cast **someone.**
@@SelvesteSand I have hated everytime they did recasting. I know Max Von Sidow is a great actor but they should have kept the same old man with the long hair in the tree.

The problem with taking a long time between episodes and sometimes just missing dialogue is that you forget important points made in the previous episodes; Varys CANNOT be working with Little Finger because he told Lady Olenna that he is trying to keep LF from making his plans happen any way he can. He said Little Finger is one of the most dangerous men in Westeros because he would burn the kingdoms to the ground if he could be King Of The Ashes. Varys knows LF wants the Throne. Also, in the Throne room LF verified this saying all those who opposed him would be without heads so would not be able to see him when ge sat the Throne. So, yes, he has some power plans - the biggest.
