It’s actually not bad overall money wise, the going rate for an average starter in the NFL now is 25-35 mil a year. The problem is the Saints weren’t in any position in the first place to give that contract with the cap situation the way it is.
Cut Carr as post June 1, let Rattler start every game and see if he can show improvement. If he does, he can possibly be your franchise QB. If not, you get a high draft pick and you get that QB that way. All while saving money on the cap. Seems like the best strategy to me.

Get rid of Carrbage already. Let him go and eat the cap. He will just go suck somewhere else anyway. Serviceable starting QB but not the long term answer to any team. Get rid of him and start your rebuild this offseason by letting all the aging vets go
We've been in a pickle for a long time. I had a real hard time coming to grips on Sean Payton quitting on us. I completely agree that we need to just purge the high cost players and manage through the pain next year but then they absolutely have to do better going forward. I agree w/ your assessment.
He's a ne'er do well quarterback, competent but not successful. Arch will be in the draft in a year or two. How cool would it be if the Saints traded up to get Arch? Get a placeholder now, maybe hope Rattler or Haener do more than Ian Book or Garrett Grayson. Do what Kansas City did with Mahomes and move up to get the grandson of Archie.
He shouldn’t take pay cut… saints could have gotten baker for a box of pop tarts but choose to pay 100 million to mediocre Carr… I would have take Hill as quarterback of care
We were 66mil over. After the Ram deal we’re 50 over. What you’re proposing is not possible. To make him a June 1st cut you have to carry the full hit to June 1st. It’s not feasible to cut all of the high priced vets like you say. The cap won’t allow it.
If l was a GM and saw that comment, I'm not restructuring his contract. You already made that stupid mistake once, pleaseeee not again.. Carr side the tape speaks for itself WOW!!!!..
I'd keep Carr for the same reason you'd cut him, plunge hard: 1. To fix/reset cap for following season. (But may not be feasible). 2. Start rebuilding with drafted support players now to get ready for the next QB who shouldn't be drafted until other offensive players are in place. 3. Arch Manning will be in Texas until he has a degree (2years). So after 1 more year w/Carr, then tank. For top 5 pick.
Yes!! Cut his ahhh...asap (like yesterdays)! Should've cut Carr that same year he jumped on the Saints, they just making the team look the worst this year because the SuperBowl is in The City (New Orleans) duhh!!!
Take the cap hit and cut him in June if he doesn’t want to help the club and accept a reduction in salary. Now is as good a time as any to embrace the rebuilding of the franchise.
@@KermitTFYT In their current state, no he would not. He doesn't want his family members to go through what he did. That is why he made Eli holdout when he got drafted by San Diego. If it were 3 years ago, he would have allowed it.
I agree. I'd rather 3-6 wins with Spencer, than 8-9 wins with Carr. I think 1-3 quarterbacks will be a franchise to an NFL starter, in the 26 draft. With that in mind, I say if you believe a player in the draft can protect your quarterback draft him in 25. A player can help the running game, or passing game draft him. Besides that best player available including punter. They have a chance to draft a Joe Burrow. I don't want him to have the protection Joe had, and end up on IR
Yeah cut Carr, ever since he through that pick against KC, I was done. He can’t get right. To be a vet he is awful in the pocket. Jus go with Rattler and then draft another QB.
Saying you are getting cap "savings" by cutting Carr is a bit misleading. But it is true, the Saints need to go total rebuild and stink for awhile, not just one season.
I totally agree. Id move back in the draft to acquire more picks as well. Try and get a second 2 and a third 3 for our 9th plus the other teams first, if its a late 1st round pick from them then get added picks in 2026. Then we´d have 8 picks in the top 4 rounds in the upcoming draft. Build in the trenches and get an X receiver to complement Olave and Shareed. Roll with Rattler. Accept next season will be tough but necessary. If Rattler doesnt develop draft your franchise QB in 2026. Move on from old expensive players including Carr, Jordon, and the honey Badger. Keep Davis as hes still getting it done. Id draft 2 defensive tackles, a guard, a DE, a big possession receiver, a RB, a Safety and a TE with those picks. the top pick is a toss up, id go best available between DE and WR. I read that Fuaga could move across to guard and excel. In that case a tackle might make sense to begin to really establish a solid offensive line.
Derek Carr is 14-13 as new orleans starting quarterback. Of those 14 wins 2 of them came against teams with winning records, so I'm not sure what film he's watching. Carr is 77-92 as an NFL starting quarterback, that's 15 games under .500 and he's getting paid $50 million!? That's insanity! Andy Dalton is 88-86 and he's getting paid $3 million. Cut Carr, sign Andy and develop Spencer next year. WHO DAT BABY!!
@@kendavis625I'm not worried about how much dak is getting paid, but he's 78-51 as a starting quarterback. That's a winning record. Once again, Carr is 77-92 that's a losing record.
I am fine with keeping Carr one more year, run him out and we can see with Rattler. At the very least after two years we will know if Rattler has the potential to be the future. We need to fix our contracts and embrace the suck for a year or two, fully clear our cap backlog and get back into the position where we can actually make real moves on the market
7-10 Carr season doesn't help us. Spence either is that guy OR he sucks and we get another top 10 pick. Either way, Spencer starting is the best option.

100 % agree with everything you said I say this draft you sure up the Oline get some weopons get some young talent on defense and we always seem to find a few diamonds in the rough in the udfa market hopefully we kill it there and instead of getting a QB then building a team you can have a team pre ready for your franchise QB with a fresh start but we gotta cut Carr and really suck in 2025 saints just do it us fans are giving yall the pass to tank and who knows maybe Rattler shows us something worth keeping but basically your future is determined in these next 2 off seasons and we’re ok with that as long as we can see we’re building towards something Carrs gonna be good enough to keep you from drafting his replacement but suck worse enough to miss playoffs this is it this is were we work what ever magic is left in the organization. And we gotta get in the arch manning sweepstakes he’s got the right last name it’s the perfect storyline he’ll be built to succeed for the future the nfl is all about story lines what sounds better then the last 2 first round draft picks we made were grandpa and grandson this is the stuff the NFL likes to get behind
As mid tier as David is, I wouldn’t take a pay cut. I don’t think any NFL player should take a pay cut. They never get random raises, and they have to fight and claw to get their deals
Not yes, but HELL YES!!!!!!!!!!! He’s an albatross hanging around your neck… just pulling you down with a very low ceiling when healthy. Could there not be a better blueprint than from their former coach in Denver? SP was willing to take an $80 million dead cap hit. There was supposed to be no plausible way for Denver to get rid of Wilson. But they did it. He did it by drafting about where the Saints draft this year the fifth or six QB and they’re going to the playoffs in the first year for Pete sake! Meanwhile, Russell Wilson is slowly bringing Pittsburgh down and he is much better than Carr! To beat a dead horse and keep him really shows how inept Mickey Loomis is relative to his vision and complete lack of insight with a heavy dose of arrogance! Will anybody ever acknowledge the only reason the Saints had success relative to the draft is because of Sean Payton? I feel like I’m in the twilight zone because of the IRONY! So the Saints should be doing exactly EXACTLY what their former HOF Coach is doing in Denver right now? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤨🤨🤨🤨
Let’s be real. The saints can do what the Vikings did this season IF we hire the right head coach AND stay healthy next season. My point is I could see the saints in the playoffs next season with Carr as QB1 if we hire a good head coach, have a good draft (2-3 starters) and we stay healthy. The saints are not rebuilding in 2025 we still have Cam, Demario, Tryann, Taysome, AK and most likely Derek Carr too. We are going to compete next season (hopefully make the playoffs especially if we draft 2-3 starting caliber rookies) but in 2026 we will definitely start the rebuild and that’s the reality of the saints for the next 2 seasons in my opinion ⚜️

I think he's goofy enough to try and tweak this thing and kick the can farther down the road and prolong the pain. I hope I'm wrong.
If I was DC4 I want to get the hell out of New Orleans there's no need to stay there and wasting more time and good job DC4 for not taking a pay cut take that Saints fans the only way the Saints could get rid of DC4 is by cutting him I dare you guys to do that😅
100% correct Matt. No other way around it or we stay below average and win 6-9 games per season for many years !!!!
Get rid of Carrbage already. Let him go and eat the cap. He will just go suck somewhere else anyway. Serviceable starting QB but not the long term answer to any team. Get rid of him and start your rebuild this offseason by letting all the aging vets go
He's knows the saints is not going to cut him he basically got them by the balls the saints trying not to restructure contacts to get under the cap
🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🙏🏾 CUT EVERYBODY LOL
Hendrickson, Baun and Ellis is such egg in the face. Loomis has got to go!!!! Shame
We've been in a pickle for a long time. I had a real hard time coming to grips on Sean Payton quitting on us. I completely agree that we need to just purge the high cost players and manage through the pain next year but then they absolutely have to do better going forward. I agree w/ your assessment.
If we do anything that you just said we need to do and then I'm no longer a Saints fan 👍🏼
Yes, cut Derek Carr.
Great truth preach Matt.
Monkey Lupus has destroyed this team so thoroughly
He doesn't want to be a Saint, and that's good, so please, New Orleans cut him
Nothing will be done at ANY position until a new head coach is hired. The new HC may want to draft a QB or make a trade for one.
Let's start with the firing of Mickey Loomis and all his loyalists and start the rebuild.
I'd keep Carr for the same reason you'd cut him, plunge hard:
How about keeping Carr... benching his arse... suck for 2025... enter 2026 w a hi pick AND a clean cap?
YES!!!!!!
Everything for your family man your a millionaire chill y’all good take ya pay cut if you really care about the team fk outta here
Take the cap hit and cut him in June if he doesn’t want to help the club and accept a reduction in salary. Now is as good a time as any to embrace the rebuilding of the franchise.
Manning's grandfather would make him holdout if the Saints draft him. The same thing happened SD tried to draft Eli.
Archie would definitely make arch be a saint.
@@KermitTFYT In their current state, no he would not. He doesn't want his family members to go through what he did. That is why he made Eli holdout when he got drafted by San Diego. If it were 3 years ago, he would have allowed it.
@ guaranteed we get a good coach we could get arch if rattler sinks.
If Carr is not healed up by March, it's a moot point anyway. He's protected (salary-wise) while on IR.
We keep carr yall can say goodbye to getting arch manning because we still going to miss the playoffs but might end picking 12 or 15
We want Spencer rattler. Fuck arch
100% agree with this take. Needed to reset even before the Carr contract
Cut him by june 1
Yeah cut Carr, ever since he through that pick against KC, I was done. He can’t get right. To be a vet he is awful in the pocket. Jus go with Rattler and then draft another QB.
Yup. We suck again but each win is so valuable.
Derek Carr the goat... 😂
Cut him & take the hit or keep him & end another season below 500
Saying you are getting cap "savings" by cutting Carr is a bit misleading. But it is true, the Saints need to go total rebuild and stink for awhile, not just one season.
I don't know why I did the resign him All he had to do was just let it play out
I totally agree.
How do we feel about taking a guy like Dart on day 2?
Derek Carr is 14-13 as new orleans starting quarterback. Of those 14 wins 2 of them came against teams with winning records, so I'm not sure what film he's watching. Carr is 77-92 as an NFL starting quarterback, that's 15 games under .500 and he's getting paid $50 million!? That's insanity! Andy Dalton is 88-86 and he's getting paid $3 million. Cut Carr, sign Andy and develop Spencer next year. WHO DAT BABY!!
How much is Dak making?
Ain no fine with nothin he gotta go asap
Carr is an overpaid bum
8:49 welcome to what it’s been like to be a Raider fan
I’m all for all players getting as much money as they can but bruh said “with what I put on tape” is hilarious and what he put on tape should have him cut 😂😂
Even drew Brees took a pay cut in 2020 to help the team, only a suck QB do something like this? Figures
The only reason Drew Brees won that Super Bowl is because the NFL for sorry for your city you guys had a bad hurricane over there and you guys needed money over there to build your city back there you have it Fact's enjoy that Super Bowl because it's the last one the Saints are going to win
Great job
Start all over.
Cut him!!
as a season ticket holder for 15 years i wish they just end this "error" tank for a number one q.b in 26!... just bottom out! i'll sit though it! Cutt CARR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yo we got Brock Bowers over here Homie…Call up Chucky this getting Nicey
The qb room cost is fixed no matter who plays.
Could he be traded and saints pay 1/2 or 3/4 of his salary IF NOT EAT IT AND MOVE ON
No one wants car for even half his contract.
Mickey gave him a no trade cause which is crazy!
Cut him in the June window and it is 11 mill hit I’m in it’s past time to move on and we have to get rid of the dead weight face the music and have a youth MOVEMENT
@@samuelscarber7803 this!!
Better to know we are going suck in advance than win two games have hope and then suck the rest of the season.
They are 14-12 when he played and 0-8 when he didn't. He's probably closer to Kirk Cousins, than Andy Dalton. A top 15 QB.
Arch Manning is not going into the draft next year after potentially only playing one year. That isn't the Manning way.
Love the way you think, I don’t think the front office has the balls to make such a move. Loomis is terrible, always doubling down on his mistakes. DA would still be the coach if if were up to him
How in the H E double hockey sticks we let Trey Hendrickson walk 😂
If he’s scheduled to make 50 Million and we cut him and still owe him more than half that money then no
Cut Carr now!!!! I agree with Matt!!!
Loomis threw $150M of someone else’s money on DC? Deserves to get fired!
Let him go see what other teams think he's worth that should wake him up
We restructure our must have vets and post June 1 cut Carr and Ramcyzk we be positive 20 plus million and 90 plus next year it’s a must. Nothing else makes sense
