  • Growing mint from cuttings is super easy. All you have to do is take a cutting of mint from an existing plant, strip off the bottom leaves, stick it in water, and in just a few days roots will start growing.
From there, you can plant your rooted mint in a pot with potting soil to continue growing and then transplant it into a container or out in the garden. If you want to quickly multiply the number of mint plants you have, definitely consider propagating your own in water.

What is far more effective and efficient with respect to multiplying mint plants is taking the cuttings and immediately sticking the cutting into another pot or the ground somewhere. It is a plant that you don't need to grow roots on by placing it in water first, it roots far more easily by placing a cutting in the ground. I keep some fresh cuttings in my kitchen to add to fresh tea I make almost everyday in the summer months and I also take cuttings and stick them in the ground around plants I want to keep mice and rodents away from. I think I have a 98 or 99% success rate with immediately sticking the cuttings in the ground. Whereas the cuttings I keep in water don't root nearly as easily even if I don't use them within a few days. Great video. Simply sharing what I've experienced over the years.
