Jon, it does not look like you are ETTR a lot, how many stops do you ETTR on this example? I used the zebras and the skin looked much lighter than yours without the LUT. is this one stop to the right?

You’re right, this clip was not exposed far enough to the right. This afternoon, (after having to take my a7 III to the shop to repair a damaged HDMI port), I did some more tests of ETTR using false color and zebras and was about to share the results on my blog, but the latest editor in Wordpress makes my screenshots dark. I hope to be able to share my latest findings very soon.
But I can say that in the clips I just shot, the brightest skin tones (my forehead) were between 95-100 IRE, that in the SOOC clip, my face was paper-white, and I was still able to recover every bit of information from the image. I also hope to be able to share shots of the scopes in my next video.
edit: it turns out that the highlights in my forehead were not 95%, but around 80% or so, judging from the false color. 😝

@@JonPais Before you apply the Leeming LUT, do you do any WB or corrections? in your scopes, does the dynamic range looks fully distrubuted (from 0 to close to 100)? Sometimes I find before I apply the LUT that my dynamic range in the scopes are too much in the center, and if I play with highlights, blacks, whites, shadows and then apply the LUT that it looks better, but wondering if we are not supposed to touch those before applying the LUT.

Sorry for the late reply, I only just saw your comment. You'll want to do corrections after applying the LUT. You can see what the scopes look like before and after applying the LUT in my last few videos.

    Hi Jon
Do you use the Creative LUTs on 100% or are you looking at what level of % it fits ?

Hi Stefan, I used less than 100%, probably somewhere around 30%, but I can’t recall exactly.

@@JonPais thanks for your fast response! Im using the leeming lut for color correction and then the leeming lut pro for the creative look. I think using these luts, i'll have some more options so i'll try. Thank you!
