The main star of any dishes you make is the SPICES. It adds flavor and aroma to the dish. In today's world, we often buy grounded spices from store, which does not have that fresh flavor or aroma as it looses it overtime. However, using whole spices (which definitely have more shelf life than powdered ones) make huge difference in aroma as well as gives really strong flavor that you need in your dishes. I prefer grinding them as needed. So I use coffee grinder. Over the years, I used many coffee grinders but this one is just amazing. The best thing is that I can ground whole spices into powder as well as grind herbs into paste like ginger-garlic-chili paste for everyday use. And the jar(s) come with air tight lid so grinding wet is mess-free. Other brand coffee grinders don't have lids. I thought it would be helpful for everyone like me who like to use fresh ingredients possible for cooking and this would be very helpful tool.

Hello Dipika, yes it can grind Chutneys and Dosa batter too but with Dosa batter you can give resting time to grinder, as it's motor will easily gets hot. I have tried it. But for Chutneys and spices it's perfect. I hope this helps.

Did you look into Cousinart nut and spice grinder?
The cup holds 70 grams. So you can grind anything less than that it's OK. The spices won't overheat just slightly gets warm and you need to cool it down before storing in air tight container.
I have seen the Cuisinart grinders. They are also good quality. 👍

I don't like the Cuisinart grinders. There is no seal on the jar while grinding and it make a mess. This looks so much better!

The price is the same throughout the year on Amazon. If you search harder you may find similar to this or same grinder for less. But let me tell you its worth every penny. I use it DAILY to grind spices, chutney or paste and its really very helpful gadget!
Which one u suggest for dosa or curry mixer?
This Secura coffee grinder is great for making dosa batter as well. It's just would be small and you have to grind the batter in batches. But other than that it works great for batter and curry, chutney and pastes. If you ready to purchase I have link in description box.
Can the grinder blade also grind very small amounts of spices, such as a mixture of 5 cloves, 4 cardamom, 1 tsp jeera, 1 tsp coriander? is that possible? is the grinder blade closed to the surface ?

Yes it grinds small amount that you mentioned. I have done it several times. The flat blade jar (2 blade ) is just meant to do that only. I hope this helps!

Are you using fresh ginger? Try chopping small pieces and grind it. It works for me!

Hello Gokul, yes I am currently using this grinder each and every day and the only drawback I could think of its small size (but apparently, for me, it's perfect size for grinding spices and chutneys) other than that i did not encounter any problems so far. It cannot replace full size grinder for instance if you want to make batter for dosa, dhokla etc but still if you grind in small batches it still grinds Dosa batter perfectly. I hope it helps!
other peoples reviews suggest this is not a good product , cheap and breaks easy
I have been using this spice grinder since i reviewed it on my channel and its working great! I am using it for making paste like ginger, garlic and green chili paste, tomato puree and chutneys (condiments), grinding nuts and occasionally i use it to grind soaked lentils and i never had any issues. So i cant really say about other people but for me (as a heavy user, daily used multiple times a day) its been the best spice grinder. Thank you for your comment.
