- The Norwegian lake Lygnstøylvatnet lies surprisingly close to popular tourist routes in the Norwegian region of Møre og Romsdal. However, it is overlooked by classic guidebooks, so tourists do not even know about its existence.
The path to Lake Lygnstøylvatnet lies through the picturesque Norangsdalen valley, one of Norway's narrowest valleys. Here, snow does not have time to completely melt during the warm summer not because of the altitude, but because of the constant presence in the shadow from the towering mountains.
In this video, join us on a kayaking adventure on Lake Lygnstøylvatnet as we uncover its secrets. Hidden beneath crystal-clear, icy waters for over a hundred years are the underwater ruins of the small village of Lygnstøylen.
The underwater ruins of the small village of Lygnstøylen are perfectly preserved and have become home to lake fish. We spent enough time on the lake today to show you the bottom of the lake in all its glory!
For your convenience, we’ve included the coordinates of key locations on our route:
62.073389, 6.802833 - Turnoff from Road Number Fv60 to Road Number Fv655
62.155944, 6.744472 - Stavbergsetra - picturesque houses with grass on the roof
62.174694, 6.729139 - Lake Lygnstøylvatnet
