The day Jesus rose from the dead. In school the next day his teacher asked the kids what about Easter is important to them. He said, “Mamaw, everybody was talking about candy and stuff, but I raised my hand and said Easter is the day we celebrate Jesus rising from the dead!” 😮 I asked him what his class said when he gave his answer? As a Christian who works in marketing and in outreach ministry, I see where they are coming from. Jesus used a similar approach. He spoke in parables for that specific reason, he didn't give it to them all at first; they wouldn't have understood, especially they unbelievers. Even Paul used a similar approach - 1 Corinthians 3:2 (NIV) I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for solid food.... Yes. I do to. I was brought up saying Easter but in the last several years I began saying Resurrection Day because that’s exactly what we celebrate. I wish more people understood that and would separate themselves from the term Easter.

We have come to Georgia for a few weeks to work on the house Gpa left to my folks when he passed away. The little church in a nowhere town I was baptized in as an elementary schooler (my choice) is right down the road and I attended for the first time since then! It was one of those churches. One undeniable fact of Elevation and Steven Furtick is the fact that so many people who never ever would've thought themselves to be christian are Christians because of his style and his sermons. Elevation brings millions across the world to Jesus. After these people are brought to Jesus, they have the free will to find a new church on their own. Steven Furtick helped me find Jesus, which led me to do my own studying. That lead me to finding my own local church, and that lead me to being on my own local church's production team serving with my time. The church is amazing at bringing people to Jesus. Regardless of if they stick around or whatever you think about Steven Furtick, that is a win.

In my house we say Resurrection Sunday even though the church i belong to says easter. Not everyone has the same conviction and revelation at the same time. Just keep listening to the Lord, your obedience will do more for those around you than going around pointing fingers and accusing

I agree. While I understand where they might be coming from. It feels suspicious to me. It almost feels like a scam to not say "resurrection" or whatever they are trying to "dumb down". If you can't speak with your mouth that Jesus gave his life to die on a cross for us and then resurrected, I think that is a sign of spiritual warfare. That's why it's important we can't even stretch the truth to make it easier to understand or digest. It creates a storybook version and a grey area gets bigger and bigger. Elevation Worship has countless songs that mention the resurrection and blood of Jesus. They even have songs called "Ressurection" and "Nothing but the Blood". The girl is simply saying in marketing to people who aren't Christian.. (to get people in the door) they aren't going to mention it because to one that has zero concept of Christianity, it might make them feel uncomfortable and decide not to check it out...Once they are in the doors then it's fair game.

I actually watched Elevation’s service on Easter Sunday (2024) and Pastor Furtick said the word “Resurrection” throughout the entire sermon. Not only that but be preached directly from the bible. The gospel was presented and it was not watered down. The sermon is on their UA-cam channel in case anyone wants to check it out.
I used to be very critical of Pastor Furtick and Elevation because I saw a lot of clipped videos from parts of his sermons criticizing his teachings. When i actually started listening to his sermons in full and not just clippings and read up on Elevations theology, I found there is absolutely nothing i disagree with. I have attended Elevation since.

We're trying to find a church and passed Elevation for the umpteenth time recently. I started to wonder "Should we check it out? Am I prejudging them because of their name?" This video confirms my original feelings. Which were "Elevation? What or who is being elevated? This makes me think of the word 'Levitate.' That's stuff of the occult. We won't visit them."
I used to watch it religiously on line for a while because I didn't really have a true church to call home. I watched until I had a Holy Spirit conviction and realized I was luke warm. Little by little I just stopped watching I honestly can't even remember when was the last time I watched any of elevation church videos. I'm not gonna say that I didn't get fed by it cuz there were some good sermons that really helped me with my walk at the time. ALTHOUGH as time went by and the Holy Spirit opened my eyes, I realized that was not it for me anymore. Same thing with TD Jake's, Transformation church and countless others I used to watch. The more I prayed for God to give me more thurst, hunger, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, decernment and basically let me get to know him more and more. It made me really learn what testing the Sprit and seeing their fruit meant. I also prayed for him to lead me to a good biblical church. One day a girl I knew through other friends/coworkers invited me to a church that she herself had just heard of and wanted to check it out. I know it was all God's doing so thanks to him I Finally found a church that I call home. It's small and relatively new but so full of the spirit. I have been really fed through it more than anywhere else in a very short period of time. It's so full of the spirit that they're now working on expanding the building so all the praise, worship, honor and glory be to our father God, Lord Jesus and Holy Spirit.🙌 I ask for prayers so that God will continue to use our pastor and all the brothers and sisters that serve there in a mighty way. That way more people not just continue to come to Christ but are also fellowship and learn more and more like I am.😊
I had a good Sister in Christ that recommended me the Elevation app...I began listening to Steve Furtick and it grieved my spirit and the Holy Spirit in me, but at first, I did not know why...so, I listened like two more sermons and pray about it...the Lord helped me to discern the falsehood...I deleted the app from my phone and that's was it for me...unfortunately, I tried to tell my friend but she did not listened, she cut communication with me, and 'til this day I have not see her again, and I don't know her status in Jesus Christ anymore...sad...

I recently started watching Elevation Church online. As someone who has been raised a Christian and am rooted and grounded in the Word I understand your complaint, I believe God is using Steven Furtick to reach people in this generation. He knows the Bible, he preaches straight from the Bible every week and he’s speaking in a way that the average person can receive. Whether you like how he speaks or not, I believe God is using this ministry to bring people to Jesus. Maybe you think he’s dumbing down the gospel but I see him as reaching people where they’re at in life. He’s inspired me to read my Bible every morning and to draw closer to God by spending more time in His word. I’m grateful for Elevation Church and I love the praise music-it elevates Christ-that is their goal. I think it’s dangerous to criticize anyone who is anointed by the Lord.

You're exactly right. These days how are children going to understand any other language other than the way they speak. He speaks in a way that younger people can understand. And that's a gift. I mean he's not teaching to Elders in the church that are 70 years old I mean he is but he's trying to bring people to God and teach them and he has to speak with him like they speak or he's not going to be able to accomplish anything that's why he has such a big following. Hey Nick, thank you for making this video. I serve within Elevation Church. I don't attend the Ballantyne campus of Elevation Church where we broadcast from, but I do attend the Raleigh campus. The local campus pastor there, Angel Marin, is NOT going to sugar-coat how much Christ suffered, bled, and died between getting brutally beaten, spat on, mocked, and nailed to the cross. I have seen the marketing handbills we pass out to future guests. That print collateral might not say "resurrection" on them, but once we get people in the door, we will be pouring the truth of the Gospel into them. I agree that people need to know what Jesus endured for us and how He was resurrected to defeat death and hell. I'm sure each of our other campus locations will talk about Christ's suffering and resurrection as well. My prayer is that more and more churches will not shy away from the truth of the matter regarding Jesus suffering and dying for our sins so that we could be forgiven and set free. God bless.
@@rell2893 not everyone who comes to a church has heard the Gospel presented to them in a detailed manner before. I have literally witnessed people come to Elevation Church for the first time and that was their first time ever stepping foot in a church in general. So we can’t assume that just because a person is coming to a church for the first time that they know what the Gospel is. That person most likely came because someone invited them to come BECAUSE they need the Gospel and the person who invited them recognized that. As long as the people witness the Gospel being presented during a service that’s what matters.

I agree with you that we should include certain terms on print collateral but it doesn’t mean that we aren’t having in-person dialogues with people about resurrection, and other foundational beliefs before, during, and after church services. In other words, let’s not limit the fullness of ministry to what is or isn’t on print collateral. It’s deeper than that.

Easter evolved from the Goddess Ishtar who is a pagan goddess of fertility: hence the rabbits (not sure about the eggs), but the Roman Catholic Church basically merged the pagan spring fertility festivities with Resurrection Sunday/Holy week. I wake every morning between 3 and 5AM. Through videos here I learned to turn to God in these times and today I was speaking to God about the overwhelming feeling of just not being good enough. Knowing I will never be perfect and asking God what can I do with this. The devil wants me to just give up because it’s unattainable but all I keep hearing is have faith in me. Faith and intent! He intentionally faithful and trust that he will guide us. Then to hear your opening just brought tears to my eyes. Then 3 nights/days later is the Feast of First Fruits, honoring the day Jesus rose from the dead. The next day after Passover begins the Feast of Unleavened Bread which lasts a week. I’ve listened to Pastor Steven Furtick sermons and God speaks through that man. He is only human and we all make mistakes. If needed God will convict him. God knows our hearts.

I was Raising church and I've learned more from Steven furtick I'm just a couple years and in all my life because of the way he explains everything in the way he knows that theology in the history of those times. But he teaches it basically everything that I was taught it's just easier to understand. But he does use the word resurrection and that's the first thing he said was Resurrection sunday. People should get their facts straight before they start gossiping because gossip is a window to send or a doorway to sin it spreads lies. Elevation Church is my church. Pastor Steven is my Pastor. Both you and I are believers already. There are MANY who are not. Who do not have any understanding of a what a relationship with our Lord and Savior means, let alone the stories in the Bible of Jesus and what makes his resurrection so powerful in the first place. MANY unbelievers are invited to church on “Easter” Sunday… the ONLY opportunity in a year to hear ANYTHING about the Bible or see what community looks like within a church setting. I absolutely agree that our human salvation is through the blood of Jesus, death and his resurrection… but understand that it takes time for that hunger to even be sparked in non believers to know more about what the Bible says. It is a “shock” to hear things like resurrection and the blood of Christ without context when you are a non believer. I mean, we truly want others to know the Lord and to be saved of course, but often it’s like speaking to a child when it comes to introducing or inviting someone to a church setting ( and THAT is where many churches focus their attention to on Easter … NEW ears and hearts!) Ps Steven is not under attack however as the bride of Christ why are we to dim down what happened to Jesus Christ as His bride. We are to not manipulate people into coming to church by shying away from language used in the bible. I’m so confused at elevation church’s decision to not use that language.

I’ve had demonic attacks in my dreams before I was saved and I remember my old manager told me that he had similar demonic attacks in his dreams and cried out “The blood of Jesus”. After I heard that I did the same thing and those demonic attacks went away. Jesus is very real, and so is spiritual warfare and demonic attacks. Let people know Jesus and what he went through so they can be free. This water down gospel allows the devil to continue to trample on people’s mind, soul and spirit.

I'm gonna say something that might be unpopular in this comment section, but I actually get what the Elevation lady is saying. Hear me out: she isn't talking about avoiding the gospel, and she said they do say resurrection/blood of Jesus in church. She's talking about using language that people will understand to draw people in. She said herself that she would say "He was raised to life." That's the same thing as resurrection, it's just in less church-y terms for unchurched people. I talk to a lot of Muslims and when I share the gospel with them, I never use church-y words like I would on a Sunday. In a gospel conversation, I would say something like "Isa (Arabic name for Jesus) came to take away your shame" It makes it make more sense to them. We call it "contextualization of the gospel." Jesus contextualized to His audience when He told parables about what the Kingdom of God is like. It's not a bad thing, it's just changing the language so that people can understand the gospel better.
I was thinking the same thing! All they're doing is using language their audience will understand. The gospel isn't a set of vocabulary terms, it's a message. If we're serious about communicating that message, it's essential that we do so in a way that will be understood by the people we're communicating with.
Instead of avoiding crucial terms about salvation, they should be explained in the message 🤷🏻♀️ it’s that simple, the preacher should be TEACHING THE TERMS while teaching the Word 🙏🏼

To be honest not everyone is going to say the same thing or use the same lingo. But if a person is willing to go out and evangelize AMEN! I’m with you. I’ve heard Bible scholars say the Bible is hard to read in its original form hence why they have so many versions to help people understand the word better. It still amazes me how many Christians throw stones at one another.
Easter is not in the Bible. Jesus died during feast days of Passover, unleavened bread and rose on first fruits (Lev 23). Those are what we should be celebrating during this time yearly. Yes we love that Jesus died and resurrected for us early on the 1st day of the week but no where are we commanded to celebrate his resurrection. We are commanded to celebrate Gods feast days forever. Do your research on Easter people. We should be celebrating Jesus death for us daily as we walk through life and live as he did. Our walk should be a daily reminder that we accept his death for us and we will follow him in our walk daily.

As a Christian who works in marketing and in outreach ministry, I see where they are coming from. Jesus used a similar approach. He spoke in parables for that specific reason, he didn't give it to them all at first; they wouldn't have understood, especially they unbelievers. Even Paul used a similar approach - 1 Corinthians 3:2 (NIV) I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for solid food.... (spiritually speaking )

One undeniable fact of Elevation and Steven Furtick is the fact that so many people who never ever would've thought themselves to be christian are Christians because of his style and his sermons.
Elevation brings millions across the world to Jesus. After these people are brought to Jesus, they have the free will to find a new church on their own. Steven Furtick helped me find Jesus, which led me to do my own studying. That lead me to finding my own local church, and that lead me to being on my own local church's production team serving with my time.
The church is amazing at bringing people to Jesus. Regardless of if they stick around or whatever you think about Steven Furtick, that is a win.

I agree. While I understand where they might be coming from. It feels suspicious to me. It almost feels like a scam to not say "resurrection" or whatever they are trying to "dumb down". If you can't speak with your mouth that Jesus gave his life to die on a cross for us and then resurrected, I think that is a sign of spiritual warfare. That's why it's important we can't even stretch the truth to make it easier to understand or digest. It creates a storybook version and a grey area gets bigger and bigger. Elevation Worship has countless songs that mention the resurrection and blood of Jesus. They even have songs called "Ressurection" and "Nothing but the Blood". The girl is simply saying in marketing to people who aren't Christian.. (to get people in the door) they aren't going to mention it because to one that has zero concept of Christianity, it might make them feel uncomfortable and decide not to check it out...Once they are in the doors then it's fair game.

I actually watched Elevation’s service on Easter Sunday (2024) and Pastor Furtick said the word “Resurrection” throughout the entire sermon. Not only that but be preached directly from the bible. The gospel was presented and it was not watered down. The sermon is on their UA-cam channel in case anyone wants to check it out.

I used to be very critical of Pastor Furtick and Elevation because I saw a lot of clipped videos from parts of his sermons criticizing his teachings. When i actually started listening to his sermons in full and not just clippings and read up on Elevations theology, I found there is absolutely nothing i disagree with. We're trying to find a church and passed Elevation for the umpteenth time recently. I started to wonder "Should we check it out? Am I prejudging them because of their name?" This video confirms my original feelings. Which were "Elevation? What or who is being elevated? This makes me think of the word 'Levitate.' That's stuff of the occult. We won't visit them."
I used to watch it religiously on line for a while because I didn't really have a true church to call home. I watched until I had a Holy Spirit conviction and realized I was luke warm. Little by little I just stopped watching I honestly can't even remember when was the last time I watched any of elevation church videos. I'm not gonna say that I didn't get fed by it cuz there were some good sermons that really helped me with my walk at the time. ALTHOUGH as time went by and the Holy Spirit opened my eyes, I realized that was not it for me anymore. Same thing with TD Jake's, Transformation church and countless others I used to watch. The more I prayed for God to give me more thurst, hunger, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, decernment and basically let me get to know him more and more. It made me really learn what testing the Sprit and seeing their fruit meant. I also prayed for him to lead me to a good biblical church. One day a girl I knew through other friends/coworkers invited me to a church that she herself had just heard of and wanted to check it out. I know it was all God's doing so thanks to him I Finally found a church that I call home. It's small and relatively new but so full of the spirit. I have been really fed through it more than anywhere else in a very short period of time. It's so full of the spirit that they're now working on expanding the building so all the praise, worship, honor and glory be to our father God, Lord Jesus and Holy Spirit.🙌 I ask for prayers so that God will continue to use our pastor and all the brothers and sisters that serve there in a mighty way. That way more people not just continue to come to Christ but are also fellowship and learn more and more like I am.😊
I had a good Sister in Christ that recommended me the Elevation app...I began listening to Steve Furtick and it grieved my spirit and the Holy Spirit in me, but at first, I did not know why...so, I listened like two more sermons and pray about it...the Lord helped me to discern the falsehood...I deleted the app from my phone and that's was it for me...unfortunately, I tried to tell my friend but she did not listened, she cut communication with me, and 'til this day I have not see her again, and I don't know her status in Jesus Christ anymore...sad...

I recently started watching Elevation Church online. As someone who has been raised a Christian and am rooted and grounded in the Word I understand your complaint, I believe God is using Steven Furtick to reach people in this generation. He knows the Bible, he preaches straight from the Bible every week and he’s speaking in a way that the average person can receive. Whether you like how he speaks or not, I believe God is using this ministry to bring people to Jesus. Maybe you think he’s dumbing down the gospel but I see him as reaching people where they’re at in life. He’s inspired me to read my Bible every morning and to draw closer to God by spending more time in His word. I’m grateful for Elevation Church and I love the praise music-it elevates Christ-that is their goal. I think it’s dangerous to criticize anyone who is anointed by the Lord.

You're exactly right. These days how are children going to understand any other language other than the way they speak. He speaks in a way that younger people can understand. And that's a gift. Hey Nick, thank you for making this video. I serve within Elevation Church. I don't attend the Ballantyne campus of Elevation Church where we broadcast from, but I do attend the Raleigh campus. The local campus pastor there, Angel Marin, is NOT going to sugar-coat how much Christ suffered, bled, and died between getting brutally beaten, spat on, mocked, and nailed to the cross. I have seen the marketing handbills we pass out to future guests. That print collateral might not say "resurrection" on them, but once we get people in the door, we will be pouring the truth of the Gospel into them. I agree that people need to know what Jesus endured for us and how He was resurrected to defeat death and hell. I'm sure each of our other campus locations will talk about Christ's suffering and resurrection as well. My prayer is that more and more churches will not shy away from the truth of the matter regarding Jesus suffering and dying for our sins so that we could be forgiven and set free. God bless.

I have literally witnessed people come to Elevation Church for the first time and that was their first time ever stepping foot in a church in general. So we can’t assume that just because a person is coming to a church for the first time that they know what the Gospel is. That person most likely came because someone invited them to come BECAUSE they need the Gospel and the person who invited them recognized that. As long as the people witness the Gospel being presented during a service that’s what matters.

Easter evolved from the Goddess Ishtar who is a pagan goddess of fertility: hence the rabbits (not sure about the eggs), but the Roman Catholic Church basically merged the pagan spring fertility festivities with Resurrection Sunday/Holy week. I wake every morning between 3 and 5AM. Through videos here I learned to turn to God in these times and today I was speaking to God about the overwhelming feeling of just not being good enough. Knowing I will never be perfect and asking God what can I do with this. The devil wants me to just give up because it’s unattainable but all I keep hearing is have faith in me. Faith and intent! He intentionally faithful and trust that he will guide us. Then to hear your opening just brought tears to my eyes. I’ve listened to Pastor Steven Furtick sermons and God speaks through that man. He is only human and we all make mistakes. If needed God will convict him. God knows our hearts.

But he did use the word Resurrection that's what I'm trying to say this information is wrong. Here's the video.. I was Raising church and I've learned more from Steven furtick I'm just a couple years and in all my life because of the way he explains everything in the way he knows that theology in the history of those times. But he teaches it basically everything that I was taught it's just easier to understand. But he does use the word resurrection and that's the first thing he said was Resurrection sunday. People should get their facts straight before they start gossiping because gossip is a window to send or a doorway to sin it spreads lies. We should all keep everything to ourselves if we don't agree with something we need to keep it to ourselves because we're only responsible for our own actions.

Both you and I are believers already. There are MANY who are not. Who do not have any understanding of a what a relationship with our Lord and Savior means, let alone the stories in the Bible of Jesus and what makes his resurrection so powerful in the first place.
MANY unbelievers are invited to church on “Easter” Sunday… the ONLY opportunity in a year to hear ANYTHING about the Bible or see what community looks like within a church setting.
I absolutely agree that our human salvation is through the blood of Jesus, death and his resurrection… but understand that it takes time for that hunger to even be sparked in non believers to know more about what the Bible says. It is a “shock” to hear things like resurrection and the blood of Christ without context when you are a non believer. I mean, we truly want others to know the Lord and to be saved of course, but often it’s like speaking to a child when it comes to introducing or inviting someone to a church setting ( and THAT is where many churches focus their attention to on Easter … NEW ears and hearts!)
Elevation believes and speaks from the Bible, acknowledges AND uses the terms blood of Christ and the resurrection of Christ, I promise😂❤

Ps Steven is not under attack however as the bride of Christ why are we to dim down what happened to Jesus Christ as His bride. I’ve had demonic attacks in my dreams before I was saved and I remember my old manager told me that he had similar demonic attacks in his dreams and cried out “The blood of Jesus”. After I heard that I did the same thing and those demonic attacks went away. Jesus is very real, and so is spiritual warfare and demonic attacks. Let people know Jesus and what he went through so they can be free. This water down gospel allows the devil to continue to trample on people’s mind, soul and spirit.

I looked up the word Easter and in every description and definition is the word Resurrection! I agree with how things become a slippery slope. That’s why there’s so many fractions of Christianity. I'm gonna say something that might be unpopular in this comment section, but I actually get what the Elevation lady is saying. Hear me out: she isn't talking about avoiding the gospel, and she said they do say resurrection/blood of Jesus in church. She's talking about using language that people will understand to draw people in. She said herself that she would say "He was raised to life." That's the same thing as resurrection, it's just in less church-y terms for unchurched people.
I talk to a lot of Muslims and when I share the gospel with them, I never use church-y words like I would on a Sunday. In a gospel conversation, I would say something like "Isa (Arabic name for Jesus) came to take away your shame" It makes it make more sense to them. We call it "contextualization of the gospel." Jesus contextualized to His audience when He told parables about what the Kingdom of God is like. It's not a bad thing, it's just changing the language so that people can understand the gospel better.
I was thinking the same thing! All they're doing is using language their audience will understand. The gospel isn't a set of vocabulary terms, it's a message. If we're serious about communicating that message, it's essential that we do so in a way that will be understood by the people we're communicating with.
Instead of avoiding crucial terms about salvation, they should be explained in the message 🤷🏻♀️ it’s that simple, the preacher should be TEACHING THE TERMS while teaching the Word 🙏🏼
I came here to say exactly this. Well put. Someone has to be working to draw in unbelievers. So many are focused on feeding those already saved and give up on those that are lost. We can do both and still be pleasing to God.

If this was the inly issue with Elevation I would agree. But the totality of what he preaches and how his church responds is very telling.

To be honest not everyone is going to say the same thing or use the same lingo. But if a person is willing to go out and evangelize AMEN! Saying Jesus resurrected or Jesus Raised to life again is literally the same thing. Picking this and making a big deal about it is a L. The Easter bunny thing I completely agree with.

I’m with you. I’ve heard Bible scholars say the Bible is hard to read in its original form hence why they have so many versions to help people understand the word better. It still amazes me how many Christians throw stones at one another.

Easter is not in the Bible. Jesus died during feast days of Passover, unleavened bread and rose on first fruits (Lev 23). Those are what we should be celebrating during this time yearly. Yes we love that Jesus died and resurrected for us early on the 1st day of the week but no where are we commanded to celebrate his resurrection. We are commanded to celebrate Gods feast days forever. Do your research on Easter people. We should be celebrating Jesus death for us daily as we walk through life and live as he did. Our walk should be a daily reminder that we accept his death for us and we will follow him in our walk daily.
