The Royal Family have a long tradition of being buried with sentimental items. Queen Victoria was buried with a ring on each finger, a stack of bracelets on her wrists and layers of necklaces around her neck. She also took a plaster-cast of her late-husband’s hand to the grave. For Elizabeth II, the coffin will be bare by comparison.

She was a truly amazing woman, and I can't believe she has gone. She had a wonderful sense of humors but also, she kept to her vows and gave our nation 70 great years of service and kept going right to the end. She was not only our queen, but she was also a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her sons and her grandchildren. My sincere condolences and love to the royal family at this time of mourning. Thank you, ma'am, for a long and dedicated service to the nation. You will be sadly missed but your life will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, your majesty🌹❤

that necklace was given to diana, which diana requested to have all her jewlery given to her sons future wives. that necklace is now owned by kate, she wore it to the funeral.
I understand the sentiment, but she can't enjoy them anymore. They're better off staying in the family. She knew a beautiful strand of pearls wouldn't be any good being buried with her.

I took carr of my mom & step dad for the last 17 yrs of their lives witn no help. When they both passed within four months of each other the 'in-laws' came & took everything but the dust on the floor !

I can't imagine all the jewelry that is buried with the previous monarchs. I am fascinated with them and know they will do what they want, but having these things buried for life seem insane.
What a sad moment but a great lesson. No matter how rich or sets of jewellery you possess during your lifetime but at the end you will go barehands.. Only good deeds done by you stay back.
