Your voice is transcendent on 9 levels! Please allow me to add my voice in praise of what you have accomplished! Your range, pitch, and mastery of Whitacre's music is truly inspiring and heaven sent. Please sing and produce more videos like this. Your gifts are wonderful and should be shared with the world!
Your gift has come from the One Spirit of life. That which has no name. When I am crossing through the veil, after my long walk here on Mama Earth, I want to hear this piece sung by you, Matthew Curtis. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
If God ever meant for a person to sit on the floor and purrrrr at a sound.... then I would be the first living example. After listening to this, I now know that there must be a heaven. I am positively vibrating with pleasure. Unbelievable. Thank-you so much Mr Curtis!
from contra bass thru the highest descant, your voice never loses its stability, ambience...God must've given you a celestial voice, which I envy you of.
I come here often and I don't think I can remember a time where this didn't bring a tear to my eye. Absolutely brilliant. Never stop and thrilled to see you are uploading more stuff :D
Mr. Curtis!!! You are truly a phenominal vocalist! I am in absolute awe of you!!! Thank you for blessing all of us with this video and all of your others as well. You are truly one of God's gifts! Would not beleieve this without seeing and hearing this here! You gave me Goosebumps!!! :-)
What a perfect voices you have. Even though the lyrics didn't take you long to learn ,you sang them in a million different ways. Joking apart all of you was as good as one another.
theres something about Eric Whitacre's music that makes me cry some time and this is one of those songs...... and im a grown man hahah, maybe its because i miss my High School days being in Choir we did Lily in Her Hand and Sleep
Nothing better than blending with your own voice 😁 I've almost got the same effect singing with my brothers. I grew up singing with my family and have found that our voices are so similar that we blend almost perfectly.
You have the most incredible range I have ever come across- and not just that, you have such a pure tone to your voice. I have really enjoyed listening to this... and on repeat! You really do this piece justice.
I don't think there are words to adequately describe the beauty of this piece, or how it stirs my soul. This is truly a masterful gift, thank you so much for sharing it with the world.
Truly Magnificent not only in the piece itself but also in his ability to equally express his joy in the making of this video, watch his face light up. it brought me joy to watch and listen to him. Thanks
What is the diffrence between pop, rock music and classical? People listen to pop or rock music because it makes them stimulated, people dance and laugh very hard and yell, if they listen to classical they will sleep immediately. But we listen to classical music because it rings our heart and makes us smile, just smile or say:"Beautiful"
This is a spectacular version of this song. It was a great pleasure listening to this. Your range is definitely immaculate and just amazing. Wonderful job!
This is fabulous and very helpful to hearing all the parts more clearly than with Eric Whitacre's vocal ensemble (who of course are fabulous, but hearing 1 voice on all parts overdubbed is SO HELPFUL for hearing his part writing more cleanly). Well done and thank you.
Correction: "Alleluia" is an arrangement/adaptation of "October." In his early career, Eric composed quite a few influential pieces for band/wind orchestra, including "Equus," "Ghost Train," "Godzilla Eats Las Vegas," and "October" (2000). Just because Eric "composes for Choir mostly" doesn't mean all of his pieces originated as choir pieces; "October"/"Alleluia" certainly did not.
SO SO GOOD!! I've always known that it's easier to sing in tune with yourself than with others, but still this blows me away!! Nicely done!!!!!! omgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomg
This is so beautiful. Your version of this song was the first I had heard and I keep coming back to it even after hearing full choruses perform it. Wonderful job! Definitely a new inspiration of mine!
Brilliant chordal changes and ideas that still have the emotional content to them that most accapella songs lack. Glad you felt this. Now I do too. Brilliant time and pitch as well as orchestral vocal composition. YOU GOT ME! Thank you so much....I think I need to work with you. Amen to THAT! Most sincerely, :) Catte Adams
According to the notes on the sheet music for "Alleluia", this is Eric Whitacre's choral transcription of "October". He transcribed it for Dr. David Skinner and the Sidney Sussex College choir at Cambridge University after spending the 2010 Michaelmas term there.
Breathtakingly beautiful! Thanks, E. Whitacre and thanks, M. Curtis!

Seven people didn't like this? They must not have listened. Eric Whitacre is a genius, and your talent is beyond impressive.
I think it's more like they didn't have ears so they're jealous
Those were probably accidental clicks.

I come here often and I don't think I can remember a time where this didn't bring a tear to my eye. Absolutely brilliant. Never stop and thrilled to see you are uploading more stuff :D

This made me cry, and I never cry over music.

I've never heard anyone one sing with such a large range as his. This is truly incredible.
Simply amazing! The purity of tone and pitch at all points of his range is perfect! I am awed by the beauty of his voice and the music for this piece.
Six years later, this still haunts me. Absolutely gorgeous.
What a perfect voices you have. Even though the lyrics didn't take you long to learn ,you sang them in a million different ways. Joking apart all of you was as good as one another.
Matthew, you make me cry like a baby. Thank you for doing this.

A good bit of it is actually electronically altered, but that doesn't take away from his incredible tone, I love it
How is it electronically altered?
I'd like to know so I can do it too.
You have utter clarity and an amazing voice. I have NEVER heard such versatility. GOD SPEED.
