I even met him once and tried to tell him how much the CB/TM meant to me...I couldn't find the word but he understood. He even sang a song for my departed father. I am a lifelong lover of music and am a musician, but no one and nothing will ever mean as much to me as Liam's singing. God bless, rest, and give glory.

I had the privilege and honour of sitting in on the television filming of a whole years worth of shows back in the 1970s….Liam Clancy was one fine musician and an integral part of a musical era….Makem and Clancy set the standard for the Irish Folk Music phenomenon!
Thank you for keeping this thread open. I believe that the Clancys were one of the great formative influences upon my life. Sixty-some years later I still can do most of the lyrics!

Lots of people have commented, and more will as they discover, but I just wanted to say, in words that don't seem close enough as I type this, that you weren't the first who made me pick up a guitar, but you were the first I remember hearing as a kid on road trips to anywhere in our van, where I couldn't sleep because I was transfixed by your words. Bless him, I moved back to Ireland for 17 months, after over 40 years away, went to see him in Co Cavan with my late with my mum 200 whilst there, wish I asked him for a selfie!! God bless him, retrospectively I have often wondered if he knew it might be his last tour xxx 😁.
