one of the most vivid aviation memories I have as a child is the sound an airliner makes just after it lifts off...you get this thunder/high wind-like whooshing that wasn't there during the takeoff roll...is that the sound of the engines echoing off the landscape as it climbs? I never could figure that out as a child and still can't haha...and I nearly have a ppl
I'm so ecxited...I have to fligh ending this month...and the airlline that I have the ticket still are using this kind of plane ...I never be on one of this before...this kind of plane was build in 1965....and make It is first fligh on 1968...(according the weeb site that I got the information)thanks...
I took "truest" to mean the simplest, least complex machine, not the best or most effective. A turbofan is more complex than a turbojet. That was all I meant. I also should have added pulsejet between rocket and turbojet.
Because a friend and his entire family went down with this plane, due to boeings design fault rudder jaming. And it is as old as the fucking shit. Turbojet? Oh god, they shouldn't let these even fly at all. No to old planes.
lol, I wonder what you are gonna say to those old DC-9 aircraft from Delta Air Lines which are still laughing at those ridiculous A320 aircraft. Pay respect to the old guards, buddy, aviation would not have been possible without the 737-200.
I remember when jet engines sounded that way and you sunk back into your seat 2 inches. That power felt different than today. Granted I was just a child and couldn't handle 1g
"Again what learned"!
This airplane has been well cared for. The airlines would never buff those thrust reversers. The whole airplane looks great. This the Advanced model, so probably has the -15 engines from the originals -9. What a beauty! Looks like it could fly into eternity. Thanks.
It's a turbofan, not a turbojet. It just has a lower bypass ratio than modern engines. Age isn't what matters to a plane, the hours it spends flying matter. And technically, Boeing's rudder is fine. It was a servo unit made by a subcontractor that was faulty. If was ever such a huge problem, Boeing never would have sold so many 737's. At any moment, there are over 1,000 in the air somewhere in the world. There is one landing and one taking off every 5 seconds, every hour, every day.
Awesome reminds me of Ryanair at Luton on a warm sunny Sunday afternoon their flight to Dublin the air crackled not like the whine of the jets nowadays scared to make any noise!!!!
"Takes a long time to begin to move"? Are you referring to how they hold the brakes down while they run the throttles up to full power? That is quite normal procedure, for any plane. Once they release the brakes, it begins moving immediately, and builds speed faster than any vehicle weighing 115,000 pounds has a right too.
The bad ass baby Boeing, 737-200! So what if they suck more fuel than a CFM, this is jet propulsion in it's truest form. I would love to have one as my personal jet!
Jet propulsion in it's truest form would probably be a rocket. As far as turbine engines go, it'd be an old school turbojet. This is just a step up towards a high-bypass engine.
I assure you, aviation was and is possible without the 737. In fact, aviation was around for quite some time before the 737 was even a twinkle in Boeing's eye. Just sayin'.
Rockets might be the most explosive form of jet propulsion. And low-bypass turbo fans are everything turbojets were and more. And with an afterburner, could almost be a rocket.
Man I miss those sweet sounds :) Today´s CFM engines are totally quiet in comparison

used to takes these back in the day old CP Air & Pacific Western Airlines, memories, this was back in the late 70s early 80s man!
Great video! Love those -200s and their JT8Ds!!!

Vielen Dank!
Great video, I've filmed so many 737's but not the 200, must have been great!
the best aircraf in the word!
thanks for breaking my headphones
They could certainly make the ground shake!
now that is a 737!! the old 200 model with the old fashioned engines... I LOVE IT
BEAUTIFULL! love the livery and the classic engine but this is still gawjusssss
They began making 737-200's in 1967 and stopped in 1988. And yes, these were the engines the 737 was originally designed with.
The real Boeing 737
I have the 737 200 for a flight simulator (X-Plane 10) and it is very well modelled and realistic.
@MrKnuk
Ooh! Classy!
The older Boeing 747 have used JT9D or?

good
I whatch this to to not be afraid for flying....sorry for bad english
Maybe a new home for Virgin Atlantic if the local taxes are reasonable!
@matthiashaenni :)
Judging by it sound, it's a flying hair dryer.
@matthiashaenni ow, alright!!! keep up doing the goos spotjobs!! ;-)
The -200 may be old school, but who cares when you sound like that!
Because a friend and his entire family went down with this plane, due to boeings design fault rudder jaming.
And it is as old as the fucking shit. Turbojet? Oh god, they shouldn't let these even fly at all. No to old planes.
such small
You looked in the mirror lately?
Brilliant video! Nice to see some -200's still flying today subscribed :)
Duuude! that was freakin awesome and the sound of those engines{PLANE MUSIC} thru my new 5.1 speakers were devastating!!! Keep it up M!!!!
I just love the sound of these old JT8D turbofans!
Would you tell me some differences between Boeing 737 and the Airbus A319 - A320
BTW you have some good videos, I'm subscribing
737-200 one of the more gorgeous airplane ever designed my man
the great sound of the majority of airliners from the 70s to the mid-90s
2:53 race start !
love that nasty crackling sound of the engines on takeoff
hey this is my favourite plane!

beautiful plane! whose is it?
IT HAS BEEN SOLD LATELY TO A PVT. OWNER AS *N80EV*
Very very nice, nothing like watching a 737-200 and it's JT8-D's smoking their way airborne. I miss working on these..
Beautiful day to fly , so-so on the livery , do like they striped the turbo fans
What a beauty and veery nice engines......sounds good...

how old is this plane? I see it has a different engine.
very nice, AGAIN!!! liked!!! ;-)
@matthiashaenni
I about went nuts when I seen this. This aircraft is stored next to the hangar that I fly out of currently at KCAK.
It's for sale now.
Is that a private 737? There is no company on the fuselage
wow i never seen a video of a 200 version
, Muito Lindoo = Beautiful Att. Randerson Brasil
was für e alti schachtle. aber schön so öppis wiedermal z gseh ;)
Nice to see the 200 around.
GREAT!!!!!!!!
Is the runway long enough?
@matthiashaenni
pass auf dort ;)
aber geniess es. lg
yes, why the noise ?
Just did. What's your point?
rocket roll! :D
Nice video.
The cigar engines! :-) .
Ugliest plane ever.
STRANGE DESIGN!!!!
Those engines look so small!
smaller turbofans :)
fantastic video my friend!! :D great! greetings

I looked it up and apparently it belongs to SCI AVIATION LLC
CANTON, OH

Very well preserved and maintained by it's previous and current owners and very well stored in this piece of documentary by you, Matthias !
Thank you!

so nice these JT8D, that distinctive sound it's almost unique.
No Philippine family owns this plane. It has US registration, and is owned by SCI Aviation out of Canton Ohio.
Funny how the engines seem loudest from the front and sides. I guess it's because they are only at low power?
Spiffy! With the gear up the old 200 is one of best looking airliners of all time.
Hello Matthias,
awesome footage, as usual. Keep them going!!!
Its owned by a very rich family in the Philippines
I love your vids man! Greetings from New Zealand :)
1:34 - Mini-737 , reminds me with the 747SP
That plane is my worst nightmare...
