This song makes me remember the good times i passed with friends before i lost them, i miss my friends, i really miss times and times from 2022, 2023 times got hard and 2024 got even worse. I'll wait for the better times because i know it's for some reason, but for me I just need a honest hug from someone who loves me, I don't feel loved. Love is hard, makes us blind and sad. Want to cry but i remember these good times i had.
I hear you and I hope it gets better for all of us. I can’t relate, and if I can, others can too. Hopefully, we find the good people out there to spend some time with. I hope good things for you! May God be with you and send his angels to you! 😊
2022 wasn’t long ago. It’s never too late.
I miss my sister so much
"Please don't confront me with my failures, I had not forgotten them." --One of the best lines ever...from a 16-year old kid!
Woah she wrote this when she was 16????
@@erazet3084 Jackson Browne wrote it
@@erazet3084 Yeah Jackson Browne wrote the song at age 16
kinda ironic
"Now if I seem to be afraid to live the life that I have wrote about in song; it's just that I've been losing too long." Jackson Brown wrote this song at 16 yo; wow!
The use of this song in Royal Tenenbaums is absolutely sublime.
The sweet simple poetry of the depressed person timeless and eternal. Such a haunting piercing voice which resonates with anyone who has ever suffered with depression and deep sadness .
So well put! Thanks.
Wow, couldn’t have said it better!
Well, Jackson Browne was only 16 years old when he wrote this song.
@@paularambula3441Often there's no better time in life than the teenage years to tap into the immense sadness that surrounds us all
I've never thought of it like that never the less I relate to the words.Maybe I didn't realise that I was depressed.
It's hard to believe this song came out 55 years ago. Indie music now sounds so similar to this
hard to believe it came out 55 years ago? you really think people 55 years ago were primitive monkeys or something? You definitely haven't heard anything from the '60s other than The Beatles and the songs that have become a stupid tiktok trend if you think like that. please 10s zoomer kids stop calling tvu indie and comparing the legendary band to today's indie bullshit and billie eilish because today's indie music and billie eilish is shit and you dont know about culture and music. I hate these people from tiktok
@@jdjsjsj8027 Interesting, they were basically saying it's timeless but you instantly went on the bitter defense. Maybe that's your own bias? Instead you can look at it positively, that roots of classics like these can still be found in Indie music of today.
You don't have to understand it or like it, but no need to be bitter that younger people are finding and appreciating classic music that they otherwise wouldn't.
@@vf-tst usually when new people say TVU sounds like today's indie artists, they mean Billie Eilish or people like Lil Peep XD Like wtf? they contributed nothing to the music, they are not creative and they don't sound alike at all and their work is only about being edgy and writing lyrics about being gay and eating xanax for "alternative" 12 year olds who have no other activities than watching tiktok. If people are to be interested in the culture and music of the 1960s, I love that and I encourage my friends to familiarize themselves with old psychedelic music, if zoomers are to comment on a topic they have no idea about, I dont get that and people shouldn't comparing them. Btw you know indie artists who are actually indie and do something comparable to TVU?
It's a shame that Nico was most likely a racist. She made interesting music that was quite influential. Desertshore and Marble Index are great.
@@arunhuh have something constructive and interesting to say or leave
This was made in 1967?! It’s crazy how timeless this sounds
Back when the artists put every ounce of their soul into their work, even if they were just doing covers like this. Nowadays, it’s rare to see a new artist that cares more about their work than the fame.
@@think3rofficial I disagree
Baroque pop was very popular around 1966-67
@@think3rofficial Most folk artists still care about their work, that much I can say. Then, larger artists like AURORA, while definitely a newer sound, is one of the most invested artists I've ever seen.
@@matthewglennon4326 absolutely, I think folk is a platform for a lot of those artists. I’m not saying none of them exist, but the music industry has matured, its values have changed. I 100% agree though, there is still plenty of amazing music out there, but I do feel that the ubiquity of music like that has dropped off.
This was the last song I heard before I blacked out from trying to commit suicide 😢 I was so deep in depression that I didnt see any other way out but death. 6months later im better and healing. Ive always been afraid of listening to this song again out of fear of having an episode. Thank God Im in a better head space. Im alive.
Stay strong things will definitely get better.
And yet, Jackson Browne sucks.

i rarely comment but this song just puts the way i feel into words, ive started overthinking more about what i shouldve done instead of what i actually did, and i just have become more self aware of my procrastination and how much it troubles me in life, i hope this school year will be better than any. im only 15 but i keep my word that i will never stop relating and listening to this. rest in peace, nico.
Dont beat yourself up too much. I can tell by your post that you're probably a very insightful and caring person, Ill bet the people in your life really appreciate that. just work on loving and forgiving yourself and everything else will fall into place cause in the end... the only person whose acceptance we need is our own. Hope you have a great year, you deserve it! 🤟
This song changed my life. I think I was about 15 or 16, it still stirs me up and blows me away.
What's even more amazing is that at the same age you first heard this, Jackson Browne wrote the song. He wrote it at 16!
Sounds bogus. Everyone knows Browne wrote it at 16. You just take that, and add some cliched bullshit expressions to describe your reaction.

I don't do too much talking
These days, these days
These days I seem to think a lot
About the things that I forgot to do
And all the times I had the chance to.
I've stopped my rambling
I don't do too much gambling
These days, these days
These days I seem to think about
How all the changes came about my ways
And I wonder if I'd see another highway
I had a lover
I don't think I'll risk another
These days, these days
And if I seem to be afraid
To live the life that I have made in song
It's just that I've been losing so long
I've stopped my dreaming
I won't do too much scheming
These days, these days
These days I sit on corner stones
And count the time in quarter tones to ten
Please don't confront me with my failures
I had not forgotten them
Thank you 💝
Thanks!

One of my favorite songs from Chelsea Girl.
This feels like the song of a older person who’s made a lot of reckless mistakes in their youth and has learned from them, reminiscing from a wiser place. I’d like to imagine it’s an old lady on her porch in the countryside who chose to live a quiet life instead of the party scene💗

Crazy how much velvet underground and nico inspired modern alternative/indie music
That's true, but no one in the Velvet Underground had anything to do with this song. That's Jackson Browne on the guitar.
@@ptournasHe wrote the song actually lol
@@lamestudiosinc418 I know, and Nico was never a member of the Velvet Underground, she was a guest singer with them as part of Warhol's The Exploding Plastic Inevitable show and sang three songs on their debut album. The band was not happy about Warhol making them perform with her. She was a bit of a primadonna, often making them get onstage late for performances and going off key, though that was probably because she was partially deaf.
Still, I must admit I attended 6 of the 15 or so concerts the Velvet Underground did at the Boston Tea Party between '67 and '70, and the full Exploding Plastic Inevitable show at the Savoy Theater in Boston, and I did like Nico's performances. To me she brought something of a mysterious and surreal quality to the songs she did.
Well this came out of nowhere but I am thankful for the reminder that this beauty exists

I remember a week before we moved from my hometown I took a walk. And as soon as I passed my elementary school this song played. I still remember the way the clouds looked and the sun on my face. Thank you Nico for giving my such a beautiful moment 🕊️
I always enjoy covers of These Days, from Fountains of Wayne to Glen Campbell to The VU & Nico, and on and on, including (of course) Jackson Browne. The simple evocative lyrics the 16 year old Browne penned so many years ago paint a picture that, IMO, is timeless and universally resonant. Thanks for posting and reminding me of this recording again.
