- Guthrie Govan casually showing why he's one of this generation's top guitarists.
Seriously, try to focus on his timing and phrasing instead of the flurry of notes. That's what makes him sound great.

My left ear enjoyed it.
I bought Guitar Techniques magazine every month from about 1990 to 2000 (I still have most of them, with the CD they came with) just for the Guthrie lessons. When the internet started to explode and you could see your favorite players playing, access the music, the tabs, etc etc, I knew that it was going to create monsters. There are so many good players these days, but IMO Guthrie was the catalyst to a lot of it. What sets Guthrie apart from a lot of players you see that are technically proficient, is the live recordings. He actively engages with his band and they are all driving each other, not just playing what they've rehearsed many times before. That's my thoughts, I just happened to be on a guitar video binge when this popped up. Thanks for the video!
Fantastic transcription! Thanks!
No expensive adjectives needed. ❤
WOW rippin lead with the transcription rolling by gives a strong connection for a visually oriented player like myself ... super intense jam ... more moments of release would set it up even better imo
I’m actually more impressed by the transcription than anything else. But I’m old and jaded lol.
I don't understand how people are able to transcribe this stuff with the audio being so bad
Good ears from lots of practice haha
Dude what
Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
If technique is the point then yeah it’s incredible. But musically it feels empty and tedious. I love the bass playing though.
It depends on what you like really. Musically, theres a lot to love about this, the phrasing, the odd groupings, the rhythmic displacement, the spicy note choices. But if youre not into those things, it just might not be for you. Or heck even if you are into those things its possible to just not like it and thats fine
i’ll always be filtered by this guy. helpful lesson videos at least
The best to ever do it
